On this day of Tues., 19 Jan., 2021, I took the RRTA #2 bus from the Queen St. Station to my…read more12:30PM appt., at The Family Eye Group, which is located at the Health Campus, here on Harrisburg Pike. So, this was my experience: I arrived at the office approx. 10 min. early. So, I approached the counter, and just as I was getting my paperwork together, the secretary said: 'NAME!' A few seconds later she yelled it out again, and I told her: "I HEARD YOU!! GIMME A CHANCE TO ANSWER HON, RELAX." (because sheh wasn't being patient with me. Give people a chance to respond, before ya keep repeating yaself.) So, after I handed her my new patient forms, she pulleduup on her computer, my insurance info, and she said: 'It looks like we do not accept your insurance. You said you have Health Wellness...?' So, I said: "Yep! And Health Partners Medicare." Her response was: 'Unfortunately, it looks like we do not accept your insurance here, unless you wanna just be seen as (pay as you go(?) I can't remember the terminology, but she was alluding to my being treated, if I wanted to be seen there as a new patient, without coverage.) So, I told her: 'Nah, nah-no. I have another Dr.'s appt. anyway, I'll just go to that one. It's fine." Now... I was plenty polite, and I left. So... I remembered after I left, that they had never called me in the month prior to my appt., that they didn't accept my insurance. So, I said to her after I returned to the window: " Ya know, nobody ever called me to tell me that my insurance wasn't accepted. And I was under the impression that it was accepted, when I made my appt., here." She said: 'It looks like somebody may have tried to reach you, but it was too little too late...' Now... here's what the whole snod damn problem is: I despise having my time wasted bg some clown Dr's. office, and getting sent on some wild goose chase, without any common courtesy or forethought to informing me that my insurance isn't accepted. And the other reason why I'm pissed off with clowns like this, is because they need to get their sh** together, as a professional outfit, and cut the bullsh. People don't all day taking houses out of their merry way to make needless doktors trips, for no reason. What sloppy customer service--and it's a show of real arrogance to March a patient with health problems l the way out of his/her merry way, FOR NO REASON!! MORONS!!!! Wake uo, and get ya sh** t'getha. Seriously. I don't appreciate being made a fool out of, just because yer too haughty to make a courtesy call, to let me know as a VALUED PATIENT, that my insurance isn't accepted--which yiz should have informed me of, WHEN I CALLED OVER A MONTH AGO!! Very bitterly disappointed, AND insulted. No good.

Prior to coming out I called to see if an appt was needed. The lady on the phone (Kim?) mentioned that she was waiting to get a call on a family emergency and didn't want to say she'd be there, me show, and they be closed. I liked that she was upfront and honest, and very sincere in her apology for the inconvenience. I was like "hey girl, things happen". A few days later I was able to pick my glasses over lunch. I'm an in and out kind of person so I knew I wanted to stick with frames covered by insurance and didn't need alot of extras. Kim waited on me and was very mindful of my time and need to get back to work. While she did try to upsell a few options, she also explained why I might want them. She also gave me a deal better than my insurance would have covered. My glasses were ordered and ready in a little over a week. An appt is needed to pick them up. When my appt came, again trying to pick up over my lunch, the girl (not Kim) was on the phone which I suspect by the conversation was a personal call. I waited, sat up, stood up, walked around, and while I was acknowledged she made no attempt to get off the phone. Finally "delivering" them to me unchecked " try these on and let me know how they feel, good, great, call if you have any problems" all the while still having her phone to her ear. That experience could have been better. Never met the doctor, liked the hours, fact they took my insurance, and thought prices and turnaround time were reasonable. It just took one bad apple at pick up to change this from a 4 to 3 star review.

Despite all that, I hope a "reader benefits" from this review: UNACCEPTABLE ...THIS IS THE SECOND TIME I have had a bad experience at this practice. My appt. with Dr. Thode was scheduled for 3:15 pm - I sat in that office for "2 hours" before I even got to see the eye doctor and most of that time was in the exam room, That is ridiculous - I saw people come in after me, get treated and leave before me. When I left the office it was near closing time and there were no other patients in the reception area. To make things worse, no apologies from anyone! I only went back to that practice because of a recommendation from my eye doctor, but never again!!! I hope Thode sees this because him and his staff need to do better.

It's an actual pleasure to go to this practice! (Except for the eye-drops and the "puff" machine)…read more I've been going annually for about 10 years now. And had both lenses replaced by Dr. Rommel 2 years ago. The nurse assistants and Dr. Rommel are not only very good at their jobs but are very personable and appear to take an actual interest in the patient's well-being throughout each visit. The advice and suggestions for my better eye health and general health (at my age of 81) that they offer are both intelligent and helpful. I cannot imagine any better eye care anywhere than I get at Manning & Rommel Associates. Note: The "review mafia" must have put this place on their "hit-list" for some reason. None of the "no stars" reviews are valid, in my opinion. Seems like some of them were meant for another practice and submitted here in error. Only one of the bad reviews names a Dr. in this practice, so that one's probably in the intended place.

I was told they "hadn't gotten a chance" to check in the shipment. While I was on the phone, the person did open the box and confirmed my glasses had arrived and I could stop by and pick them up. When I arrived, my glasses still hadn't been "checked in". They were quite pleasant when my order was taken, but the service I received after that was poor, at best. My son goes to his PCP and they give him an exam. His test wasn't 20/20 but 20/35 and 20/30. I text this office and received a text back claiming they were waiting on the dr. A worker than calls me and tells me that we were supposed to come back in after pick up of glasses but nobody told us anything. They just give out glasses before retesting you and allowing you to go home with them. I was then told I would have to repay for glasses and I told the first worker that shouldn't be right due to them not testing us and because the prescription is way off and nowhere near 20/20. She said well if your insurance covers it we'll bill them first even after they know they messed up. (Fraud practices!) She cuts me off and places Patricia on the phone. When I explain to Patricia about our experience she proceeds to tell me that I'm confused because that's not what's done when you pick up. I told her 8xs what was done at pick up time. A dot was placed on the lens and we were asked if we were good. I said we were good because the dots matched our pupil level when we picked up glasses. Patricia then goes to say "Oh so you said they were good." Then I told her stop playing condescending games with me. First you're saying that I'm lying about a marker being placed on the middle of the lens upon pick up because that wasn't supposed to happen at pick up but in the beginning when we pick out glasses. She didn't want to admit the worker was wrong by testing our glasses with a marker at pick up. We never even went back in because we weren't told to make another appointment to test glasses. We have no follow up appt in that system but instead of her to checking she continues to play games. Instead we were told we were good as long as the marker point matched our pupil. Then after I asked what are we going to do then to Patricia because I need to call home office about this issue if she was going to keep playing condescending games on the phone. She proceeds to tell me I am speaking to home office. They had us pay and wear glasses that weren't even the proper prescription since May and when my son was tested this is how they treat you as if you have time to play condescending games with their workers that play as home office. I was told I would now have to deal with the owner. Mind you the first worker said she's getting the manager on the phone. Patricia got on the phone and was allowed to play condescending games, manager and a home office employee. To the owner you owe both our insurance company money and I will be filing a grievance with the insurance company due to Patricia thinking this was ok. Their glasses come back from the lab useless for adults and children. My sons and my glasses both are totally wrong prescription. File a grievance with your insurance company! Also file BBB complaint. After reading reviews this behavior and customer service is normal practice for them them. Report them until they get it together. The shouldn't be charging any insurance company when they clearly are in the wrong. Edit: the Dr. also calls you back after you leave an honest review and accuses you of calling their rude disrespectful condescending employees bad words instead of taking accountability. He couldn't even talk he was suffering stuttering lol. He also said he's the only one that accepts AmeriHealth Insurance for children in the area and good luck on finding someone else who accepts it. THIS IS WHY THEY DELIBERATELY TREAT THEIR CUSTOMERS WITH AmeriHealth this way. But it's a lie because AmeriHealth just sent a whole list of providers in our area lol. Make sure you leave a review on the Better Business Bureau also so they can track how he expects Medicare to cover his screw ups. They delete reviews on google. Oh and after dealing with the owner the Dr Yealy yesterday afternoon I woke up to 5 fraud transactions on my credit card they now are investigating. Also, if you have AmeriHealth and they tell you that you have to pay a $40 co-pay, that's a lie! They're hustling you into a more pricey frame.
