A complete and utter rip off ! If you want to throw away your money than go here. i was having a…read morefan issue and brought it here because i drive by this place every day so thought hey i may as well because its convenient. So when i take in down stairs to him he asks me whats wrong with it and i tell him that its my fan and i was the guy on the phone, as I'm telling him this he plugs my computer into his network and monitor. Keep in mind my computer worked perfectly without any fault whatsoever before bringing it to him. As he turns his screen on it went blue and froze then wanted to dump all the files. he tried it again and it did the same thing then he was like i guess it needs a new hard drive which will cost you 250.00 plus my time and the fan which is 35.00 as i have a part from a old computer for you. I took it home and tried it there and the computer was fine except for the squeaky fan, i took it back to him in which case he did the same thing and it portrayed the same stuff again, i asked him why it was not doing that at my place and he said he wasn't sure. Its almost like he has some kinda set up to sc*ew people out of there money that don't know much about computers, needless to say he didn't get my money and i took it to a friend that replaced the fan for a six pack and ever since the computer has been fine!

I went to Geek Squad after taking the time to first phone their customer service line and confirm…read morethey offered the service I was looking for. I was informed they did, but when I got to their Red Deer location I was told that they would "absolutely not" help with my issue in the most arrogant and dismissive way possible. I understand that mix ups happen, but basic manners cost nothing, and nobody appreciates that kind of attitude. They don't seem to care about inconveniencing their customers, or even extending basic courtesy, so I won't be back.

I needed my computer looked at and called Vince Davies at Central Computer Technologies. His…read morereviews all seemed great. When I went to drop off my computer he was acting a very bizarre manner - sort of frantic. He spoke in rapid fire sentences, ran in and out of the room and kept checking his watch. Then he got out some paperwork and started taking down my computer info which he did very thoroughly (but very frantically), presented me with a 3 page legal contract that was very convoluted (full of double talk and legalese), told me it was "just the usual stuff" and instructed me to just initial and sign. I expressed that I needed to read the contract and he replied that I could if I wanted to. He explained he had gotten the contract from a mechanic and it was to protect himself. The contract stated that: * He was not responsible for any damages that he did to my computer. When I asked about this, he said that while the contract did state that, he would 'make it right' if he did damage my computer. At this point I stated that I wished the contract was written in straightforward and clear layman's terms that were able to be understood by all. He replied that it was. I explained that if it was, then the expectations of both parties would be clear and concise. I had only his word that it meant what he said it did, and that he would 'make right' any damage he caused. He became upset and stated that it needed to be written that way and obviously not everyone had the same IQ. I did a sort of mental eyebrow lift at that. * That it was my responsibility to back up my data before hand as he was not responsible for any loss of data. When I expressed that it would have been nice to know that ahead of time, so I could have backed up all my data he said he could not be expected to tell me everything ahead of time. I didn't reply as he was becoming more agitated and began pacing back and forth in front of me. But it stands to reason, if I am responsible for backing up my own data prior to arriving (even though he told me he would be doing that), then I should know before I take my computer in. * That I waived all my rights to take him to court for any reason whatsoever, and I accepted that he had no liability for any of his work. * That if I was in any way unhappy with his service or work, I was prohibited from sharing what happened and I was not even permitted to share my thoughts online. At that moment I realized that this was probably why he had almost exclusively good reviews online. When I asked about this clause, he became visibly flustered, and said that yes, sharing any negative thoughts or feelings online was considered libel. I explained that it was only libel if it was untrue. This seemed to push him over the edge and he asked me to leave. He wished me good luck with finding anyone else to help me. I left there, went to the Geek Squad who informed me that all I needed was a security patch. They charged me $40 and took 5 minutes. Vince did not work on my computer, so I cannot say if he is good at his job or not, but it was discouraging that what said he had to do to fix it, was absolutely wrong. I waited to write a review until I had a chance to sleep on it, but then decided that it was only fair to everyone else out there, like myself, who relies on reviews if I shared my experience.

I emailed Vince my concerns and he was able to help coach me through the necessary steps to repair the concerns myself. I was reluctant at first as I just wanted the problems fixed but by the end, I felt more knowledgeable and independent in managing future computer related issues. Vince really wanted me to gain the knowledge for myself as it would make me better equipped to manage computer issues in the future. I feel that the breadth of my computer knowledge has grown overall. Thank you Vince!
