So I don't know what is wrong. Maybe it is possessed. However, it's clearly out of the screen from the throw distance. Neither one has changed the screen or the location of the projector. The projector has not been bumped hit uninstalled and reinstalled. It just jumps off the screen. Our builder used MyHomedia for all the prewiring for our new home and I wish I looked elsewhere when it came to making our home "smart." Needless to say, working with them was the biggest mistake of my entire home building process and the worst decision I've ever made in my life. If I could go back in time, I would've had them prewire my home for Ethernet, then shut the door. Michael was our go-to guy and working with him was horrible. He doesn't listen, doesn't focus on your needs, won't ever ask about your budget (you pay out of pocket in full, SURPRISE!), won't involve you in the purchasing process until there's an invoice, will only tell you what you do/don't want without any explanation, and he'll push Control4 on you as if that's the only option. We made it very clear from the start that we're hands-on people, want some level of control over our setup, and had specific requirements that we want met. We unfortunately trusted him to provide the best solution for a setup they said would be super simple: 5.1 surround in the family room, 2 speakers in the bathroom, internet, security cameras/system, and 1 app that controls it all. I should've seen all the red flags, but the stress of building a home and all the hustle involved really clouded my judgement. Let me start by saying if you want a bunch of unprofessional frat boys in your home, go with MHM. The pandemic was in full force, yet I had to constantly ask the guys to wear a mask in my home during the 3 day installation. Not only that, Brian (the lead) had the hardest time configuring everything and had to consult Rob (allegedly the best in the region) the whole time and still, our setup was complete shit. On top of that, we purchased a brand new Samsung TV in preparation for the installation, but Samsung and something in the setup wouldn't cooperate with each other so a majority of the time, our sound and TV wouldn't work. A majority of the issues we ended up having had to do with compatibility. Mind you, we were building from the ground up and MHM was aware of our build from the start. We could've easily made everything compatible but none of this was discussed nor mentioned to us until it was too late. After day 1 of the installation, we noticed a lot of buggy behavior with our setup. They came out on day 2 and basically put a bandaid on everything. Then a few days later, same thing: nothing worked. We spent weeks troubleshooting (partly because it was Christmas and New Years so we were on our own) only to discover nothing met our expectations. The thing that really irked us was that we had specific requirements and discussed them multiple times and in detail to Michael (i.e. cameras with audio). He said he could deliver on all of those things and yet, when installation day came and we asked the crew, "how do we turn on the audio for the cameras?" they laughed and said, "take that up with Michael, your cameras don't come with audio." The phase "you'll need to ask Michael" was said nonstop for 3 days. It was frustrating to say the least. Nearly a month later, we had enough and met with Michael to discuss a resolution. He decided to "show himself out" of our home and was obviously pissed that we weren't happy. Our complaint went up the chain to Jonathan who apologized for Michael and his team's behavior and after some back and forth, offered a resolution that we both deemed fair. I'lol give them 2 stars for the things we DID keep: internet, cameras, and sound system. After getting rid of their stuff and C4, everything now works very well. I think MHM's flaw is that they bank on people wanting a set-it-and-forget-it system, but folks these days are more DIY so they should consider that. When you drop 5 figures on a setup, you expect the best, but all we got was a mega headache and a lot of regrets. We could've (and have, in some respects) gotten a better outcome with Ring, which is a fraction of the cost. MHM really needs to invest in listening more actively and collaborating on an appropriate setup with their customers. Oh, and stop pushing C4 because if you look that thing up online, everyone and their mother says it's archaic and the worst controller out there. read more

I actually worked with their office in Allen, which did not come up in Yelp. We built a new home in Lucas and I worked with Jonathan Clarke, one of the owners. He came out to the home while in the construction stages and then made a proposal. I had been shopping for home entertainment solutions, so I was pretty familiar with products and prices. Jonathan presented a very detailed proposal for my projection system in my media room. Unlike other people in this business, he encouraged me to utilize some of the components I already owned from my previous system. He did not try to sell me on replacing everything. Yesterday a crew of three very professional technicians came to the house and installed the projection system and two wall mounted flat screen TVs. They were neat, clean and did a wonderful job. I dealt with the Allen location off of Stacy Rd. Honestly I started entering their location to get an idea of what I wanted to do with my dormant media room (well - oversized storage area if how it was being used to be honest.) When I was offered a free walkthrough I accepted thinking I would probably use these folks to mount a proper screen (as I've read stories on how this can be completely messed up for do-it-yourselfers.) The visit to the store was a good one. By the time I was done speaking with Jonathan, I felt very confident that a) I could see myself working with them for the entire setup and b) that he knew the quality of speakers I had and would incorporate them into my setup. He also knew I was set on a certain receiver that they do carry, but prefer some other lines. He understood and didn't try to flip me from what I had already researched. In the end I got a great deal - everything is 100% setup and running perfectly, and dealing with three different people (Jonathan, Ian, and Steve) was extremely easy. The installers were great and even modified a few minor touches here and there to maximize my setup. All of them have bore fruit.. I would recommend these folks to anyone. They are low-pressure, highly schooled in this industry, very competitive on pricing, and most of all make use of what you have in your setup to make sure you can keep previously invested hardware in the mix (if it makes sense - I don't recommend you try and use a 1990's receiver and speakers you stored in the attic to save money.) read more

Date: August 21, 2017 To: Myhomemedia & any of their potential customers Subject: Recognition to an Outstanding Organization We purchased services and equipment for our new home in April 2015 from myhomemedia (Jonathan Clarke, one of the owners). They were to prewire the house for 2 media rooms (one being a 120" projector with 7 of their speakers and two subwoofers) along with installing another media room, mounting 3 more flat screen TVs and installing security system with cameras. Came to work with Ian Chapman the other half of the ownership and one of their key employees Steve Clark during installation and final setup of all the equipment. They were extremely knowledgeable and professional. They met all cost and schedule requirements, and were easy to work with. After the installation we experienced some trouble with two of the receivers (Onyko) within approximately 8 months of purchase. Jonathan and Steve were able to get them repaired at an Onyko service center (both had lost HDMI video outputs). This month one of the same receivers lost HDMI video out again (Onyko reliability leaves a lot to be desired). Contacted the service center and Onyko neither would do the repair under warranty because the pre-wire was done in spring of 2015 and their warranty is for two years. The equipment was not delivered to me and installed until November 2015 which should have still been under warranty. Onyko will not stand behind their product reliability or warranty. HOWEVER myhomemedia at their cost replaced the receiver with a better Pioneer unit. This company and individuals are great to work with and I highly recommend them for any service, installation, equipment purchase that you might be considering.
