So typically, I go to a nail place in Oshawa or another place in Courtice but my mom was going down South for a week and decided to get our nails done at a different place this time. So 2 days before, we showed up in the store and booked an appointment and all seemed well until we returned for our appointment. They had written down that my mom wanted toe nails and finger nails done and shellac on her nails and I was getting just an average pedi.
So when we showed up, they started me first and my mom last, at first we didn't think much of it. Once my pedi was about halfway through and my mom reminded them that she wanted shellac they yelled at her and told her that not only did she need to say it when she booked the appointment but also when she showed up even though they looked at their book before they started (which stated shellac!). Once the girl started using the tools on my nails I noticed that it hurt an awful lot compared to past experiences at other places so I let her continue not thinking too much of it. My nails looked good, my mom didn't even end up getting her mani because they took way too long on her toes and then when she went to wax, they did an awful eyebrow job as well.
The night after, I noticed that my toes were quite swollen so I put on some slippers to bed thinking the worst (infection) just to take precaution. The next morning was Canada day of course with most businesses being closed and I woke up to purple toes, swollen, and yes, INFECTED!!! A nail salon goer's worst nightmare!!! My mother advised me to go to the clinic to be sure, and not only did the doctor take one look at my toes and say "Yup, infected", I had to pay for my antibiotics (as a student, paying for uncalled for prescriptions is definitely a headache) but I returned to the salon to let them know of my issue and they didn't even want to give me back my money! Unbelievable! This place was rude, didnt know how to give pedis, wax or even simple customer service. If you're looking for a friendly place to go that knows what they're doing, THIS IS NOT THE PLACE FOR YOU! read more
