The room had no USB ports to use in charging my phone or any other modern electronics, at this point I have come to expect that all I need is a USB cord. The lighting in the bathroom was a bit dim to my liking. The breakfast overall was fine with some nice touches, however they were out of quite a few items: no regular tea, no yogurt, pancake machine not working, and no hot cereal. So we flew from LAX to Buffalo, NY, which allowed us to visit Niagara Falls (stunning) and then take a quick drive south to Bradford, PA (home of Zippo lighters). The first thing one notices when entering this part of Pennsylvania is how well-kept the homes and farms are. And when you turn onto the access road to the Glendorn Lodge, you see their farm-to-table patch of a vegetable farm. Once through the gate, the drive is a couple of miles to the main lodge and check-in. The staff are so wonderful and polite, calling us by our last names, which is very formal but a nice touch! Our home, cabin, was lovely beyond description. The master bedroom was stunning, the screened-in porch was perfect for 10 to 12 people hanging out (ideal for a family reunion), and we had an outdoor fireplace/pit blazing and roasting marshmallows for the kids. The next morning, we rode bicycles that you keep at your cabin home. We went out on a small lake with paddleboards, canoes, kayaks, etc. We also played volleyball and had lunch catered and delivered to the lake - fantastic service. The next day we played tennis, swam, basketball and even shot skeet! As our time at Glendorn came to a close, we reflected on the unparalleled service and the deep sense of relaxation we experienced throughout our stay. The staff truly went above and beyond, ensuring every detail was perfect, and their personalized approach made us feel like cherished guests rather than just visitors. To cap off our trip, we took a leisurely drive back toward Buffalo, savoring the memories of Niagara Falls and our time at the resort. We felt safe and at home throughout, and this hotel put cleanline at top priority even before the pandemic. Onto more fun stuff! The staff here is top notch. So friendly and helpful and a pleasure to interact with. We brought our dog, Freddy Sue, this time around, and I would absolutely recommend this hotel to fellow dog owners looking to take their pup to a dog friendly town. It is a $70 charge which is steep, but was worth it to us in terms of peace of mind, especially with the off peak rate of this hotel on a Saturday to Sunday being $140. The beds are SO comfortable and I had such an awesome night's rest. Of course, the location cannot be beat. In the non-COVID times, we bopped from restaurant to restaurant drinking our way through the town and it was amazing to be able to come right back to the center of town as home base. No charging stations and the couch was old and ratty. We will not be back to this place. UPDATE: I complained on my survey and was contacted by a customer service representative and they gave the company response "sorry for your bad experience we will try hard" which I replied, typical response, I don't believe you even read my additional comments. I said that there was a time when customers were compensated for bad experiences but now it is , we got your money, sorry. About a hour later a got a reply that half my money was being refunded. I am a long-time member of the Choice Privileges network, and pick a hotel in that chain when possible to accumulate points. So that led us to this Quality Inn. We have stayed here before, but it has probably been a decade-plus. Last time this was a Comfort Inn, which has since been demoted to a Quality. But honestly, I thought this Quality was just as nice, if not nicer than some Comfort's. I booked a King hot tub room on the Choice website. The listing gave me the impression that it was a single room with a big jetted tub. But to our chagrin, when we opened the door it was a two-plus room suite! The bedroom had the King and the large jetted tub, which worked great. The attached room had TWO full couches, and a desk space. Both rooms had a TV. The entry hallway had a sizable wet bar. Plus there was a nice full bathroom with a larger tub. The room was bright, clean and comfortable. And this huge wonderful suite was A STEAL of A DEAL! I used my union discount, and paid just $79 (plus tax) a night on the weekend! Even without the discount, the room was still listed under $100 per night (this was late April). We've stayed at our fair share of Choice Hotel hot tub rooms over the years, and this was an excellent price for much more quality than we expected! The hotel is undergoing some renovation, which I hope doesn't ultimately jack up the price too much. Our room and much of the hallways had new carpet. And they are removing the pool area, and putting in efficiency apartments for their regular longer-term tenants who are working in the area. Really all of the shared spaces seemed fairly face-lifted and fresh. My husband indulged in the morning breakfast buffet, which was back to the pre-COVID spread. There were some hot items, like eggs and breakfast meats. And the waffle makers were back in operation. He was particularly stoked when on Sunday AM they served biscuits and gravy, his fave hotel breakfast offering. The usual additional continental options like breads, cereals, pastries, yogurts, and fruits were also available. The breakfast space was clean and comfortable. This Quality is in an excellent location for a peaceful, relaxing weekend in quaint little Bradford, PA. We parked the car on Friday (they have an easy and ample lot), and didn't drive again until we checked out on Sunday. You can walk to several restaurants and shops in the historic downtown area. The movie theater is a short walk away, too. You can also walk to the Zippo Museum and the Marilyn Horne Museum, both of which are free admission. Walking to the Uni-Mart convenient store and Tops groceries are minutes away too. Everything was within about a fifteen minute or less or so stroll, with tons of beautiful late-19th-century architecture along the way. There is food and fun for a couple, a family, or a solo traveler. And this hotel is pet friendly, so for Fido or Felix, too! ;-) A special note to my 716-area WNY Yelp friends--Bradford, PA is an excellent sneak-away getaway destination! Really! Who knew?! Well, I grew up not far from here. So I knew, haha. But I'm spreading the word to you, my fellow WNY Yelpers, ha! It is about an hour and twenty minutes drive from Buffalo, far enough that you feel like you are going somewhere without having to go too far. The affordability of this hotel, the good restaurants a short walk away, and the quick drive to some natural adventures (like Kinzau Dam State Park or Griffis Sculpture Park on the way home), make Bradford a quirky but still solid option to escape life for a couple days!
