We received this orchid last week as a delivery and only 2 days in, we noticed the leaves wilting/translucent. They started to ooze fluid and just fell apart. Looking more closely it looks like the roots were moldy. (And I had not even attempted to water the plant at this point.) My brother also received an orchid from the same business on the same day and had the exact same problem, so it makes me suspicious that this florist does not know how to care for plants and are making deliveries that look nice upon arrival but do not last. :( 2 stars because I realize I am on the receiving end of this orchid delivery so I can't speak to the ordering process/pricing. I absolutely love the floral arrangements from Panam Florist. This is my go-to florist for myself as well as for friends. The arrangements are always high quality and elegant, and they receive compliments from family and friends alike. I often found myself disappointed or unimpressed with other flower delivery companies, so once I found Panam, I haven't gone back. I'm lucky enough to live within their delivery range, which is especially great when I can't stop by myself to pick up the blooms. I've been meaning to review Pan Am Florist since last year when they saved me some time and money. I called around to almost every florist in the Northern VA / DC area to find blue hydrangeas for some birthday centerpieces. Most were very upfront letting me know that these sell out quickly or must be special ordered for a pretty penny. All of them quoted ridiculously high prices to order them. I tried going in person to those wholesale florists but blue hydrangeas aren't the most common. Pan Am saved me! Not only was this florist one of the most reasonably priced but they were able to get them to me just in time for me to arrange the centerpieces. She did end up being one hydrangea short from what I needed but she was able to improvise! She sprayed blue floral paint on a white hydrangea. It wasn't ideal but I really appreciated her effort. The hydrangeas received a bunch of compliments. They didn't have too much in stock in their shop but it seems like they have access to a good bulk florist that can deliver on time and for the right price. read more

I walked in and was able to get serviced immediately. They were friendly, professional and very quick! I asked for a nice bouquet, gave her a budget and they were very attentive, helping me select the right colors appropriate for the occasion. After purchading the bouquet of flowers, they even assisted me with securing it in my car. They also do online orders and deliveries in the area. I am HIGHLY suspicious of these 5 start ratings because the consistency of the complaints vs. the other "great" reviews. Buyer beware. But don't take my word for it. A picture says it much better. Let me introduce you to my $85 dollar "amazing self-destructing bridal bouquet". Why did we call it the "amazing self-destructing bouquet"? Because if you so much as looked at it - something fell out. Wilted greenery, wilted poinsettias, wilted roses. Issues: 1) This florist is a hack and DOES not know what they are doing. 2) They used a $6 buck Michael's craft store bouquet holder, not the one they showed me originally, tried to *bling it up* and that failed miserably. 3) The florist didn't know how to treat the cut stems of poinsettias before using them in a floral arrangement. (Singe them, glue them or wrap them up with something wet or they will WILT immediately.) A PROFESSIONAL would have known that or at least looked it up. 4) Re-used roses, the stem cuts were days browned and the roses were beginning to droop. Really? Florist REALLY? Re-cut the stems and perk them up if you're going to take short-cuts. 5) Using the wrong type of foam for the cut stems. (Once again a hack mistake!) This type of foam wasn't floral foam it was STYROFOAM and even according to the Michael's website is supposed to be used with hot glue and FAKE flowers. 6) Unbalanced design, fill-in greenery too sparse, no artistry to the overall design. (So bad in fact wedding photographer offered to Photoshop in a better bouquet.) Get that! A GUY even wanted to fix it. As a firm you need to go back to school, read SEVERAL books on floral arrangements, or close. read more

What is the job of a florist? To serve as a liaison between someone who wishes they could be there in person for someone, but can't. In this particular situation, some friends and I wished more than anything we could be there for a fellow friend. Something very tragic occurred and we are scattered all over the United States. One friend went through 1-800- Flowers and they outsourced to Pan Am. The flowers were delivered on Wednesday, January 22, around 2:00. When our friend found the flowers, sadly they were dead. Granted, it was 10 degrees but shouldn't the florist have known better than to leave fresh flowers in the freezing cold? Our friend, recipient of said dead flowers, called to inquire if there was anything Pan Am could do as she was going through a very difficult tragedy and was basically told that they didn't care. I thought that is why you have a flower business, because you care, and you want to be that liaison when people can't be there in person. Next time, we will be using a company who actually cares about what they do, not just about the money. I am disgusted in your Pan Am, disgusted. read more

I was desperately searching for a florist on the way to Fairfax Hospital, and this was the closest one that came up besides the gift shop in the hospital itself. I will never visit Pan Am Florist again and I cannot recommend it in any way. When I entered the shop, I was greeted by a barking dog and 2 small children. It was only when I asked about the availability of a flower arrangement (there were NONE on display except for those that had delivery tags on them) that an adult appeared. There were no arrangements from which to choose and a very small selection of cut flowers available for sale. The gentleman assured me he could make me an arrangement in 10 minutes. I selected 7 brightly colored gerber daisies, the only cut flowers that looked fresh enough to use for an arrangement. 30 minutes later, and the only customer in the shop, I was still waiting to be rung up. The final arrangement was unattractive and looked as though a child had arranged it. The 7 bloom arrangement cost me a ridiculous $35. It was hardly worth $15. And my card was charged twice. The manager who showed up 25 minutes into my visit, finally had to refund the extra charge in cash. I have absolutely nothing good to say about this visit. Thanks for a ruined Valentine's Day. I used their website to order some Valentine's Day flowers for my fiance (whose favorite holiday is Valentine's Day), and they never showed up. I called around 5:45 in the evening to see where they were and was told they were out for delivery and that they have a lot of deliveries to make. Once 9:00 hit, I called again and was told that the flowers weren't delivered (clearly). I had to give them my credit card information again to get a refund. As of this writing, it's still listed as "pending" on my account. I'll keep an eye on it to make sure it gets removed once the next business week starts. The worst part is, I saw someone selling flowers at the Metro exit that day and I considered getting some there as a backup. I also considered driving somewhere on my way home to see if anything was available since I don't know what quality to expect from Metro flowers. It turns out I should have. Flowers the day after Valentine's Day don't really count, so now I have to wait another year to make it up. read more

This florist sent poor quality flowers in a vase that did not match the description and then, when a complaint was made, called up the purchaser (us), did not apologize but simply asked "Are you going to return the flowers." I am appalled at the attitude of this florist. One would think that a florist would have some kind of decency or heart but not Pan Am Florists. A friend was going through a tough time and since we were unable to be by her side we opted to send flowers. The flowers were left at her front door in 10 degree weather and they died, so how are dead flowers supposed to make someone who is going through a tough time feel better? And yes it gets even worse, when our friend called and asked for replacement flowers Pan Am told her that they would deliver new flowers when it was convenient for them not her!! Thankfully the flowers were ordered through 1800flowers and they were able to find a different company to send flowers to her. I would stay away from Pan Am Florists, their website even states, "Family owned and committed to offering only the finest floral arrangements and gifts, backed by service that is friendly and prompt. Because all of our customers are important, our professional staff is dedicated to making your experience a pleasant one. That is why we always go the extra mile to make your floral gift perfect. My boyfriend ordered me flowers from here. They were delivered in a timely manner, and the roses were beautiful. The arrangement did not come in the vase advertised, it came in a standard, cheap, cylinder vase which is typically used to deliver wedding bouquets...so, a throw away vase. read more

I recently used Pan Am Florist to arrange flowers for my Aunt's memorial service. The florist sat down with my mother and I and showed us several examples of memorial arrangements. She was patient and helped us stay within a budget. We ordered a centerpiece arrangement to hold a framed picture and two side arrangements. The center flowers were a mix of red, green, and white flowers. The side arrangements were mostly red flowers. On the day of the memorial service the flowers arrived on time. They were fresh and so beautifully put together. I thought they did a great job on such short notice. I will definitely use them again. read more

I read a few of the comments below and i think the experience people are talking about is when they 3rd party order the flowers. I received a bouquet for my birthday from a business. It was a very unattractive arrangement, with many different flowers that had no connection to floral design. It also contained "fillers" which are inexpensive greenery that the florist uses in lieu of flowers. I have been a garden club member for many years, so consider myself knowledgeable regarding what is a lovely arrangement and what isn't. read more

The round arrangement was designed to have a front and back rather than round, presumably to use fewer flowers. For now on I will call Karin's Florist in Vienna. They are much better! read more

Ordered a flower plant for Mothers Day and had it all set to be there this weekend, now they canceled my order while I was at work because they claim they ran out. Instead of asking if I wanted something else or doing something else they just issued a refund and I have to wait seven days for that money back, now I can't even send flowers to my mother on time for mothers day without spending a ton of money. Several friends and I had flowers delivered to our friend in a time of need because we all felt terrible we could not be there with her to mourn a devastating loss. To hear the flowers we sent her were dead was bad enough. But, to add insult to injury, the florist was extremely rude to her when she called asking about a replacement. Reading other reviews, it appears this is not the first time this "florist" has had the same complaints. THIS PLACE RUINED MY VALENTINES DAY! My fiance was trying to surprise me with flowers for Valentines Day!..Well he didn't want to take a chance dealing with a major flower company because it was V-day and he didn't want to risk me not getting them. So a week before Valentines Day he goes into Pan Am Florist which is literally 2 minutes from where i work and pays for a flower arrangement and DELIVERY to my job. (I work so close to pan am that i could have been walked there). So valentines day comes and i get nothing.. finally my fiance who is livid by now ask me did i get a delivery..I told him that I did not..that's when he explained that he was trying to surprise me with flowers. To make a long story short my fiance tried 10 times to call Pan Am Florist at there local 703 number no answer. 11th try he got through and was told the driver was still out making deliveries and that they still could make it to me...after he told me that I was so upset that I personally called from work myself and my coworker as well the same 703 number at least 8 times and no answer I finally tell my co-woker that I am going to walk over there... We find an 800 number for them we call that one. A gentleman answers... I explained my situation and he said uhhhhhh there right here.. (keep in mind its after 6 o'clock and my job is now been closed for 30 min) he said these were for pick up.. I said NO THEY WERE NOT.. he said uhh ohh im sorry ill have someone bring them.. THEY WERE NEVER OUT FOR DELIVERY! I could not believe it they had never even been sent out!!!!!!! I was heated.. my entire valentine surprise was ruined by Pan am florist. so 5 mins after I hang up the phone. A lady shows up at my job with flowers..I tell her to have someone from management call me as she had no idea why my flowers didn't make it to me 2 mins away from the florist..and of course no one called me..i would not recommend or trust Pan Am Florist with any special occasion as they have proven that they do not CARE! read more

If I could rate them 0 stars I would. For just a second try to imagine the most devastating loss a parent can suffer and then imagine dead flowers left at your doorstep. Are you crying yet? I am. Imagine wanting to comfort your friend during their incredibly difficult loss but being hours and hours away - so you send flowers to try and let that person know they are loved, supported and you are thinking about them constantly only to find out what happened... You guessed it... I'm crying again. So my friend calls the florist to ask them to replace the flowers and no call back originally.... So now I call 1800Flowers to tell them what happened because that's where I placed my order and ask them to replace the flowers. They were mortified and thank goodness they have excellent costumer service because Pan Am certainly doesn't. 1800Flowers said they would replace the flowers and have the florist redeliver them. The florist proceeded to call my friend and basically tell her they don't give a crap about her situation or when she'll be home and they'll deliver them only between a certain time so she needs to figure out when she'll be available within the florists time frame... ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? So I call 1800Flowers and tell them to find another florist because this is completely unacceptable. Luckily there are many others in the area. I urge you not to use this florist. They don't care about their flowers, their customers or their recipients... I don't know how they stay in business. Disgusted. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME by going to this florist. First of all, they don't know what they are doing. They don't know the first thing about flowers, their names and seasonal availability --- seriously, they have a flower shop!!!!! I had spent almost 2 hours going over what i wanted for my wedding flowers at an appointment i set up one weekend. They said since they are busy they can't provide me the quote until after 1 month. I was fine with that. But i got so mad when i called at the date they said they will provide the quote to find out that they don't even remember a thing we spoke about during our consultation! Nor they have a quote for me!!! I, not only wasted 1 month waiting for these incompetent people but lost a florist that i could have gone with for my wedding! On a side note - none of the people that work at the shop speaks English so you can only imagine how hard it is to communicate with them.
