Maybe it was just a fluke, but this was the worst pedicure experience I've ever had. It is small with three pedicure chairs, and the only people in there the entire time I was there were a woman and her very loud daughter (probably 10 or 11 years old). The woman made my toe bleed so bad that she had to wait a long time to see if it would finally stop bleeding before she could paint my toenails. Then she was ready to send me away after painting them and I said "do you have a place where I can set my toes under a dryer?," to which she responded, "oh yeah!," like she had forgotten. Then when it was time to pay (I was already thinking she shouldn't charge me after a bad experience), I knew it was $25 so I gave her two $20s and asked for change back. She looked in her drawer and said she didn't have change. Then she went to the back to look for change. I kept waiting and waiting for several minutes. She finally came back, and instead of telling me she would just knock off $5 and just take one of my $20s, she said "I will make it easy for you--you can write me a check." I told her I didn't have any checks. She told me she had $13 in change but not $15. Exhausted, I finally told her she could have $2 as a tip (not deserved in this case) and to go ahead and give me the $13. She asked me if I was mad at her. I told her I was not. Then she said "come back. Next time I will give you something free." Really? Next time? You couldn't give me a discount for giving me a terrible pedicure this time?? This is the only place i will let touch my nails other than a actual spa! The owner works alone alot. Thats why I always make an appointment here like she has asked me to if possible and she is always ready when I arrive. It is NOT one of these in and out in 30 minutes/ rush through a mani/ pedi places like most people have become used to. The owner takes pride in her work and no one has ever taken better care of my nails or gone above and beyond like her. She doesnt stop short of exactly what I want. Other places may get you in and out faster but I would rather someone take their time and do it right. She also makes a real connection with her customers instead of making you feel lime a number or a $. I live near this salon now but will be moving to Troy soon and will absolutely be making the trip to Millbrook every few weeks to get my mani/pedi and gel nails. I cant stress enough...no one else will ever touch my nails. She does quality work over quantity. MAKE AN APPOINTMENT! This is not an in & out experience like most people appear to prefer for some reason! So go here if you would actually like a spa like experience but not if you are going to rush them through their excellent work or expect them to take short cuts to fit in as many customers as possible. That is not this place. Shes tbe only nail salon i have ever been to that does not rush through and just treat me like a number. She takes pride in her work and does a great job! Also, yes her 12 year old daughter is often there to help her mother with small tasks around the salon but she is almost always in the back of the salon and has never been anytbing bit polite with me. I cant stress enough...go here for quality, there are not 5-10 nail techs here to fit in anyone that walks in with three kids and expects quick and sloppy work to herd you in and out like cattle. This is the worst nail salon I have ever been to!!! My husband gave me a gift certificate for this place. It's a pretty small with only three chairs. One chair seemed to be broken. The chairs had duct tape on them. The walls were a lime green color, which to me isn't a very relaxing color. There was one lady working at the time I showed up. I had two young girls with me and we only had about two and half hours before we had to leave. With only one lady working I didn't want to risk the time limit. I tried to leave but the lady stopped me and told me she had other workers coming. Still worried I tried to leave again, to which she stopped me again. At this time another customer walked in and she turned the customer away saying she was busy and could do her nails in an hour. Feeling guilty because she just turned away a customer, I stayed. Eventually another lady came in, this apparently was the daughter of the current worker. The lady that did my feet ended up hurting my pinky toe really bad by cutting too much nail. They also cut my fingernails very short and shaped them in the ugliest way I've ever seen. I had a gel manicure done and the manicure is absolutely worthless. The nail polish is all over my fingers and immediately after she did the final uv light she put lotion on my hands messing up the nails. They are now tacky to the touch and have no shine. So I'm going to have to get them re-done at another place. When I got my bill I suffered from sticker shock. At first the bill was $120 but when I gave her the gift certificate the price changed to $135. They charged me $35 a piece for each of the little girl's nails. I've never paid over $25. She then said she didn't charge me for the design on the nails, that she does those for free. I've never been charged for a nail design on little girls nails. Those have always been included in the price considering a manicurist doesn't have to buff the nails or remove cuticles and all that stuff. I've showed my nails to several girlfriends of mine and they've all agreed this is the absolute worst nail job they've ever seen. Avoid this place!!! I will never go back and neither will any friends of mine after seeing the horrible job they did on my nails. Do not go here it will be a waste of money and time and you'll just have to et them redone elsewhere. read more
