They really listened to me & I was very impressed. The only negative I would say is - I noticed I got charged extra $25 for remix (of color I assume). I have had my hair colored many times & I have never been charged extra for more color that is mixed by a stylist. My hair is fine & shoulder length. I could understand this charge if my hair was very long & thick but I have the opposite situation. They need to build this in the price. It's tacky if I may be honest. Two hair cuts in seven days. Second, with a different stylist, was to repair the first haircut. Hands down, the absolute worse two hair cuts I have ever received. I have had my hair cut in Chicago, Delray Beach, Europe and repeatedly in Argentina (until I retired in 2013) . Moved to the Seacoast in 2019 and was satisfied with a local stylist I found. She left the business earlier this year so I was left to find a new stylist. She had a chair at My Reis so I expected the same quality from their other stylists. CREDIT CARD SCAM I made an appointment for services to be performed at My Reis Salon and I had to re-schedule. All of their scheduling and service selection is DONE ONLINE--NO HUMAN INTERACTION AT ALL--EVERYTHING IS PERFORMED ONLINE. They ignored my re-schedule request (online, of course) and then charged my credit card for the price of the service (over $300.00). I tried in vain to speak to a human being but to no avail. This place is nothing but a credit card scam. I'm reporting them to the NH Consumer Affairs Division and the BBB. Maybe one of them can speak to a human. NOT what she asked for! then Tyler charger her card for a bottle of shampoo without asking if she wanted it! so he charged her card $300 for orange hair that was meant to be mostly brown. If it was possible for me to give zero stars I would. I used the online booking to schedule an appointment with Kendra. After looking up several of the staffs Instagram pages, I decided to book with Kendra because I was impressed by the photos of her work and she was a self proclaimed specialist in "blondes" according to her bio. I am now questioning whether or not she even did the color transformations shown on her page herself... When I arrived, I told Kendra that the last time I got my hair done, the girl gave me all over color all the way to my roots, resulting in a harsh regrowth line that I wanted to break up with a balayage, and that I wanted to avoid having that happen again. I'm also leaving for Hawaii in a week and I wanted to freshen up my hair and get a "brighter blonde" for my vacation. I showed her a picture that SHE POSTED from her Instagram page for reference- a bright cool toned blonde. She recommended that I get some "low lights" to help blend in my roots so I said "sure" since I've gotten low lights before and since we're heading into fall, some more depth might be nice. I told her "as long as I'm a bright blonde and this harsh line is gone, that's all I care about". When she started working, I was getting nervous at how dark it was looking but she told me not to worry and ya not actually going to turn out as dark as it looks while it's processing. I've been blonde my entire life and I've never had my hair look this dark, even when wet but I trusted her. I could tell that something had gone wrong when we were at the sink because Kendra kept saying to me "now it's going to look really dark but don't worry, it'll look better once it's dry" and then she started telling me that I would look good as a brunette and that I should consider going darker because it "made my eyes pop". This is when I really started to worry but she had already completed my color so I decided to see how it turned out dry. Sure enough... I was COMPLETELY brown with random chunky bleached pieces in the most random places. I immediately panicked and told her that I'm not even blonde anymore. I have no idea how we got from the picture I showed her OF HER OWN WORK to looking like the bride of Frankenstein. My beautiful blonde dimension that I already had at the ends of my hair was completely gone and ruined by this all over brown color. I immediately told Kendra that I'm extremely unhappy and that I lost all my blonde dimension and she had the nerve to tell me that I had no dimension in my hair and she added the "low lights" to my hair to add dimension. I've had low lights before and this was an all over, one-note brown color with random bleached parts. Not to mention my hair felt like straw... After arguing with me about "what I asked for", Kendra told me that she could add more blonde and it was an "easy fix". It looked like I was wearing a Halloween wig so of course I opted to have her fix it. I watched in horror as she haphazardly threw bleach all over my already over-processed ends. I noticed as she worked that I STILL had a harsh line that looked even worse that the one I came in with and she proceeded to tell me that "all balayages will give a harsh line. Hers did when she had one and her boss was the one who did it." I couldn't believe she said this as the whole point of having a balayage is that it's blended and hides regrowth lines better than all over color. 5 hours after my appointment started and about 2 hours of holding back tears and I'm left with a splotchy, half brown/ half over bleached blonde and a scalp that feels like it's been scorched from having so many chemicals on my head. I had very healthy hair before and now I feel like I need to cut at least a few inches off to salvage it. Again I told her I'm unhappy and pointed out the entire back of my hair that literally looks pixilated due to a splotchy bleach job over the brown mess up. Kendra told me that the one spot I'm seeing is due to the toner and would wash out with shampoo and offered to wash my hair again but I just wanted to get out of there so I could go cry. It literally felt like we were looking at two different heads of hair and not once did she apologize for how she completely ruined my hair. The only positive thing Kendra did was not charge me for the service because it was THAT BAD. I'm 100% going to have to get a color correction which will be twice as expensive and cause additional damage, not to mention I'm scrambling to figure out how I can salvage my hair before I leave on vacation. I will never return to this salon and I cannot explain enough how upset I am about this situation. read more

I've been going to my reis for a few years now. And really only had the same stylist once or twice. And i enjoy the atmosphere and the people there but I'm not sure if this recent time last week they started using new products or what but i can't even get a brush through my hair. I bought multiple products from the salon and used them every time i shower/style my hair and my hair is falling out in chunks due to breakage and gnarls, even after getting more than an inch chopped off. On top of that my hair is a purple/red and i just wanted to be a brunette. Im overall disappointed in the cut, color, products and the overall experience. Had my hair colored by Nicole the owner, long story short, did not receive remotely close to the color I wanted. More importantly I paid $235 bucks cash to have my hair burnt, not properly colored! She started at the root with bleach. She was suppose to start at shaft! Which resulted in a burnt hairline where I lost all my hair! All while she was putting this stuff in my hair she informed me she was better at cutting not color!!! I have had to go to a master colorist in Mass and have my hair corrected after a second time with Nicole when I complained about it. I wanted a full refund for this disaster on my head.. no response! I have been extremely embarrassed, depressed about this life altering situation. Most recently I saw Katie and got a Balayage. I never knew my hair could look so good! My cut and dye came out even better than expected. I showed the hairdresser my reference image and I told her to cut my hair like it. She asked for the reference a few times but managed to screw it up. She made me look like a mushroom. She didn't even clean the hair off my neck and face and now I fee like an itchy rat. It was $60 dollars for this rubbish and I could've gone to Great Clips for 1/3 of the price with a better cut. Why is she level 2 when she can't even cut it the way I wanted? Before you say that I didn't explain what I wanted, the reason why I didn't elaborate was because everything I wanted was in the reference photo. I trusted the process because she was a level 2. She said my hair was thicker than the girl in the reference image so she thinned it out but the hair (fringe) in the front of my head is disproportional to the back. Meaning, that she cut too much off the back, very unlike my reference image. If she couldn't do it properly, she should've told me. I have been seeing Amanda R. At My Reis for almost 4 years now and I don't know what I'd do without her! She always gets what u want for color and cut and listens. She's honest if she thinks something won't work the way I am imaging it also. I never feel as if they are trying to push high end products on me each appointment as well which has happened at some salons in the past. I feel lucky I get compliments on my hair quite often and always recommend Amanda and My Reis. I had a horrible experience here after I was willing to try again with the elite stylist. My hair has horrible chunky highlights that weren't blended and the stylist attempted to fix it twice, without it looking any better. When contacted by customer service I provided a response as to why I was unhappy and got the response of "Got it! Thank you for your feedback." No phone call, no email, no understanding. I had to spend $600 to get my hair color corrected and will need to go back to have it worked on again in a month. Do not go here and save your money for a better salon. read more

I tried really hard to get in touch with the owner (Nicole) of this salon to avoid having to write a negative review. I spoke to Nieve the office manager who stated she would have Nicole return my call (several times)to discuss my disappointment with my recent visit. She did not. I've just recently started going to Tyler who is an "elite stylist" I'm not sure I would rate him as being an elite stylist , However the staff at Myreis has such a huge turnover they lost many of their true elite people so I question their rating system. My issue was not with my hair. I received a root color and full foil. The color was ok. Not quite what I wanted. But pretty close. My issue lies with being charged for 2 glosses at $30 each. AND 2 hair bond treatments at $25 each. Neither service was authorized by me. That's an extra $110 onto my already $228 dollar tab! Tyler and I discussed a hair cut and decided to wait until next time. He cut approximately 4 snips on the back to "even it out". I was charged an additional $65. I called to discuss with Tyler the next day instead of speaking with me directly he had the office manager call and explain that "it was their policy". She was snotty and condescending. Needless to say this long time customer will not be returning. Time to give the Wingate salon a try! read more

I wish my experience was as good as these other posts. It's been 2 weeks and I'm still struggling to look in mirror. Was told to call if I was not happy and could go back in. (I could not tell immediately as hair was wet.) The next day I realized just how unhappy I was and I could not style. No availability without me having to miss more work, to see if stylist could improve cut. ( missed2hours for first cut). Was told stylist would call me to discuss time to be worked out. She never did, another girl called back 4 days later and again offered me times during work. I'm giving 3 because my color is very nice. My cut looks like it's not finished. Does not look layered, and definitely not well blended at all. Hair is very thick. And yes I had an "elite" stylist. Total was over $200. Most I've ever paid. I left the salon so happy and energized and she literally made me feel like I got my life back together with a haircut ! Having a nice styled hair cut makes all the difference. Update: So after my review I was contacted by the owner Nicole and she suggested that I try another stylist (free of charge even!) I thought this was great business; it's clear that the owner cares about what people think of her salon and will go the extra mile for her customers. Although I didn't take her up on the free appointment, I did take her suggestion of seeing a different stylist and went back last night. I was REALLY impressed with the salon this time. I felt like the staff were a lot more friendly (including the woman at the front desk....great vibes from her). My stylist, Austin, was amazing. She made me feel super comfortable and I loved chatting with her. She even gave me a massage! I am very pleased with my haircut (prices with her were very reasonable) and I will definitely go back and see her again. read more

I basically picked My Reis Salon out of a hat; I read a review mentioning Austin and how amazing she was, so I booked a appt w/her ASAP. She WAS amazing! I'm a crier; I've started crying being in a salon chair before even leaving. I'm absolutely paranoid of letting someone touch my hair. I've had the worst experiences I'm still traumatized, but Austin pushed those fears aside. She took her time, told me everything she was about to do before doing it and really knew her stuff!!!! Not only was she EXCELLENT with hair (I got a massive color change and a long time needed cut) but she's so nice :) Easy to talk to, super friendly and genuinely enjoys her profession. It was super easy to book, I did it on their website. The salon was super clean and really nice. All staff was friendly too. I would recommend My Reis Salon and Austin for sure!!! I went back and forth between 2 and 3 stars. 2 stars says "Meh. I've experienced better." which is EXACTLY how i feel but i feel that 2 stars is quite harsh. My cut isn't bad, it's just not great and it's definitely not what i asked for. I even brought pictures to show what I wanted and my stylist barely glanced at them (which is probably why my cut ended up the way it did). The entire process took less than a half hour and that's including washing. The stylist wasn't friendly and i ended up just listening in on the conversation of another person getting their hair done. Price was extremely cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. I'm just annoyed that I'm going to have to go somewhere else to get what I want. read more

The first time I came for a haircut, I was in and out in 30 minutes. This included, hair wash, cut and blow dry for $50+tip. (Most salons spend a little bit more time with you.) the cut was fine. I decided to book a partial foil with Austin. I was running 10 mins late and called. Receptionist said it was okay and to get there as soon as I can. They called back within 2 mins and said it was too late. I was just getting the exit. Apparently, they reserve 30 minutes for a foil and that her next client is showing up in 10 mins. 30 minutes for a haircut and 30 mins for a partial foil? I've never heard of that before. I question the quality of work if they only lot for half hour increments. read more

This is my favorite salon in New Hampshire! Brooke is my all time favorite stylist. She is amazing and does a wonderful job with my hair. She is my go to girl! I come here often because my best friend lives in NH. I live in CT and the over 3 hour drive is worth it to see my best friend and get my hair blown out by Brooke. This salon is awesome! I went this week for a manicure and there was hair all over the floor when I waked back to the nail room. The same hair was still all over the floor when I walked back about an hour later. I literally had to walk around it. During that whole time the "manager" I guess was in her office. Maybe she should have swept the floor? The person that did my nails was fine. Let me preface this by saying I have never given anyone a bad review in my entire life, doing so makes me uncomfortable. I am, however, disappointed enough that my quiet nature is upset to the point that I must communicate my dissatisfaction otherwise my conscience will not be able to rest. I have worked in the customer service field for the past 14 years, almost half of which was in the medical field where I delt with patients (customers) all day long. Having that experience I know how to communicate with people in all different situations, most valuable of them all being the "dissatisfied customer". I had an appointment on 8/21 at My Reis in Portsmouth with Katie for a haircut and a consult to follow up on last months color correction visit I had with her. My previous color correction visit which was only necessary after a botched balayage at their Exeter location several days before. It became clear to me that we must of had an enormous misscommunication at my last appointment due to the fact that my hair regrowth has left me with a solid line of demarcation (which during our last visit I was assured would not happen). The whole premise behind choosing a balayage service, after all is that the root color fades into blonde so that it can grow out without any stark, unnatural lines...I am a low maintenance kinda gal which I'm pretty sure is the definition of the term Balayage. When I showed Katie my problem she proceeded to tell me that I didnt get a balayage the last time I saw her (what on earth did I get, one might ask?) - The answer being "one month to skunk head" as that is what I look like. I believe Katie took personal offense, something one should never do with a customer. She was not kind and understanding, she was coarse and curt- there was no effort made to reconcile, she only told me I must pay more to have the color correction corrected or wait for my hair to grow out. There was no effort for resolution, nor did management get involved even after I walked out of my appointment, without even getting my hair cut. I am unsure how managment is taught to deal with such an incident but Lisa failed to do her due diligence with me, never followed up, very poor business managment. Just as you did, i scrolled through their website and saw all the gorgeous hair and glowing reviews, but take that with a grain of salt...I know stylist are human and therefore make mistakes just as I do. The difference here being that when I under-deliver, I fix it, I go the extra mile to salvage and maintain a satisfied customer. If you are reading my post wondering if you should book an appointment- do yourself a favor record your conversation with your stylist and keep it..just in case you are not satisfied and they do not want to admit to their mistakes, better yet go to the Wingate Spa as i have now done and am very happy with their work & communication in setting forth a plan to fix my hair. I sincerely hope that the owner of My Reis reads this and uses my criticism to make some much needed changes to how they handle experiences such as mine in the future. Continuity is key in any business however I believe it hard to achieve for My Reis due to the high turnover. I've been here twice. Once for a haircut, mani, and pedi & once for just a haircut. The mani/pedi was nothing "special"- just like you would get at a regular nail salon. The place was very clean though. But there was nothing special about the mani pedi that would make me continue paying more than at a regular nail salon. Both times the hair cut was good- but again, it wasn't like completely out of this world to the point where I would rave about the customer service or the process. It was just a regular haircut. My guess is you're more so paying for the pretty atmosphere... because the salon itself is beautiful and clean. Which is obviously important. The reason I won't go back though is because I was annoyed with the receptionist, though I didn't say anything to her and was nice. But I went to pay with Apple Pay, which can be done anywhere you can slide your card. She stopped me and was like "we don't have that here." I tried explaining that ANYWHERE you can slide a card you can use Apple Pay. There's no special "Apple Pay reader" that needs to be installed or anything. I tried explaining and saying I could just try it- but she insisted that they don't have it. So because I don't carry my cards on me anymore being as I either use cash or Apple Pay, and I didn't have enough cash on me at the time, I had to have her manually input my card number. I worked as a receptionist for 5 years before having children, both in a nail salon and a hair salon. I don't know why this was so annoying to me, but I just felt like she could have just let me try instead of going back and forth with me! The reason I have given them 3 stars is because the atmosphere is pretty and clean & the job they did was fine, it wasn't a bad haircut or mani/pedi. But the reason I deducted two stars is because all three women I came in contact with there (aside from the girl that did my mani/pedi, she was super nice!) were kind of snobby and had attitude. They almost had a superior attitude and weren't very warm. As someone who's worked in some form of customer service her whole life, including in salons, I expect a little more from employees attitudes. read more

Austin is fantastic! I am not one to like my haircut, but she got me over that fear with her consistent ability to cut my hair perfectly. Having thick hair can be difficult to cut correctly. She does an excellent job of giving advice on how to manage all my hair at home and cutting it so it is more manageable. Love this place! read more

I have a very busy schedule and this salon has a website that allows you to fully schedule appointments on-line. My experience was disappointing. I am under the impression that the hair-stylist doesn't have any experience in men's haircut. At the beginning the clipper did not work, even a piece of the clipper fell off. The shampoo came unsually in the middle of the haircut, not at the beginning and not at the end. The haircut was terrible, uneven, gaps and discrepancies. The hairstylist probably did her best but she gave the impression that she did not know what she was doing and she could not wait to go home. I do not reccomend this place and I will not definitively be back. I will need to go somewhere else and get it fixed. I believe that if a business is unable to provide a specific service to a customer they should just say it openly. read more

Oh my goodness, I had the BEST haircut here this weekend! I was pretty nervous because I wanted to chop off quite a bit and I've never had a short cut I really loved, but Lisa spent a long time with me beforehand figuring out the best style to work with my face shape and hair texture and the amount of styling I was willing to do. And let me tell you, she did a *fabulous* job! Every time I pass a mirror I smile because I'm so happy with how it looks. And for one of the first times, it's not just the day-of hair that looks great. Lisa managed to give me a cut I can style and be happy with on my own. Oh, and she colored my hair to cover the grays, and it's perfect - really close to my natural shade, but just a hint warmer and richer. This is a long overdue review. I have been going to this salon for about 3 years after my mom raved about how great a place it was. My mom was 100% right. I have never trusted anyone with my hair as much as I trust Austin. I have a lot of (very thick) hair and before Austin, I felt as though my hair would be forever unmanageable. She's proved me wrong. She's truly changed me from dreading my hair to actually enjoying it. All the staff who work at My Reis are kind, friendly and they make the environment very pleasant. It speaks volumes that, as a return customer (even the second time!) they remember your name. Their own product (LuLu) is truly amazing (the Mermaid Spray is my summer must-have) and I can't begin to say enough positive things. As for pricing, it is higher depending on the level of which your stylist is. I don't think the prices are much different from other salons and, truthfully, I would rather pay more and know my hair is being treated right. Worth every penny. Every time I leave My Reis I feel giddy because I know I look great. Without fail, I have strangers telling me how great my hair looks after a visit to My Reis. This is hands down the best salon I have ever been to and I recommend it to anyone and everyone. read more

I had come here before and they had missed a part of my hair with the dye so i was weary to try them again, but i am pleasantly surprised how amazing it came out! i had highlights and i wanted to go fully black, i had expressed my concern to the stylist about full coverage and she went above and beyond! she did the dye very carefully and even put a glaze on after to make sure there was no spots missed AND my hair is shiny and healthy. I visited NH from the Boston area prior to a family wedding recently and went to My Reis salon to have 2 services : my hair cut/full foil and a shellac manicure. I Can't give this salon enough compliments on the quality of thier work and thier customer service. the front desk was super friendly, very welcoming and the salon is very clean and modern. My stylist Lisa was amazing! she was able to understand exactly what I wanted for color. She rocks. Not only was she an excellent stylist but she also is a nail technician, who gave me a a shellac manicure that has lasted far more than 2 weeks. I work in a hospital and wash my hands a million times a day and my nails are still perfect! She even changed her lunch around to make sure I was a happy customer. My experience at this salon was so positive. Making an appointment for a blow-out was very simple and easy. The receptionist was welcoming and the place is very clean and bright. The person who did my hair, Nick, was super easy to talk to and welcomed my ideas for my hair. He was giving me tips and pointers as he did my hair which ended up being super helpful! My hair came out amazing and I immediately made another appointment for another blow out. I recommend this place if you need your hair done, my experience was great! read more
