I've gone to Nail Art in Wilmette off and on for a number of years. Great results for Mani- and pedicures always. Today I was unhappy with the owner, though. I had checked the website before booking a pedicure. Price is listed as $30. After the service was rendered, the owner told me it would be $35. Even when I said I was told $30 was the cost, she stuck with $35 without the courtesy of an apology for the changed price or misinformation. She was brusque and unsmiling and unpleasant. A crazy storm hit during my appointment at Celebrity Skin* so I had no choice, but to kill some time and indulge in a manicure conveniently located next door (under a covered area). They were able to take me right away. Hooray. As soon as I sat down the woman doing my nails noticed the redness under my eyebrows and asked if I had just gotten them waxed. When I confirmed she asked how much I paid and then let me know that they do they for less $ at Nail Art. Tacky! And so not a nice way to treat your neighboring businesses. Came here after my appt from Celebrity Skin. While browsing for my Nail colors, Michelle , the technician keeps calling me so I just pick the first red color and light pink that suits my eye. It was the fastest Mani pedi I got because she didn't clean my cuticles well. My nails were sloppy and some bubbles under the nail polish Another thing was they didn't change their sign outside. I have been going here on/off for years. Recently, I have been getting a no chip for the last 6 months. I spent $40 with a $10 tip. I had chips on 2 nails on my left hand a week after. I went in and asked to have them fixed. It's the owner I have a problem with. She started speaking in a different language and said 3 different times Sunday, referring to the fact it had been a week. I got my cousin a gift certificate to Nail Art since she was going to be needing mani/pedi for a fancy dinner event that she was going to. Rather than sending her off to some place downtown, I saw Nail Art while driving nearby and decided to stop by and thought my cousin may like this place. After her trip there, she was quite in love with how clean the facilities were and how kind all the ladies were inside. She said that she felt super comfortable while she was being taken care of, and they had nice quality equipment with great selection of nail colors. Plus, she didn't have to make an appointment and had ample parking in front of the facilities to make it a quick in and out trip. Simply terrible. My daughter and I went to Nail Art because our usual salon was too busy. I'm not all that picky about my nail salons and just wanted a good cleanup and polish. The technician who did my nails was ok, but the polish surface is applied unevenly and she didn't get any color on the sides of my nails. Plus, I had to scrape off the polish off my fingertips when I got home. My daughter had a different technician and it looks like a 5 year old applied her nail color. Gloppy, painted all over her cuticles, so thick it never was going to dry so we just took it off after hours of waiting for it to set. Her technician was rushed and distracted. I think because it was a child she just slapped polish on and went to help the next person. I'll never ever return. Shocked why it was so crowded in there. Go ANYWHERE else within a mile, everyone. HATE THIS PLACE. Never come here. I am very Unsatisfied with this place. To start off, my entire manicure lasted a total of 5 minutes. My cuticles were not cut, my nails were not filed evenly, and the polish was not applied smoothly, and therefore appeared rushed and quite frankly I could have done a better job myself. There was no second coat applied to my nails and 6 nails have already chipped off and it's only the second day. I've been going to Nail Art for the past 3 years. I can't afford to get a manicure every week, but I try to go once a month or every 6 weeks. Despite this, the manager is very brusque and often acts as though she's never seen me before. The Monday and Tuesday manicure deals are pretty inexpensive. The quality of the manicure seems to depend on the technician you get. Some take a reasonable amount of time while others finish the manicure in 15 minutes or less. To be fair to the technicians it appears that the manager tries to hurry them along and is more interested in speed than quality. My nails seem to chip within a couple of days after getting a manicure here. I've started looking for a new manicure place that's as close to home but that gets better Yelp reviews than this one. read more

I never made a yelp account or posted before but I had such a bad experience I felt I needed to share. I was so excited to try this place. I recently moved to the neighborhood and thought it would be so convenient to just walk across the street. My first experience was beyond terrible. I sat down and they didn't clean up from the pervious customers no chip manicure. They just covered the mess with a paper towel. Previous nail polish chips all over where I was resting my hands and arms. Tools were not cleaned. Nail tech reached over to where a customer just left and used those tools. Manicure was extremely rushed and two techs would switch off doing my nails, mid hand massage, mid painting. At end of manicure I had to ask for them to clean up the skin around nails from polish that missed my nails. If you're too busy to provide good clean service, it's better to turn customers away, rather than have them displeased. read more
