History
Established in 2011.
I raised azaleas and made corsages and boutonnieres as a child, I delivered flowers to pay my way through graduate school, I wrote a wedding planning book with a Catholic twist, I became President of a bridal nonprofit, I took a class in hand-tied bouquets, a generous friend passed on her home-based floral inventory of supplies, and she empowered me to launch a home-based floral design business. I grabbed my favorite title of Mary Our Mother, Mystical Rose, and decided to begin with referrals from the ground up. I'm really excited and impassioned, because I really love making flowers look beautiful and seeing the reactions on others' faces when they receive them.
Meet the Business Owner: Melanie C.
Melanie Cameron began this florist business and floral ministry in 2011 after entering the DC ISES Tabletop Competition. Creating a work of art with flowers that were in the theme of the universe and the stars, she acquired the design bug.
Her artistic talents come from an eye for "bodegones" or "still life portraits," especially the works of Spanish Artist Diego Velázquez.
In terms of professional floristry, in 2013, she was trained in flower treatment and high-end wedding designs by world-renowned California-based Dutch Florist, Rene van Rems at a seminar entitled, "Fashion Forward Weddings: Bouquets, Tablescapes, and Beyond." Also, Cameron is trained in European hand-tied bouquets by the Middle Atlantic Flower Association, MAFA.
She has designed for weddings at the esteemed Four Seasons, St. Regis of Washington, DC, The Barns at Wolf Trap, The Naval Academy Officer's Club, and many many other locations.
Melanie works as a floral ministry to brides to give them hope.
