I was not disappointed with their service and their ability to get my appointment scheduled within just 2 weeks. The front desk was nice and everyone was very helpful. Dr. Jolley was quick, knowledgeable and friendly getting my prescription and answering any questions I had. Personally I do wish they had more options in stock for their frames but they offer to provide your prescription and PD up front so you can go to a third party. That really shows character within their practice.

In 2024, I called for a new appt with Dr. Murphy but was told by the General Manager, Robbie Holland, that I now owed an additional $95 because I failed to purchase contact lenses through Salisbury Optical in the months AFTER my appointment. Extremely surprised and disappointed that months later, Salisbury Optical general manager would attempt to increase the amount owed for their services.

Dr. Nguyen and all the staff at Sussex Eye Center are wonderful. They're personable and efficient…read morewithout being brusque. They find just the right balance of being friendly and getting the job done quickly to keep appointments on time. Even when I arrive early for appointments, I rarely wait more than a couple of minutes. Once when I was there, the power went out due to a thunderstorm, and the technician, doctor, and receptionist all apologized to me for the appointment taking so long, as if they were at fault for the testing equipment not working without electricity. They value my time. One thing I really appreciate is that every time I have to use one of the testing machines, the technician always reviews the purpose and procedure of the test, in case I don't remember everything since last year. I appreciate that insight into how anxious a patient may feel in a dark room with an intimidating piece of high-tech evaluation equipment. I also like the way the doctor gives me the results immediately instead of sending them to me later when there's no one to explain or answer questions. Another thing I really like is something they don't do. I don't wear glasses, even though glasses might help a little bit in some circumstance (e.g., night driving, which I almost never do). Since I'm not having any problems, no one makes me feel pressured to buy glasses that I'd probably never wear. I feel as though I'm dealing with health professionals, not sales reps working on commission. I don't want to feel like I took the car in for an oil change, and now I'm being coerced into getting a brake job. If Dr. Nguyen ever does tell me that I need glasses, I'll get them feeling confident that it's a medical decision, not an up-sell. Bottom-line, although I live closer to both Salisbury and Seaford, I'll continue to drive to Georgetown to Sussex Eye Center because I trust Dr. Nguyen and the staff with my vision and overall eye health.

What was supposed to take 3-4 weeks took over 9 weeks with over a 1/2 dozen excuses over that period of extra time, & although I was offered a free pair of glasses as compensation, which I accepted, & specified a certain type of lens (basic sunglasses, not prescription) & picked out a frame that fit well, what I got was a damaged demo/display frame & a cheap imitation substitute brand lens. Their excuse was, the sunglasses were complimentary... & now I have to spend yet another ~3 hours driving to & from to try to get that fixed, with no guarantees. If I had only known... next time, I'm going elsewhere to a (more) reputable & competent facility!
