Taco salad to go. *Update - Probably the best taco salad I've eaten in a while. My tastebuds are dancing.

Not bad for students! I've had the garlic fries : nice and garlicky. Mmmmm. Today I ordered 3 rockin tacos, since it's International Taco Day & all. The flavors are pretty tasty and the accompanying salsa is yum. The prices are pretty fair and the staff are very friendly. Update: The Cafe opened for business again on Sept.8th and I couldn't be happier. There are upgrades and some changes (and more desserts!) Their salads are bomb. Fully loaded and amazing. I'm currently chowing down on a Cobb Salad that I ordered to go before they closed shop for the day and I'm so super happy. It has alllllll the fixins. I'll probably be back..like, everyday, since I work in the building.

Daily special: lasagna and salad

Here's what you need to know about Cafe 1600. It's comprised of student chefs lead and direct by their teachers. They are polite, professional & talented! The food, due to being prepared fresh daily by students in training, can vary day to day in quality and flavor. This is not a bad thing! The prices are extremely reasonable and the staff is 100% accepting of constructive feedback. They offer a To Go ordering window (which did take me and many others a few tries to understand) and seated dining where they come to your table to take your order. At the To Go window, you USED to order, then wait, then pickup, then pay. The new procedure is to order at the window, then pay at the register, THEN pickup. This is a great partnership that helps student chefs gain experience in a restaurant setting that they can then use to obtain full time employment.

Worst thing first: they didnt have a highchair for my 11 month old so eating wasn't easy. That was annoying but I wouldn't take a star away because it was a great experience over all. The staff is learning and they have it posted in a couple different places so keep in mind they are not completely experienced. My waitress did take an order ahead of mine when they came in after me so I had to stop her to get my order. Shes learning and I get it. The staff: The woman running the show is Erin and what a wonderful person she is! She was attentive, so kind and also full of information. Erin asked me how I was doing and I felt since it was a learning experience I told her about an issue with the waitress taking orders ahead of mine and also not giving me the option of chicken or beef in my taco salad ( I wanted chicken but was willing to eat whatever). I hope she didnt think I was complaining because I was just trying to help. She immediately brought us pastries on the house and checked on our food and when ready brought it over herself. My waitress was so sweet and they were all just gawking over my little girl. She ate it all up lol. The food: Amazing!!! No seriously those extra exclamations are needed. I cant express enough how delicious it was. I ordered two meals so I can taste a couple of there dishes. Taco salad was big and super flavorful. The beef was so tender it just falls apart. The dressing was light and creamy and just blended all the flavors perfectly. Way to go on that one guys! Last but not least the burger I ordered was probably the best burger I have ever eaten and I can cook. I ordered it medium and it was cooked to perfection. The flavor of the Harris Ranch Beef really shined through and it was juicy enough to satisfy but not so much that it wet the bread. The bacon, aioli, and bleu cheese really took it to a whole other level. I would have gladly paid 20 bucks for that burger. Seriously, it's that good. I paid $14.50 for those two items and a soda. Please remember they only take cash tips. I found out the hard was but I was able to pull 10 bucks off at the near by dollar general and I just ran it in. Everyone was dressed and ready for the day so dont go in looking like I did. Wearing my Uggs, leggings and a old t-shirt with no makeup lol.

Some people cook because they have to.... But doesn't mean they want to... I cook because I love to...‍

Cafe 1600 is an amazing culinary program that I enjoyed and I guarantee that once you start you're gonna wanna finish.. It's a great environment the food is great, the people are great, and the staff or what I call the instructors at Cafe 1600 are all truly amazing... ‍‍‍

What a fun experience! Our dept went here for our latest team building activity. Our dinner menu…read morewas centered around grapes from Cattani Family Farms. Our instructor was pretty awesome and made everyone feel at ease. We went over some basic knife cutting skills, making a grape and red wine reduction sauce, and searing proteins on the pan. While you don't necessarily cook the all the dishes in its entirety, you feel good about the finished product because the food was tasty. We were served four courses based on a seasonal menu. People can make reservations online for a sit down dinner. Whether you're a novice or a pro in the kitchen, this is a fun activity with friends or family.

What didn't go well?!??…read more Y'all, it was so freakin fantastic. We did the 6:00 seating and arrived at 5:50. They let us in (we were first) and sat us. You have potential at some point to share a table with others, especially if you are a 2 or 3 top party. Got waters right away. The menu (which we knew in advance during purchase) was our place setting. Food started coming out and was timed perfectly throughout the courses... took about an hour total for two of us - we did not do wine, although it looked amazing and I'm sure would pair perfectly with this food (both currently sober). I didn't get a picture of the first dish because I just wanted to enjoy everything but I loved it so much, I knew I would be doing a review. The first course had two types of mozzarella, prosciutto, pickled nectarine and a honey drizzle. Soooooooooo good. Probably our fav if we are totally honest. Second course was a salad with a grilled apricot, candied walnuts, and an oil based dressing. The peach really gave the flavor and made it a juicier like dressing. Make perfect bites with all ingredients. We both chose the duck which came on a bed of quinoa that I think had tarragon in it??? And a glaze with peaches. Again, ate a little of each with each bite and Suuuh good. I made the chef's kiss motion twice. Finally, for dessert a peach Melba.... Which is a peach that was torched to make a sugar crust, serve on vanilla bean ice cream with I think a strawberry type purée sauce with crumbs in it. *droooool** The ambiance was also wonderful. Perfectly lit, and the music was subtle and relaxing. I cannot say enough, how much we loved this!

She's very patient, thorough, and if you love Indian food (and, I imagine, even if you don't, you'll likely change your perspective a bit) you'll eat this class up :-) Don't be afraid to bring and share a couple wine bottles with her, depending on the size of your group, as well -- she seemed to appreciate it :-) We got to eat together in her backyard, which was a truly relaxing and enjoyable experience in and of itself. In short, it was a very warm and inviting few hours, not to mention tasty and educational. Many team members took home her collection of spices, which she wasn't pushy about at all, and did seem like a good deal, on top. Strong recommend, and if you're thinking about cooking classes, or even just informally cooking with your friends/team/family, in a cozy, home setting, with someone who's definitely very knowledgeable and passionate, Rashmi's cooking class is the one.

I can confirm that 8 of her employees were never fingerprinted, myself included * She denied her employees 10min breaks (which is required by CA law) when asked * Her payroll has failed to be paid out to her emloyees as a business owner. When 7/8 of your employees refused to work under these conditions, you have to question what/who the real problem is. * When payroll is delayed, we (the workers) are made to feel guilty about the ownerms financial issues, yet she's out on vacations and throwing the responsibilities on the employees. * When problems arise and need to call, she does not pick up the phone

Polga Fitness is a combination of Pole fitness and Yoga…read more I had my first experience with Polga Fitness when my friend bid on a Polga party at a silent auction and won. She invited me (a swing dancer) and a group of her ballroom dancing friends to join her. I initially said no, as I assumed that Polga Fitness was secret code for stripper pole dancing, but knowing the group that was going (very conservative) I reluctantly agreed. My pre-first impressions couldn't have been more wrong! Here was a group of married ballroom dancing females laughing and giggling and having fun as we learned a few simple spins to contemporary/hip music. This was a group of women feeling empowered in their own feminine abilities, not a group of women pandering to the tastes of leering men. I talked to the instructor, Diana, after the class and told her about some self-confidence issues I was dealing with. I am a nationally competitive swing dancer and dance instructor whose shyness around men was holding me back from reaching the next level in my competitions. Diana shared with me her vision for Polga Fitness and how she wanted to empower women, help them get physically fit, increase their strength and flexibility, increase their self-confidence, and show them how to have a lot of fun. She challenged me to try a few private lessons and see what a difference it made. I started taking private lessons (way too chicken to actually do this in a group) and was 'flipping' upside down on the pole in no time (only a couple of weeks)! I couldn't believe that I was doing it, and looking good, too! (Diana takes pictures to help us remember and celebrate our accomplishments). And the difference it made in my self-confidence was amazing. I can now look anyone directly in the eyes with no shyness whatsoever!! I have now started taking some group lessons and they are sooooo much fun! Can you imagine the adrenaline rush of hanging upside down or spinning on a 15' tall spinning pole?!? It is not at all intimidating to do our spins and tricks in a group setting, and the girls in your class quickly begin to feel like your closest friends! There's usually someone better than you to give you a feel for what you can do if you keep working at it, and someone at or below your own level so you can see where you've come from and share the journey. The group classes are kept small (no more than 5 people in each class, I believe) so you never get lost in the crowd. Diana gives everyone personal attention and encouragement. She's a perky little thing - kind of like a permanent ray of sunshine. There are classes geared more towards beginners, classes for more experienced dancers, and classes emphasizing stretching and strength building, too. Workshops are held periodically in other related fitness fields. Polga Fitness allows you to schedule private parties for you and your friends. Or you can try out the private lessons or group classes. This business is A+ and as classy as you can get! http://www.polgafitnessbasba.com/

If you are willing to try something new, you're about to be surprised by your own body. Polga offers pole fitness, fly gym, and hula hoop classes on a weekly basis, and has held women's empowerment and self defense workshops. You can easily register online each week for the classes you choose. You can vary your schedule from week to week depending on what style of workout you want. The difference I've experienced at Polga is that the classes (Pole, in particular) are not about learning a sexy pole dance routine -- it's about using the pole as a piece of fitness equipment in order to build strength, flexibility, and balance. Not to say that it doesn't make you feel sexy when you start to realize just how strong your body is becoming! It is certainly fun as well as challenging. The atmosphere I have experienced there is encouraging, positive, and accepting. I've noticed that the instructors make it a point to walk each person to the door as they leave after class and share a personal word or two. Looking back on my own personal story, I felt a bit lost after I had my son. Life was good, but the majority of my time and energy went into caring for others and my priorities didn't include myself. Don't get me wrong -- I LOVE WHAT I DO (staying home with my son)... but when I started working out at Polga Studio, it brought back a renewed sense of achievement in myself. My body isn't in shape like it used to be before I had a child. It's easy to feel frustrated and defeated when you are used to your body looking better than it does now. But fitness is a process! I'm enjoying every bead of sweat and every time my muscles burn at Polga. There are all different ages and sizes of women there working out and it has become a wonderful place for me to go 2 times a week -- I can get focused, share some laughs, learn something new, and continue to get fit.
