What a fun experience! Our dept went here for our latest team building activity. Our dinner menu…read morewas centered around grapes from Cattani Family Farms. Our instructor was pretty awesome and made everyone feel at ease. We went over some basic knife cutting skills, making a grape and red wine reduction sauce, and searing proteins on the pan. While you don't necessarily cook the all the dishes in its entirety, you feel good about the finished product because the food was tasty. We were served four courses based on a seasonal menu. People can make reservations online for a sit down dinner. Whether you're a novice or a pro in the kitchen, this is a fun activity with friends or family.

What didn't go well?!??…read more Y'all, it was so freakin fantastic. We did the 6:00 seating and arrived at 5:50. They let us in (we were first) and sat us. You have potential at some point to share a table with others, especially if you are a 2 or 3 top party. Got waters right away. The menu (which we knew in advance during purchase) was our place setting. Food started coming out and was timed perfectly throughout the courses... took about an hour total for two of us - we did not do wine, although it looked amazing and I'm sure would pair perfectly with this food (both currently sober). I didn't get a picture of the first dish because I just wanted to enjoy everything but I loved it so much, I knew I would be doing a review. The first course had two types of mozzarella, prosciutto, pickled nectarine and a honey drizzle. Soooooooooo good. Probably our fav if we are totally honest. Second course was a salad with a grilled apricot, candied walnuts, and an oil based dressing. The peach really gave the flavor and made it a juicier like dressing. Make perfect bites with all ingredients. We both chose the duck which came on a bed of quinoa that I think had tarragon in it??? And a glaze with peaches. Again, ate a little of each with each bite and Suuuh good. I made the chef's kiss motion twice. Finally, for dessert a peach Melba.... Which is a peach that was torched to make a sugar crust, serve on vanilla bean ice cream with I think a strawberry type purée sauce with crumbs in it. *droooool** The ambiance was also wonderful. Perfectly lit, and the music was subtle and relaxing. I cannot say enough, how much we loved this!

I just went to the most beautiful celebration of life here. It has a piano up front and a podium. Maybe they have church services here also. When I was turning the big 50 my husband want to have a party for me. He wasn't finding anyplace nice and affordable to rent. We ultimately decided to cancel party because of life getting in the way. I don't know what they charge to rent the space but I told my husband this would be perfect for a party. Someone told me that schools use the space for activities but don't quote me on that. I wish I could have gotten more pics of inside. If you are looking for a venue for any kind of event. Check into Slice of Life. I will be calling for quotes 9/26/19 Yelp won't let me update my review so I will do it on my previous one. Still a five star review, would give it more if I could. Tonight I was at the Fall Fashion Show and was able to meet the owner Susan. She was so gracious and wonderful to talk to. She explained that they do classes like art, music, cooking, drama, sign language for adults and children. I am really excited about the programs they offer for my son. This space is so beautiful, you can rent the big space or a smaller one for a more intimate setting. I am sure I will throw a party at this venue at some point. I have been to two things here now and both of them were amazing. Everything about this space is wonderful even down to the bathrooms.

The girls gravitated to the culinary arts while the boys were interested in building the super fun robot options, both girls and boys were into the fun of making "slime". There was no down time for the kids as there was always something to do to keep their attention. Rigatoni and Robots was super clean (sanitary), super organized, the staff was amazing and friendly - great for all guests, young and old. Highly recommend and look forward to signing my daughter up for the monthly membership.

I think it's fair to share with all past/current members that the you've been fed false information... These issues include: * Promises that cannot be made * Workers have to ensure no projects are broken as there are no backups * Inventory leaves no space or time for errors * Inventory is almost never sufficient, so workers are frantic * The children are rushed through lessons, instead of a 45min rotation as parents are told * Most of the time, teachers are completing the projects for the student * Overall unpreparedness/unorganization on the owner's part * Literally a sweatshop * The owner displays inappropriate behavior in front of members' children * Each of her employees are NOT background checked (this, I know to be true). I can confirm that 8 of her employees were never fingerprinted, myself included * She denied her employees 10min breaks (which is required by CA law) when asked * Her payroll has failed to be paid out to her emloyees as a business owner. When 7/8 of your employees refused to work under these conditions, you have to question what/who the real problem is. * When payroll is delayed, we (the workers) are made to feel guilty about the ownerms financial issues, yet she's out on vacations and throwing the responsibilities on the employees. * When problems arise and need to call, she does not pick up the phone

I had the Philly cheesesteak; the beef was cooked perfectly and they didn't skimp on the cheese. My lunch partner had the spinach encrusted salmon with potato patty on a bed of fresh spinach. The restaurant is operated by the Bakersfield Adult School and trains students in the preparation, cooking and the serving of gourmet and banquet dinning. It is opened when the Bakersfield school district is in session. In the morning, they always have hot coffee, tea, pastries and giant cookies to buy. The pastries are all baked on site and are just as good as any Parisian bakery could offer (I know since I've eaten plenty of croissants, pastries and bread while in Paris). These are the best pastries you can get in a 200 mile radius of Bakersfield! The menu is procured by the chef every week. Sometimes the food service is slow but it's okay since it is a teaching restaurant and the foods always make up for the service. Erin the host is always so warm to you and makes you feel welcomed and special. The location isn't the best and out of the way, but you are really doing yourself a disservice if you haven't been there. I will always be there when they offer their Rack of Lamb ($15.00!) on their lunch menu. On Tuesdays they do Grab and Go Service. You can always email them ahead of time to arrange for pick up too. Go to the Bakersfield Adult School website to more information.

We started with a trip to the farmer's market, where Laurence pointed out different items and talked through the differences in different types of food (green garlic was new to me!). We later met at her home, and the cooking began. She did a good job of rotating the tasks throughout the group, and explaining the techniques as she went. We got to taste as we went, and after all the chopping was done, wine was served. The atmosphere was warm and welcoming, and the other participants were friendly and engaged, making it a fun, social experience as well. And, of course, the best part was sitting down at the end to enjoy the fruits of our labor. The dishes we prepared were full of flavor and creativity, and I walked away feeling incredibly satisfied and inspired to keep cooking. I highly recommend this class to anyone who loves food and wants to expand their culinary horizons. Poor quality ingredients, quiche pie crust being low grade store bought, which reflects everything else that was finally served. He ran out of food almost immediately. He was very unprofessional laughing and talking with others loudly in my kitchen while he was running so late with putting the food out.
