I was here visiting friends and I had to make two separate reservations with the hotel one for Friday one for Saturday as they were very booked. My card was charged for both rooms ahead of time. When I checked in, I explained to the front desk person, and she told me she made sure that the reservation was made into one and that I could stay in the same room for the whole weekend - no problem (she was very nice). I came back to my room at 930 at night and my key card didn't work. The staff in this hotel went INTO my room and PACKED UP MY THINGS in the middle of my stay. I went to the lobby and spoke with a woman who said that they had deactivated my card. They didn't understand why I had two separate reservations. This was an error completely on their end and they acted like I was the problem. She was rude, unhelpful and unapologetic. The rooms were paid for, and the fact that they were prepaid AND that I had stayed the night before meant they COULD HAVE CALLED me if there was a problem. Instead, the staff PACKED ALL OF MY CLOTHING up that was laid out on a desk, and put it away in my suitcase. They touched everything I brought - folded my belongings, even putting away my toothbrush and toothpaste in my suitcase. I feel so VIOLATED - they did not apologize even though the error was on their end. She just smugly said it was a misunderstanding with no apology. Oh really? Not mine!!! I would not recommend this hotel and I already cancelled the reservation I had in April!!!

The store is your basic camp store, but if you need something particular, there are a few places within driving distance. We really enjoyed going to the Maple shack and the Quechee Gorge area. Room was large (and AC was working fine) but decor was random and impersonal. King-sized bed was very comfortable and tiled shower bathroom was clean and functional. Note that the Inn is FOR SALE (last 500 days), so this may explain lack of attention to anything more than basic accommodation. I was unable to speak to anyone in management about having a late checkin -- they only respond to email (not phone) and not promptly and not on my first attempt. This was very odd. For the price ($281, with taxes), I think it should have been a lot nicer. Town is very quiet (actually pretty dead) and many businesses appear shuttered. There is however, a lovely park at the end of the property (after the tree swing) called Paradise Park. This made for a nice walk in the morning. I was glad we discovered this on our own as the innkeepers were non-existent. Pleasant enough, but .... not exactly what I was hoping for at this price.

A real treat for city-folk!) The staff is friendly, but not intrusive, and helpful when asked for advice about the area. While the Inn is pricey, you get what you pay for. Our room (Room 7 on the 3rd floor) was huge, with a mix of country and mid-century furniture, a very comfy king size bed with crisp clean-smelling sheets, bureau, and windows on two sides looking out over the street and grounds. It was painted a muted light green with white moldings and doors, and wide pine floors. There's a big LCD tv on the wall, with cable as well as a blu-ray player with access to Netflix, Pandora and YouTube (if you have accounts.) Also a few dozen movies in the Library to borrow (we watched a couple movies.) I peeked into several other rooms, and i don't think you could go wrong with any of them, all huge and very nicely appointed. The room was immaculate and also featured radiant floors in the 4-peice classically styled bath, which included a claw foot rub (outfitted with bath salts), a subway-tiled shower, and a quirky exposed beam running through one corner of the space. They have L'Occitane products A small vase of fresh flowers in the bathroom was a nice touch. The room had an efficient, quiet spit AC / heat unit, as well as supplemental old-style radiators (for winter stays). There is free, open WiFi throughout the house. The continental breakfast was what you'd expect - bagels, pastries, yogurt, cereal and boiled eggs. It's included and held in the spacious dining room. There is tea and coffee available there 24-hours. For the money (this isn't a cheap place), it would have been nice to have something like hot eggs, bacon set out as well, but the breakfast was perfectly in line with many B&Bs. There's also cookies left out in the lobby all afternoon, till they are gone, a nice touch as well. There's also a library / living room on the first floor to relax or read some of the volumes, and two porches as well. There were a couple small issues, which i wouldn't count as major: The windows didn't have screens, so you couldn't really open the windows to let the cool night air in (my partner wondered if the historic nature of the building was the reason), there wasn't a mini-fridge in the room, which i really like (it could fit in the closet easily). A note on the town itself: While the town itself is somewhat of one-stoplight town, there are a few dining spots around (inexplicably, no restaurants are open anywhere around on Monday night!), the longest covered bridge in the world, the Simon Pearce glass HQ, a Harpoon brewery, and the sort of new agey but fun "Path of Life" sculpture garden, also within a half hour drive: Hanover NH (Dartmouth College), quaint Woodstock, VT, and Quechee Gorge. So there's plenty to do for a weekend trip. In fact, we did quite alot in our two night stay, and my only regret in staying there was i wasn't there longer to have a change to just relax and read, walk around the pond out back, and generally enjoy the house. And if it hadn't rained the 2nd night, i'd have liked another chance to star-gaze, since i didn't have a wish ready when i say the one shooting star the first night.

We drove up from Philadelphia and his a massive snow storm that delayed us about 3 hours from our targeted arrival time. Brian from Twin Farms called us at least once to make sure we were good, and upon arrival, greeted us and allowed us to stretch a bit with a tour of the main house. We stayed in a suite in the Farmhouse which has two large fireplaces, and was impeccably well appointed. The art in the building was possibly some of our favorite we've encountered in our travels, and made the stay that much better. The facilities are what all of the guests want to talk about it seems which is a greta compliment to the staff at Twin Farms. Service is what most people judge a place such as this for, and Twin Farms was serious about top flight service. Brian, Amanda, Rebecca, David, Michael....everyone.... we're amazing and made even the most random request a reality. A few times my wife and I were allowed to raid the imported and craft beer stores, and David went out of his way to purchase a whisky that we both like, and I know that wasn't easy for him. Dinner in the main dining area with other people might not seem intimate, but the mood created int he room, plus the arrangement of the seats really created a great atmosphere for not only quite conversation, but relaxed everyone. The food really was the star of our trip for us. My wife and I dine out weekly and really wanted to stay somewhere with the best food, and this was it. From a breakfast menu that had everything for everyone, to lunches that rival dinner in many places, to the multi-course dinners that left you satisfied and talking about that meal hours after. A great combination of service and food is that ordering something for your room, or dining in another building is not a problem. Boxed meals to order were convenient and delicious as were the requests for any of last night's diner leftovers to be delivered to the pub for lunch and billiards. It was all there, and great. Since we stayed at Twin Farms in the snow, we were able to snow shoe and hike parts of the grounds, but we can really see how amazing the place would be in the summer and fall. As far as our time, the downhill skiing wasn't quite ready, but sledding, cross country skiing and the snow shoeing were all available. With the weather we had it made it a great time to just have a fire in the pub, work on a Stave puzzle, and enjoy some wine. We think we'll be heading back this summer to really take advantage of the biking, hiking, fly fishing, and canoeing, but for us hibernating in the snow was awesome. So yeah, that's what's fresh on my mind right now. Twin Farms is what you expect for the price point, but there are so many times that the staff go above and beyond, it's easy to see why Twin Farms ranks among the best in the country. I know it was October, the end of the season. but I still expected the cabin to be clean. The bathroom mirror was a mess and the baseboard had a season's worth of hair and dust from other guests. There were unwashed coffee cups and a big smear on the picture window. It was disappointin. Breakfasts were tolerable, melon the best part. Under the prior ownership, the lodge cooked custom breakfasts with the best muffins ever (fond memories of French puff and raspberry muffins), not a lukewarm buffet. We had dinner for 6 there one night and it was a debacle. Service could not have been worse. One fellow ordered an appetizer as his main course and it was dellivered to the center of the table for people to share. Plates came out at random so some people ate while others waited. One friend and I waited more than a hour while everyone else finished their dinners. We finally got our two dinners as one of our party finished his dessert. The timing was the worst I've ever experienced. The waitress was incompetent and had to be reminded to bring anything we needed. The dining experience was so wretched that I don't even remember the food. The cold lack of hospitality, the state of our cabin, and the at best mediocrity of our dining has led us to find another place to stay when we visit. We can do better and pay less.

Everything about this hotel was unforgettable and it is probably my favorite hotel stay ever. The food was amazing. Breakfast was included and everything was cooked in house with really delicious and unique options like rosemary potatoes, high quality yogurt, and homemade jams. It all felt very homemade - because it was! The dining room was adorable and matched the rest of the property, which is filled with antiques. There are antiques everywhere in the hallways and the rooms carry that same vintage feel, which makes it really fun just to walk around and explore. There is also a library room with a pool table that feels like the cutest vintage lounge space. The pool area was amazing with a large hot tub, a nice pool, and a sauna. At night they have fire pits and complimentary s'mores packs so you can go outside and roast marshmallows. There are also games to borrow, a bar, river access, and so much more. A truly wonderful stay.
