My mother has been a patient of Dr. Garrett for almost five years and has consistently returned annually for her eye exams. She has trusted his recommendations and recently purchased glasses based on his professional guidance. Unfortunately, her experience today was extremely disappointing. After waiting nearly two hours to be seen, the only response she received regarding her concerns was, "Unfortunately, we don't live in a perfect world. Sorry for wasting your time," and he walked away. That level of dismissal is unacceptable in any customer service setting -- especially in healthcare. Patients come in not just paying for a product, but trusting medical expertise and compassion. When someone spends hundreds of dollars on glasses and then struggles with blurred vision for weeks while trying to "give it time," they deserve to be heard -- not brushed off. No one expects perfection. But professionalism, empathy, and accountability should always be part of the standard of care. Avoid them. You don't even get a physical doctor. Here is the entire experience: Went in to get my eye looked at because I had a black object floating in my iris. They had me wait for an hour and a half beyond my appointment time before calling me into the back room. I go to the back room. Guess what? An optometrist doesn't actually see you in person. They see you over video chat. Which it took another 30min+ to get seen and then they were having connection issues. 30minutes while a 20sec video plays loudly on repeat while you wait for the eye doctor to connect. I didn't get any actual help with the object in my eye but they sure did get the contact lens exam that I wasn't even there for and didn't schedule. Because of not being able to be seen in person, we had to send that doctor a video of my eye for me to get referred to a physical doctor in Duke. I didn't get out of there until over 2hrs after I entered the building. Then guess what? I had an appointment to pick up my contacts on the 5th but I broke my toe and missed it. I try to reschedule and the people that had me in their office for over 2hrs, without any actual help, had the audacity to reprimand me about my "no show". Well guess what? I didn't even want contact lenses and you guys wasted over 2hrs of my time. Respect goes both ways. My contacts are ready for pickup right now but they won't let me pick them up. They said I have to see one of their doctors in order to do so. I know it's because they just want to charge me a consultation. I've had contacts before, I know how to use them, I am leaving the country in 3 days, they won't even let me get them. Waste of my time. read more

Dr. Stephen Garrett is top optometrist. I can see better with my new contacts than I've seen in years. He continued to work with me until my vision was clear and the contacts were comfortable. It took several visits but he wanted total satisfaction. I am thankful for each beautiful, clear day! I see like a teenager and I'm a senior. He was friendly and courteous as was his staff. I strongly recommend him. Do not be in a hurry as it takes time for this kind of perfection. read more

On today, March 7, 2023, I transported a Black friend to Myeyedr's office at 1000 N. Madison Blvd in Roxboro, NC to see Dr. Stephen Garrett. Her appointment was 1:20pm so we arrived at 1:10pm and checked in. She sat there until 1:35pm before being called back. She was in a room waiting for a doctor for 1 1/2 hours before I complained and then she was seen. During that time 2 Caucasians women came in was seen and left before my friend was ever seen. We left this office at 3:25pm. I wonder was this a racial situation, that's what I think. So, to all minority folk please pay attention to see how you are treated and how long you are waiting when you go to Dr. Stephen Garret's office. Dossie H. read more

Staff are nice folks and happy to help out, but don't expect to get in & out in any reasonable amount of time. The appointments have been suggestions of approximate timing and any hope you your time being as valuable as the Dr's is off the table. In summary, allow at least a 2 hour window of time beyond your scheduled appointment. read more

Went to this optometrist since it was covered on my insurance plan - what a surprise, the staff is so friendly and helpful , the optometrist was friendly , efficient , and thorough . The office staf was very polite but the Dr is the ONLY physician and is always 1hour behind. Do not make plans until your appointment is completed bc you will be in their offices for 2+hours. Arrived 10 minutes early to ensure paperwork for my first visit was accomplished. Waited 33 minutes after my appointment time to get called in for the'pre-exam, then was escorted into the eye exam room 39 minutes after my appointment time. I again waited 21 minutes for the doctor to come, he was a 'no show', so I decided to leave. A total of 1 hour AFTER my appointment time. I won't be going back. read more

I searched My insurance providers website to search local Optometrists & Opticians and to my surprise MyEyeDr. came up. Got MY eye exam and purchased some glasses with no problems. read more

My experience with ordering my glasses after my exam was great. I was told two weeks and arrived a little over that. When I picked up my glasses the tinting (for sun) was not done by the lens maker. No fault of My Eye Dr. However when my glasses were returned the lady put the lenses in the frame. I went back 4 times for it to be adjusted because the left side kept bending and was very loose. I asked for a new frame because it wasn't right. She ordered it. It came. On Thursday the glass fell out of the frame. I looked at the frame and found that the screw had been tightened too tight and was rung out. I went back today with my old frame/glasses that I have had for 12 years. Never had a problem. She said this would count as my one replacement/insurance for the year. I told her it wasn't my fault about the frames it was hers. I only had them for three weeks. However, before I left she stated it would count against my insurance. We will see. However I have been a patient there for over 20+ years. I love my eye dr but I will never ever order any glasses from these people who don't believe in customer service and pleasing the customer. They could also use training of smiling and welcoming you when you walk in and after. If they hate their job find something else to do because you sure aren't doing it here.
