My experience was okay, with a few hiccups. I ordered a bouquet online for a party, scheduled the following week at 11:30. 1. On their website, I picked the earliest pick-up time, which was 10:00 - not very early. 2. I received a confirmation email that had the correct information, but then I received a second, less professional confirmation email that had my pickup time as 11:00. I called to ask what had happened and they said 10:00 is when they receive the order but 11:00 is when it would be ready for pickup. Maybe I missed this explanation on their website, but the first confirmation email definitely made this more confusing than it needed to be. 3. When I went to pick the bouquet up, the florist said "11:30, right?" which of course was both incorrect and alarming considering the proximity to the start of the party. HOWEVER, the florist finished the bouquet quickly, and while the flowers weren't perfect, it was lovely and smelled wonderful. Flowers are part of nature and nature is unpredictable and imperfect. She asked how I would be carrying it and wrapped the base in plastic, tissue paper, and heavy cardboard. The business is also located basically in the same building as the metro stop, which is very very convenient. Something I want to note though is that I had no issue with the florist's personality. I may have had a different person than the other reviewers but for me she was fine, nothing more or less. read more

They didn't seem to want my business. I walked down to the shop to discuss with them two items I wanted them to assemble for a friend's bridal shower. I arrived on Monday, around 11:30 a.m. (during their posted business hours), and the store was shuttered. I called the business number and explained to the lady what I was looking for -- she quoted me a price that was VERY high, and then went on to pedantically explain at length why I couldn't have some of the flowers or ribbons I wanted. She also explained that they needed at least 48 hours to assemble the corsage I was requesting (I had given 24). She spoke very quickly and she seemed exasperated with me. She invited me to come BACK to the shop later in the day when someone would be in. I figured I had already shown up there once, and she didn't seem to enjoy working with me. I called House of Flowers, and the experience was the EXACT OPPOSITE. "Sure, we can do that for you. Yes, we can make that part of the arrangement..." I ordered from them, instead. My boyfriend ordered me a bouquet from here for Valentine's Day and JUST two days later, they're already wilting. They actually started yesterday, but I just rotated the vase to not look at the 1-2. Before you ask, No, they are not in direct sunlight. I checked the flower stems this morning as more are wilting and they are cut so short that they don't reach the water. I believe they were meant to survive off of the solution in the foam, but Valentine's day was just 2 days ago... I didn't expect this to happen so fast. I typically can keep flowers alive and well for at least a week. Overall, quite underwhelmed and disappointed with this bouquet. Just adding, we actually called Capitol Florists. They said this bouquet only lasts 3-4 days, so they must have had these flowers prepared and out 1-2 days before delivery as they started dying the following day. It was hard to find at first, but we are tourist in D.C., we always get lost! When we got there, the business was closed for lunch. My wife called them and Maria answered. We informed Maria what we needed and she said that she would be able to make a quick bouquet for us once she got back. So we went to lunch and about 30 minutes later we came back. Maria was able to quickly get our bouquet assembled, watered, wrapped and ready to go in 10 minutes. Maria did a fantastic job and the bouquet was beautiful. We were quite pleased with our experience at Capitol Florist. Maria was very helpful and knowledgeable with what types of flowers to use. I ordered a little garden arrangement in a glass cylinder from here to be delivered to my boyfriend on his birthday. My boyfriend wasn't home when they went to his house so they held on to the delivery. I called them for a status update the next morning and they happily offered to deliver the gift to his place of employment instead, free of charge. I thought that was very generous. My only complaint is that there isn't any type of email address on their website (maybe there is and I just missed it). I put in an order for delivery of flowers and chocolates to my wife's workplace on 1/23/2018. Her workplace closes at 3pm so I requested delivery before noon. Today, on Valentines day, it is 2:45 and I had not received any kind of confirmation of delivery so I called the shop. They not only failed to deliver they also failed to contact me to tell me they couldn't deliver. Then got nasty with me because I was pissed!!!! The flowers were for a funeral.
