When I went in for a consult, I was unfortunately not a good candidate for LASIK. Dr. Feinerman suggested another procedure called EVO ICL (Implantable Collamer Lens) that I was a good fit for. Despite the higher cost compared to LASIK, I was totally on board. I scheduled my surgery appointment afterwards and I was given instructions on how to prepare for the procedure (I had to put eye drops in beforehand). The surgery center Dr. Feinerman used was in Tustin (Barranca Surgery Center). I had a very early appointment and I didn't have to wait too long. The procedure took what felt like 10 minutes, but could have been way longer (the anesthesia worked like a charm!). I had my sister drive me home, there is no way you should try to drive yourself home after getting this done!! Immediately after the surgery, my vision had a noticeable improvement, with sensitivity to light. Over the next 3 months, my vision stabilized and I don't have dry eyes as often anymore. I've shown her a few highly edited photos of myself with my desired results. I originally chose Dr. Erb because her before / after results were the best I've seen. And after meeting with her via Zoom, I knew I'd found my Oculoplastic surgeon. She was extremely thorough during the interview, answering questions I've not even asked yet, and knew what I was going for. She went through the procedure with a fine-toothed comb, ensuring that I understood fully what to expect. Every question was answered, absolutely NOTHING was rushed. I felt extremely comfortable knowing I was in good hands. And Dr. Erb was so personable; I felt like I was the only patient in the world! On the day of surgery, I met with her staff, who were very accommodating, friendly and comforting (Gina is a riot!). They made me feel at ease before and after the surgery. Dr. Erb gave me some medication to induce sleep, and before I knew it, I was out. The procedure itself was pain-free. I was pretty groggy after surgery, and I can't remember too much. My healing from Day 0 was uneventful: no problems and no complications, just normal bruising and swelling, typical for someone my age. I'm pretty much a slow healer; I iced for the first week and a half to two weeks until I returned to Irvine for suture removal. The stitches were removed without a hitch (and felt amazing!), and now let the true healing begin! I'm now at one month+, and the results are incredible. The results look EXACTLY like my projected photos. I have zero complaints! I understand its only been a month, and my lids will continue to heal and de-swell. But if these results are any indication of what the final results will be, man oh man, I will re-name my first-born "Melanie"! Dr. Erb is extremely skilled in what she does, and she has great bedside manners. She truly listens to your wants and needs, and will do her best to keep you happy. From the moment I called to make the appointment, her and her staff was always very attentive and kind. The only time I was nervous during this process was that generally you're told you're supposed to get at least 3 consults before making a decision and I didn't; but I already knew it was going to be a waste of time if I went for other consults. As many reviews have pointed out, Dr Erb is double board certified in Oculoplastics surgery and ophthalmology. I knew I was in good hands and I'm so glad I was right! From the very beginning to even now, Dr Erb and her staff Gina and Annika were always there. After my first consultation, I was confident that I was in good hands; and within two weeks I was in the operating room after being cleared by both the Ophthalmologist and Optometrist for PRK--which is a bit more safe but tedious in recovery compared to LASIK. The entire staff are very accommodating, meticulous and pleasant to talk to. I called in countless times before committing and always had my questions thoroughly answered by Marvin. Leslie from the front desk always makes me feel at home when I step into the institute. I never felt pressured by Dr. Pham or Dr. Huynh to proceed with treatment, even though they took an abundance of tests on my eyes and clearly explained the risks and rewards of PRK--all before I even paid! I remember clearly when Dr. Pham told me, "Even if you don't get LASIK/PRK with us, I want you to leave this institute knowing to stop rubbing your eyes." My mom and I were definitely very anxious before surgery, but Orange County Lasik Institute made us feel safe with my decision. Now I know why so many other physicians recommend her. As far as her receptionist, I found her to be warm and very polite. I completely understand that patient interactions with the front office are extremely important but I found mine to be very positive. As far as collecting payment upfront, it is standard of care to collect co-pays upon checking since it is required by insurance law. I would advise any future patients to read about her on her website and to disregard the one created by someone who for what unknown reason dislikes her.
