40th Birthday at Strand Brewery.
Ryan T.

I planned a birthday party for my wife's 40th birthday and I wanted it to be amazing. Dave and Kendra did a great job. Despite our best efforts to screw it up by getting a late start, Kendra pulled us all together and set the wheels in motion for a great day. Everyone and everything was amazing. Just trust Mystery to do their job and you will not be disappointed. Here is what my wife had to say. Holy cow I had the most wonderful birthday!!! I am in awe with my life mate, you planned the most epic surprise celebration! I am blessed to have the best friends and cousins anyone could ask for. Girls, my cake was beautiful and just what I would have imagined. Thank you for everyone who took the time to wish me a happy birthday, I appreciate every single one of you. Thank you to Kendra and our driver from Mystery Trip LA you were amazing, you executed a crazy and ridiculous fun itinerary. Overall so so grateful with life for allowing me to reach my 40s in such a fabulous way.

I was instantly intrigued by Mystery Trip when my co-worker, Taylor G., suggested it as an option. Mysterious Dave got back to me immediately after I inquired through his website and we had a chat discussing what my needs would be, which was a holiday team outing for a group of 16 people in Orange County. I chose a 4 hour trip (the minimum time) and went through 1 revision to the itinerary so our outing consisted of 2 events and a dinner. My co-host and I were fully aware of the locations but the rest of our team was not so it was fun hearing their reactions and guesses on what we would be doing. In addition to transporting us from location to location, Mysterious Dave organized mini games on the bus to help us get to know each other as well as trading random gifts. I highly recommend Mystery Trip if you have a large group of people to accommodate. We even had several people with dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan etc) and they were easily met. Thanks, Dave!

This is seriously hands down the best experience, event and memory to make with friends, co-workers, family or strangers! I have taken 2 Mystery Trips one for a 40th birthday party and another for a team bonding event. Both trips were AMAZING! Scavenger hunting, escape room, art gallery, barcade, fun places to explore in LA that one would never venture to on own. Dave is super fun, organized and easy to work with. I gave him a few pointers on who my team/company was and he came back with a fantastic itinerary that would work for everyone and their particular personalities. I tell all my friends about how much fun was had on these trips. I look forward to getting to go on another one soon! Do yourself a favor and reach out to Dave to make your party planning a breeze!

The party bus!

I first learned of Mystery Trip through a Google search for ideas for my wife's 40th birthday party. She didn't want to plan a whole dinner party thing since it was supposed to be FOR HER, and frankly I am no good at things like that, so I needed help...desperately. After reading some local newspaper and magazine articles about the company, including the reviews on Yelp, I contacted Mysterious Dave only to learn that the day I wanted to have a private trip was already scheduled for a public trip. After talking to him about it, he assured me that even though it wouldn't be just us, we would still have fun - just in a larger group setting with a bunch of people we didn't know...yet. So I signed up my wife and I along with six other couples. There were some scheduling issues and Dave was in constant contact with me before the event. He could not have been more upfront about everything along the way. There were also some scheduling issues with one of the couples that I had invited, and he was very accommodating. He knew I was on the hook for providing my wife with a memorable evening and boy did he come through. I heard from a couple of people I had invited that initially they were skeptical and not sure they would be into this type of thing - not knowing what we were doing or where we were going? I must be out of my mind to trust a stranger with a night like this. Didn't I want it to be all about my wife? Almost immediately they changed their tune. The first activity got everybody into the spirit of the Trip. By dinner, they were telling me how much fun they were having and this was such an awesome idea to do for my wife's party. The activities, food, BYOB on the bus, everything was incredible. Dave was fantastic. He had everything timed down perfectly. He knew exactly when to get the group on the bus so that we made it to the next place at the exact right time. Did I mention there was another Mysterious Person? Kendra was there to help "herd the cats" and she took photos. She was incredibly well-liked and joined in the fun with us. She was awesome. Dave told us that night that this was the largest public trip he had ever put together, and it didn't matter that there were people we didn't "know." Everyone was friendly and got along. We were sharing snacks on the bus, and sharing stories of the things we had seen throughout the night. The final activity for the night ended near where we started. Looking back, there is no way I would have ever planned to do what we did at the end if I was in charge of planning my wife's party. And yet, it was so ridiculously awesome everyone was having a great time. I can't remember the last time I laughed and enjoyed a night out with my friends as much as we did this night. Mystery Trip is THE BEST TIME. For all of you who are control freaks and planners and need to know every detail of what you're going to be doing, you just need to throw caution to the wind and trust Mysterious Dave. He's the best. Book your Trip now, you won't be disappointed.

The best time on the Mystery Trip for my 40th birthday!

I came to the party late but managed to get the party late but managed to finish my piece in the remainder 2 hours after going through the tutorial. Lily and Laura (or Lore? I apologize but I may have heard her name wrong) were THEEE best instructors. I managed to pick up the lesson pretty well but they were great at assisting, answering questions, checking our work and giving advice, and finishing our 10 pieces so we all didn't have to come back to pick it up. I had sooooo much fun and the feeling of joy is indescribable with bringing my mini rug home. There are so many crafts available that it is making me want to come back to try them all. Tutu Fun is a great way to try all the crafts, relax, get creative without breaking the bank in getting new supplies preemptively.

In fact, I bought extra paint just to make sure there was enough paint. We got there, checked in, and were walked into our room. We picked up the bottles and they were just filled with water, so I stepped out and asked the staff if this is how it's supposed to be. Their response? "Sorry, we're out of paint. We need to conserve." No, what you need to do is buy more paint. How are you out of paint? It's a paint room. And why are you charging me for bottles of water? Whatever. He said he could bring us a palette with paint. He came back 5 minutes later and brought a palette with 5 drops of paint. This paint experience turned into a (limited) color me mine experience - which would have been great if we were at a color me mine and could take something home. But we weren't. Also, color me mine doesn't run out of paint. We asked if they could at least reset the timer for the 5 minutes that it took them to bring out the paint palette. "No, we can't do that." Which ended up being fine, since we had no paint. Anyways - go if you're in the mood for an expensive water fight.
