They made me do a…read morevideo call to "meet the doctor" then billed me a level 5 though I didn't get any care, I was just going over my history. I didn't even mention problems I want to address. They do this to extract $ from you so you won't be "surprised" when they charge you money for asking a question at the annual yearly exam. So I wait 6 more months, the doctor remembers nothing about me and has an attitude of "why are you even here" because I'm healthy looking etc. It was such a waste of time. My doctor also seems miserable and overworked. Isn't helpful when I reach out for medical clearance via the portal either. My video call was in 2025 so that charge didn't even go towards this year. I wish they had clearly informed me more about the process of establishing care because I would've conducted myself differently if I understood. Now I don't even want to come back here I feel completely unwelcome and disregarded. I'm a cancer survivor that does need to do various follow ups but "my" doctor could care less about me. Sad

No one who treats patients this way should be allowed to continue practicing without serious consequences. I would NOT recommend this Dr to anyone!!!! This doctor and his assistant tina are completely unprofessional. They lie argue with patients and avoid responsibilities for refills or authorizations. Tina has zero manners, is extremely rude, overwhelmed, constantly complains instead of doing her job. This office is chaotic, careless and shows no respect for patients. I do not recommend them to anyone. I believe of every negative reviews patient posted here, because we have been experiencing them too !!!! Honesty I hope other patients report this doctor and his assistant to the proper authorities.

I used to have full coverage through motion, picture health and welfare benefits. When I was injured on the job, it forced me to take Medi-Cal and thus by me taking Medi-Cal I was fortunately, no I was blessed to be assigned to Dr Messina. And from the moment he got all my charts and files and reviewed and got up to speed, fully understanding the nigh-on irresponsibile care i had been receiving for almost 20 years from other doctors. He realized how poorly and over prescribed and just almost incompetently, I had been being treated for far too long by the doctors working at the motion picture health offices. Dr Messina is an old school doctor. He has no problems inviting you into his office and sit down and talk with you and he will take as long as he needs to explain something and he will tell you if he needs two hours it's gonna take two hours. He will not sugarcoat things, he will not give you what you want to hear just to get you out, and to his next patient. He absolutely WILL tell you exactly what is going on, and the truth, unfettered and not sugarcoated. If you need help understanding what he is saying, he will take as long as he needs to explain it to you in words that you can understand. But if you're looking for a "prescription pad" to write what YOU think you need or alternative medicine and doctor with hugs included. That's not him. This man has been doing it for 55 years. You count back 55 years and think about what he went through and what he has seen. I've talked to some of the people that know his background and the man is more than just a doctor. He really is concerned about healing. When he calls me in his office, the first thing I do is take my damn hat off, shake his hand and thank him for the time me made to see me, because he is honoring me with his time and care. Then on top of his abilities, Tina his a one woman office staff/manager/note taker/scheduler/referral coordinator/and honestly, I don't know enough about the medical industry to tell you what else she does, but I guarantee she does 10 more things that I don't even know about. But she somehow manages every single little detail with the utmost precision, efficacy and abject efficiency of any office full of 10 assistants. Whether you're a person of faith or not, all I can say is Dr Messina and Tina and their office might just be the greatest gift Gods ever given me.

On the other hand, the nurses aide that's in his office was not nice at all! Very rude! No bedside manners whatsoever! She did not introduce herself to him, did not make any eye contact or any type of connection to him, or even communicate and explain what she's going to do to him. She was doing ekg, and she looked stressed telling my husband blaming him for his hair and rudely asked him to stop talking! My husband gets very nervous every time he goes to a doctors office just because of a visit ... but this nurses aide did not help the whole situation! It wasn't like this at all either the other nurses last year but this one that was w him today was very rude and has a very condescending tone. My husband was very bothered by it. I told him to write an evaluation about it and he didn't want to because he said he does not want to put this nurse in trouble and he said he likes Dr Lee a lot and that's what matters to him. Dr Lee is definitely 5 stars but I'm taking off 3 stars because of this nurses aide!

Otherwise it's the Physician Assistants. That was ok with me as I liked the PA I usually saw who was Jillian. She seemed to know when she needed to bring in the doctor and when she didn't. That being said, I was never very sick so she could pretty much handle everything. I am very sad that I have had to leave their practice. When you turn 65, I guess they feel they don't make enough money with what Medicare plus what your supplemental pays for a visit, so they charge you a flat fee EVERY YEAR just to be a part of the doctor's practice. $1500 extra per person, per year! Doesn't matter if you have great supplemental insurance (which we do). That's a lot of money and we couldn't afford the $3,000 a year. I guess it's the new thing and other doctors are doing it. But it's not for me. I am now at a wonderful doctor who is excellent and very happy to take Medicare plus my supplemental. He doesn't need for me to pay for him to have a much fancier lifestyle than what I have. He can drive a Prius just like me and it's ok with him. Maybe Dr. Bretsky doesn't want to do Geriatric Medicine and it's his way of thinning out the older patients. I get that. That's his choice. But then I'm not sure why the office acted surprised and a little disappointed that we weren't staying with the practice when I let them know. So if you're in you are creeping up on 65 and looking for a doctor, just be aware that a large fee per year will be looming in your future. If you're ok with this, then he's a great doctor and a very nice office.

The worst emergency room experience I've had in my entire life…read more I came to UCLA Santa Monica ER on June 30, 2025 around 1:30 AM with dizziness, high blood pressure, and a headache. I was subjected to multiple failed and painful IV attempts by four different nurses, one of whom grabbed my arm roughly. My concerns were repeatedly dismissed. I was then left hooked up to an IV without a call button, unable to move, and had to scream for help through the door just to get someone's attention. The nurse who finally responded told me she could "see my vitals from somewhere else" and walked away without checking on me. This is negligent and dangerous. I have filed a formal complaint and I encourage anyone who has experienced mistreatment here to speak up. This level of care is not just unprofessional -- it's unsafe. Thank you for the response. I have already submitted a formal complaint to both UCLA Patient Experience and the California Department of Public Health. I'm open to sharing additional information through the proper investigative channels, but it's also important to publicly highlight this issue. The lack of response and care I experienced was deeply upsetting, and I hope real steps are taken to prevent this from happening again.
