I walk through the doors to an attitude from Tanya saying I was the last person to check in. And apparently she had to stay until I got there. On top of that, the out front unloading zone and parking lot had not even been plowed or treated with salt. Therefore, what a hassle trying to get your luggage in the middle of the night. As everyone knows the brand Wyndham is typically on target however this location is not. For the price of the rooms and the brand was very disappointed, not only with the service but the condition of the room. I will say my bed was very comfortable however, the pillows needed thrown away as there was really nothing left to them as you picked them up they folded into and were all floppy. Zero support! My duvet cover showed a huge rip that had been sewn back together, Underneath the heating unit, there were all kinds of wires that had been spliced sticking out, grabbing your feet when you went by, cloth chair, a huge stain on it, mini fridge was frozen up, coffee pot was dirty, dirt around bathroom vanity faucet, bathroom exhaust fan didn't work at all, peeling paint from the bathroom mirror frame, grout in the bathroom with two different colors, tub drained very slow, towel had someone else's hair on it, bathroom door frame all scratched up, remote control was dirty, and some features not even work on it, wasn't able to connect to Wi-Fi the entire time there. As I missed my dog on the trip, I stopped at the front desk to ask if there were breed restrictions and the cost.... Quickly, the lady rolled her eyes ( same lady that checked me in with the attitude ) and ask what I had, followed by an attitude as to why it cost a extra$ 75 per night for a dog ( keep in mind I didn't ask why ) but she definitely lead on that. She didn't appreciate dogs being there and she said it would be cheaper to leave them at home. She stated that everything has to be taken out of the room and cleaned afterwards. Yes I expected that but the level of attitude I received was very unwelcoming. Perhaps it's time for a career change for this individual as she is leaving a negative impact on this hotel. Can we say " bad apple "? Everyone else here was very friendly. Noticed same bags of trash, set out by the residence for pick up for days. Elevators were a slushy mess in the lobby coming in pretty much the same. Wasn't able to enjoy the heated pool or hot tub due to unruly children running, screaming out of control as they were doing cannonballs....and of course, the parents were doing nothing. Parking was a train wreck as they didn't plow any of the parking lot or parking spaces, therefore it took up a lot more space because people couldn't see the lines and a lot of people had to park at the bank next-door and lug all their stuff across the snowy parking lot. OK now for what I did enjoy. Bed was comfortable and clean, rosemary, scented toiletries, hot complementary breakfast with delicious coffee. Friendly and helpful staff ( except for gray hair lady at the front desk ). Great location for walking to and from on a ski trip.

I have mixed feelings about this stay. On the one hand, the proximity to everything in…read moreEllicottville is unbeatable, and the beds were incredibly comfortable. While the breakfast was just so-so, the coffee was actually pretty good. However, a front desk agent named Tanya completely ruined what could have been a great experience. As a handler of two service animals, I was shocked by her lack of knowledge regarding the ADA. Upon check-in, she asked questions about my specific disability, forced me to sign a "pet form" (service animals are not pets), and aggressively threatened to evict me if the dogs barked--despite them being silent and well-behaved. It created a hostile environment immediately. To make matters worse, my room keys were deactivated four times in two days, and when I tried to book a second night directly through Wyndham instead of Expedia to fix a rewards issue (as Tanya suggested), she was rude, dismissive, and refused a simple upgrade or late checkout even though the hotel was visibly empty. The physical hotel is nice, but until they train their staff on federal law and basic hospitality, I can't recommend staying here if you want to feel welcome.

Holiday Valley - Highest trail is 2200 feet above base

Holiday Valley is the best "local" ski resort (in my case local means a 3 hour drive each way). I…read moream willing to make the drive since Holiday Valley provides a great ski day. The resort has 750 feet of vertical, but it skies much bigger than that, the large variety of slopes and challenges provides a rich experience. Parking at Holiday Valley is free, but on a busy day you may have a bit of a walk, especially if you are heading to the Main Lodge, but you can park at one of the other 2 base lodges, they are smaller but still very nice. My biggest complaint at the Main Lodge is that you will encounter a couple of sets of stairs to get to the slopes. Inside the lodge there are plenty of seating, bathrooms, rentals, ski shops and the usual ski lodge food. The Tannenbaum Lodge does provide a couple of rooms where you can leave your bags and bring your own food, which is very convenient. From the Main Lodge you have 2 primary lift choices, Cindy's Quad and the Mardi Gras Express; both keep the lines moving at a good pace and allow you access to the rest of the resort. The lift system overall works well to keep you moving and the lines at a reasonable level. This year Holiday Valley has gone to a RFID lift ticket which was a bit challenging to find the right location for the card to consistently activate the gates, once I figured it out it was pretty smooth. Holiday Valley offers plenty of challenge and with its location in the lake effect snow belt it usually gets great snow coverage. On my recent day trip I found the skiing better than my earlier trip to Lake open runs like Mardi Gras to rollicking narrower trails through the woods. The Black trails are always welcome with Champagne, Yodeler and Edelweiss usually worth multiple runs. Typically, 1 or 2 of these will have one side groomed and the other side moguls. There are plenty of glade tree skiing runs and a couple of terrain parks off of the Morningstar Express Lift. They even have a Double Black Diamond run, although it was not open this trip. For my most recent visit I took advantage of the Cabin Fever Days promotion to get a $25 lift ticket at selected ski shops; plenty of other people also took advantage of the promotion so it was busy for a Tuesday. Conditions were great, almost the whole resort was open. After a nice morning of skiing the Blue and Black runs, I did feel so good that I skied some of the moguls and took a few runs through the Happy Glades which is the first time I have been tree skiing in several years. I also did take a short midday stop at the Tannenbaum Lodge for a quick warm up. Holiday Valley consistently receives high marks as one of the best resorts in the East, it also gets more skier visits than any other resort in New York. I have been skiing Holiday Valley for more than three decades and I always have a great time. The drive there and back can be challenging at times, but that just means the resort is getting plenty of snow. If you are looking for a great day of skiing Holiday Valley should be on your list. In addition, the town of Ellicottville is a charming ski town and Salamanca offers a full-service Casino and resort.

WOW this ski resort blew me away, as it has everything you will need to enjoy your skiing…read moreexperience. They have tons of ski equipment/snowboarding, a large cafeteria on the second floor, daycare service, and a cool little bar. I'm still taking back at how nice all the skiers were. Basically everyone welcoming you to sit at their table while eating, and helping when they see you're in distress. I'd like to call that unity. You could see large groups of friends, couples, families with small children and solo skiers all having the time of their life. I was impressed that you could safely leave your skis outside on the rack and no one bothered them. That doesn't happen in Columbus, Ohio. lol This lodge is something you would see out of a magazine as it is magnificent in every way. My favorite was the large, second floor outside patio area with comfy chairs to sit and rest in between racing down the slopes. Just a place to kick back and catch your breath, and it's right off of the bar area, how convenient is that? On the first level, there is a huge locker room area with digital lockers, where you'll see everyone either bundling up or stripping down. In the cafeteria on the second floor, like I mentioned before has a huge array of delicious items to refuel your system. As you walk in the dining area, you will see a huge room with wraparound windows and I could not even tell you how many tables and chairs, and an enormous fireplace....which was a bit too warm for my liking, but I just took off a few layers and I was fine. On the first floor adjacent to the bottom of the slope, you will find a very toasty warm Starbucks offering not only their signature coffees and snacks, but also a wall of alcohol, alcoholic beverages, along with whiskey. Guess you gotta stay warm somehow. They also have a large glass ice water tower for those that want to pop in and get a quick hydrate before heading back out. And the slopes... unbelievable!!!! You literally have so much to choose from. And they are all meticulously cared for. Lastly, they have ski lessons on hand for the beginners. Overall, I was impressed and look forward to my next visit . Thank you holiday Valley!!!!

It is Rundown, dirty and the room smells of wet dog and smoke masked with air freshener. The employee said she could t change my room without charging me more (which was ok) however she couldn't guarantee the room was any better therefore I would be struck paying for it! What???? I asked her to send maintenance with me to open door to take a smell and she said he was gone for the night. Ohhh great she is the only staff member on property?!? Half of the hotel apparently flooded by a pipe burst months ago and it's still not renovated. The pool is closed and the restaurant/bar area. I can only imagine the horror show that it too. Oh and there is a little L Cove that supposedly sell snacks ... it only has potato chips (3 kinds) that you can purchase for a $1.00. This place is wayyyyy Overpriced and unfortunately the Casino is booked and there is nowhere else to go. Please do not stay here unless you are desperate I do not recommend at all and I am shocked of the lack of care and safety.

But a comfortable, clean, and great sleep. The breakfast situation was a little eccentric- we didn't utilize it (grab and go frozen breakfast to heat in a microwave yourself). The Lodge is located near the casino. I was surprised to learn that the same evening- the guest rooms at the casino were $4 cheaper.
