Went in for an annual eye exam, but really because I had some issues. They go through a very in depth exam, and will sit with you and answer any and all questions you have. I had Dr. David Parker. Professional and caring. Expected a lot less, and got a lot more. Amazing assistants. All were VERY nice and smart. It was such a warming place with great people. I have found my eye doctor and won't switch to anyone else. HIGHLY RECOMMEND. Did I mention that already? While initially hesitant, my wife mentioned the interaction that she had with Dr. Wright. Well, Dr Wright put me at ease immediately because she listened and didn't doubt what I already knew about my infection. For my follow-up appointment, Huntsville and surrounding area's shut down due to snow and ice. Most of the businesses had closed. However, I received a call from Specs asking how I was doing. I told the individual that I was feeling better and was told that if I needed Dr. Wright to come in, she would. To me this outstanding especially because of the times that we live in today where money outweigh true services. I am forever grateful for Dr. Wright and the level of service that she provides. By the way I've been back in the area and had to go in for service. No changes, still great service from all of the staff that I encounter on my visit.

Dr Sullins is one of the best eye doctors I have ever visited. He is very caring and personable…read moreduring your appointment and answers any questions or concerns you may have. His staff has always been absolutely amazing, normally on time and it is very fast paced but not rushed. Check in with the front desk and either grab a seat to read a magazine or look around for new glasses. Once they call you, the appointment starts and all the eye test and check ups are done. Dr Sullins comes to discuss what plan of action we should take (I am about as blind as a bat). If I have any questions he explains the answers, and if I am trying a new lenses the explanation of the lenses material and reviews from other customers are given. Once the new prescription is given and contacts I am given the option for glasses or contracts or both, depends on your insurance and your funds. They do take VSP which is phenomenal. The staff also does not rush or pressure you to buy glasses or contacts. They let you look and take your time. I recommend all family and friends to Dr Sullins, our family has started within the past 3 years, and we will continue to be patients!

At that time, I paid my co-pay and out-of-pocket for retinal photos. I received a surprise bill on September 24, 2025, for $150 "surgery copay" for collagen plugs. In total I made 9 phone calls and one trip to the office to try and get this sorted out. I had been in communications with Monica throughout the process of trying to get the bill sorted out. Monica told me that they would write off the $150 surgery copay back on September 25, 2025. I thought the bill was sorted until I received another bill on December 30, 2025, for $100.00. I went in on January 13, 2026, to once again get this sorted out. I sat down with Monica, and she told me that it should be "fixed" now and that yes, Dr. Watson agreed to write off the surgery copay. I received the bill again via email, on February 22, 2026. I called left another message on February 24, 2026, for Monica. It is March 2, 2026, and she has yet to call me back. I don't have time to continue the back-and-forth after I was told twice that the issue was resolved. I paid the bill as of March 2, 2026, but I will not be going back.

The entire staff is friendly and helpful. I've never had a problem getting a copy of my prescription here. I'm very grateful that they are being very cautious about COVID. Patients are allowed in just in time for their appointment, you're asked to wash your hands first thing, masks are required for staff and patients, and they take care to keep everyone at a safe distance.

They didn't have my lenses available to try, which honestly is typical and no big deal, I have been wearing them for years so I know what works for me. Great experience again, but with hers she needed to come back for check of her contacts and that's when the service dropped. It should have been a quick check. I don't always do the testing but sometimes I do. Well, today I went back for it just to check on it. Dr. Kennedy interpreted the test results to me and said I had several high risk factors and wanted to prescribe a medication to prevent the development. I said I needed to think about this and asked for a summary of what she was telling me and a copy of the test results, just for my reference to think about. She got very offended and started raising her eyebrows at me, speaking in a stern tone telling me that that I should do what she was telling me because my doctor told me to. I simply wanted a chance to take a breath, research the medicine, talk to my husband, and make a decision. I'm not the type of person to decide something in the room with the doctor at the moment they say to do it. She told me she didn't have an email address associated with her practice and they would send the results to my primary care doctor at the time she was seeing me. When I told the girl at the front I didn't want to schedule a follow up (because after her reaction I definitely wanted a second opinion), because I was going to think about this and maybe ask another doctor, she immediately didn't want to help me anymore. I waited a few weeks to make sure my doctor and I got the information. After having to call, I got all my results emailed to me. Dr. Kennedy is a pushy doctor who doesn't respect patient boundaries.

Last fall I switched to Schaeffer Eye Center located in the Providence area of Huntsville. The service was fantastic and although the selection of frames is less than Lenscrafter's, Schaeffer still had a good selection to choose from. The thing that surprised me the most when I bought my glasses was the low price. Given Schaeffer's is not a nationwide franchise I expected the prices to be higher, but to my surprise they were much lower. So good service, adequate selection, and low price. Overall very good. Moving from last fall to today: I was working in the yard and a large piece of concrete hit my face and scratched my glasses. I went back to get a new pair and the lady checked my file and said the glasses were under warranty and they would order new lenses for me. What a pleasant surprise!
