I will NEVER come back to this place! A friend recommended them as a competent & cheap place for…read morehairstyling. Her entire family came here regularly and the stylist knew them by name. She does a good job, takes walk ins and WAS affordable. She knows I live over 50 miles away. The front door says "No Appointments Necessary, Walk-ins Welcomed." My first hair coloring and style was $55. It looked great and was affordable. The next time I got it colored, it was again $55 for just the touch up. I then decided to get the straight perm. The menu on the wall says "$99 and up." I asked her what the price was for me (I have shoulder length hair) and she quoted me $99. My hair looked great. I loved it. Then third time I went to get my hair colored, she surprised me at the register with a $75 price. When I asked why it went up, she said its what I've paid every time. She claimed I just didn't remember. I remembered and didn't come back for months. The next time I came in for a hair coloring, I asked her in advance how much it would cost and she quoted me $55. She seemed irritated with me for asking and put the part in my hair in a different place than I asked. It was weird and awkward. It reminded me of Marie in "Everybody Loves Raymond" with the passive aggressive attitude she was having with me. A few weeks later, I came in for another straight perm. I asked her the price... $99. I sat in the chair and there were zero other customers in there. She said she was too busy to do it and I'd have to come in another day and make an appointment. I was not happy. I called in a few weeks later and tried to make an appointment. She said she was free and I didn't need an appointment. I drove there and didn't ask the price - and it was another register surprise: $125. I asked her why it went up and she said I had paid that same amount last time. I always pay with cash. Her retort is always, "you just don't remember. Check your credit card statement. You'll see." I didn't come back for a year. I decided to give her another chance and went in for another straight perm. I sat in the waiting area for 45 minutes before she acknowledged my presence. She then patted on the chair for me to hop in. I asked the price on the straight perm and she quoted me $175!! I hopped out of the chair and said, "I can't afford that." She replied, "that's what you pay last time. You just don't remember." OMG! I replied that my memory was fine and that I'd never spend that much on hair - ever. She then says (not kidding), "I don't have time for you today. Maybe you come back and call in for appointment next time." Again, no customers were in there other than me. That was the last straw. I headed out. She even followed me to the door and asked when I'd be back. Seriously? I informed her I would never return. She seemed unfazed. I called my friend who had recommended this place to tell her what had transpired. She told me that her family had stopped going a year ago because she started that random pricing game with them as well. This gal doesn't get it. Her appeal was her pricing. It was affordable. That's what had me making a 110 mile round trip to go here. Once she went psycho random on the pricing and her attitude went wonky, what would motivate me to return? She does nothing more spectacular than a thousand other stylists between her place and mine.

I decided to try this salon and booked with Libby, and I'm so glad I did! She really took the time to listen to what I was unhappy with about my previous cut, watched a short video I showed her of the style I was going for, and made sure she understood exactly what I wanted before she started. I have very thick hair, and Libby did a great job with the layering and texturing while still keeping the length I'm trying to grow out. And most importantly--she listened when I told her not to cut my bangs too short! I'm really happy with my updated cut and have already received several compliments. I also really enjoyed my time at the salon--the atmosphere was welcoming, the conversation was great, and the whole experience was genuinely enjoyable. I've already recommended Libby to a couple of friends with long, layered hair, and I will definitely be back and requesting her again!

I want to start by saying that my student stylist, Diasia, was wonderful. She was knowledgeable,…read moreattentive, and really listened to my hair needs. I felt comfortable with her throughout the service and was very pleased with the care she provided. Unfortunately, my experience with the front desk staff, specifically Lae and Cicily, was much less positive. At check-in, I greeted Lae and asked how she was doing, and her only response was a very stark "blessed," which immediately came across as unwelcoming. My checkout experience with Cicily was even more uncomfortable. Her greeting felt sarcastic, and she proceeded to question Diasia about the timing and cost of my service in a way that felt unnecessary and condescending, especially considering the instructor had already reviewed and signed off on the quote that was presented to me. I understand that this is a learning environment, and based on my experience with Diasia, there are clearly very talented and capable students at Paul Mitchell Dallas. However, the front desk is the first and last interaction clients have with the school, and unfortunately, those interactions made an otherwise positive appointment difficult to enjoy. Customer-facing staff should be receptive, professional, and accommodating. I would absolutely recommend Diasia based on the service she provided, but the front desk experience would make me hesitant to return.

I highly recommend Paul Mitchell to anyone looking to further their education and pursue a career in the beauty industry. My time there gave me hands-on experience with all different types and textures of hair, while also teaching me professionalism, confidence, communication, and what it truly takes to succeed in this industry. One of the biggest things I would tell future students is that your education is what you make of it. Paul Mitchell gives you the educators, resources, opportunities, and hands-on experience, but you have to be willing to show up, ask questions, practice, make mistakes, and keep learning. Take advantage of every opportunity, don't be afraid to step outside your comfort zone, and don't compare your journey to anyone else's. The more you put into your education, the more you will get out of it. I am incredibly thankful for my amazing educators, Whitney, Kat, Michelle, Amy, and Sarah. Thank you for your patience, knowledge, encouragement, and for always pushing me to become better. Each of you made an impact on my education and helped me grow more confident in my abilities. A huge thank you as well to my advisors, Jessica, Laura, and Veronica, for always supporting, guiding, and encouraging me throughout my journey. Looking back, I am so grateful for everything Paul Mitchell gave me. If you're considering cosmetology school, come ready to learn, work hard, ask questions, and grow. You truly get out what you put in, and the experience can become something really special when you take advantage of it. Thank you to everyone at Paul Mitchell who played a part in my journey and helped me become the stylist I am today!

Mina agreed to do a strand test so I could feel comfortable that hair would accept the color ok. After the highlights I gone back for a keratin treatment for my unruly hair. Mina paid great attention to my main concern and focused on the details. The reason I got the treatment on the first place was because my curly hair was no longer giving me the results that I had up to few years ago. I was spending a lot of money to style it and was washing every other day. My hair was no longer presentable. I was now in need of a solution to minimize the time and product used on daily basis. I am very happy with the results after the keratin treatment. I left the salon with very little leave in product and there was no need to add any more once I got home. Thanks Mina yo give me manageable hair again!
