I've been visiting this nail salon on and off for the past 5 years. I usually have bouts of going…read moreoff my acrylics or one of the techs will do something that irritates me and then I will go elsewhere usually returning as they are the closest and quickest nail bar. On one of my last visits I always seem to get the same tech that no one wants, she proceeded to do me a French pedi and just before sending me to go and dry I took a look to which I told her I wasn't satisfied for her to tell me I had had my acrylic overlays on too long and that was the reason they looked discoloured. I responded to this with why did you not tell me this before staring my treatment and having the option to get a new set for slightly more money. After becoming slightly miffed she agreed to paint over the top so the discolouration would be less obvious. I went on my way fairly happy. I returned four weeks later and had a new set of acrylic on fingers and toes done which was relatively stress free. However on my last and final ever visit to the salon I asked if they could remove the acrylic as u wanted to take a break alongside the fact that I've began studying and I'm not allowed any nail adornments on my course for placement. I was greeted by the same rude employee questioning why am I taking them off and why don't I just infill them simply because she didn't want to spend the time doing this somewhat monotonous job. After she began taking the acrylic off my toes I immediately noticed something wrong with the nails, they had become blackened at the root and the texture somewhat grainy when I asked the tech she told me that this was due to me banging my toe. I went on my way and have since released that I have infant contracted a nail infection. Personally I will never return to this salon the owner is lovely but the some of the employers and this one in particular are down right rude and lazy; three weeks later I still have some of the acrylic I paid £30 or more to remove remaining on my toe nails. It feels every time you say something to this employee she has a response she couldn't be bothered soaking the acrylic off my toe nails so insisted cutting them down so low and filing the surface when I asked her why she said it was so my nails wouldn't break!

Utopia is, well, pretty much Utopia as far as beauty and tanning in Birmingham is concerned…read more They're a cut about the rest of the beauty salons that I know. Of course, the prices do reflect this, but not too steeply, which is great. They are quite ahead of their time with various treatments as well, which makes you feel like they really are experts in their field. I feel it's time I talked about bikini waxing. Here, it's quite an art form. They even have a little chart that you can look at to see what you want, and all styles have names. I suppose some haircuts have names (the 'bob', the 'pageboy, the 'Rachel') so why not hair in, ahem, other places? They also have Peron Rigot Comfort Hot Wax, which reduces the pain of normal wax. Like I said - a cut about the rest.

As well as the available sunbeds, they have a few packages available which allow you to pay for a set of treatments; such as full body waxing (perfect if you're going on holiday) at a reduced rate which saves you lots of money whilst you relax and are made beautiful. They sell a lot of the beauty products that they use to do some of the treatments so if you find something that you like it's definitely worth asking if they have them in stock and available to buy.

The salon wasn't the most modern I'd ever been in, but it felt clean and it had a relaxed vibe so it worked for me. There were a few products available to buy but I didn't look too closely at the price as I wasn't interested in buying anything. The girl took my previous nail varnish off and filed my nails into the desired shape. I went for a combination of in between round and square nails which looked great. I was really impressed with the quality of the hand and arm massage. It was so relaxing I didn't want it to end! The overall experience was great and my nails looked better than ever.

Now Nail Inc is one of the world's biggest nail brands so when I'm looking for a little extra special look I like to visit the Nail Inc on Corporation Street, centrally located in Birmingham town centre. Nail Inc is like the luxury nail treatment money can buy, it's really worth all the money- trust me I've become an expert over the years on nail treatments. I love the minx look on nails at the moment, as Nail Inc is a great place to get this. Check this out; you can even get the Ruby Red Crystal Pedicure....which I've tried once. I had this done 2 weeks ago and it looks amazing. Even the boyfriend was impressed, lol! So, if you'd like to make your nails look sexier then visit Nail Inc- maybe try going for one of the intricate nail art designs, if you dare.

When I arrived, I was seated on a small table in the corner and the lady took my previous nail varnish off. Next she filed my nails into the desired shape and began the full manicure. The inside décor was pleasant, it was quite neutral although some of the posters on the wall looked dated and slightly off putting. There were some nail varnishes and similar products available for sale but I always feel they can be over priced in salons so I didn't purchase any. The woman who was doing my nails wasn't overly chatty but the service was quick and my nails looked better than ever.

It's right down at the end, close to the Children's Hospital and Boston Tea Party. It's quite small inside. There's seating in front of you as you enter and there are three tables where you can get your nails done on the left hand side. They also do waxing (cannot comment much more on that) which they do at the back of the shop behind a curtain. There's also a hairdressers downstairs. I went on a Friday afternoon around 3.30pm and they managed to fit me in immediately. It got busy around 4.30pm and a queue did start to form. The gentleman that did my nails, prepped them very well. It doesn't look like I had infills which can be the case sometimes as the nail starts to grow. However, I had a replacement nail put on and its wonky. I didn't notice at the time but I'd be concerned if I was getting a full set here. That's not where the bad news stops. The nail varnish. I knew something was going to go wrong when the gentleman didn't understand that I just wanted the tips of my nails painted. My nails are rather long and he initially put just only about 5mm of varnish on. I had to ask for more twice. Most people when they do the tips, paint the nail then 'tidy it up' with nail varnish remover and a brush. That did not happen here. I hate being mean to people but I was not happy at all. The varnish was painted on in a straight line, it was lumpy and it was so thick at one point I thought there was more nail varnish on than acrylic! The cost for this was £16 which is about right, if not a little cheaper than some other places, but I was very unhappy with the varnish and my wonky nail, even though the prep was very good. This could be down to who served me but it's put me off for life.
