I contacted My Personal Valet for providing assistance to my mother-in-law in Dallas. My MIL has memory issues, cannot drive, and had an unpleasant experience with hired "caregivers". Since she is able-bodied, takes her own medications on schedule, and cooks her own meals, she didn't feel she needed "care", and resented it.
I've worked as an executive assistant for many years, and I wondered if that might be a better option for my MIL, who needs help with computer tasks as well as transportation. That's how I found My Personal Valet online.
I talked to the owner of My Personal Valet, Paula Stein, about the situation and she was very understanding and helpful. My MIL also has a perfume sensitivity, and Paula was even able to find an assistant who was "unscented" and could be a good fit.
In the end, my MIL opted to not use any help and learn to use Uber for transportation. But Paula met with her in person, explained the options and how My Personal Valet could work for her, and was incredibly patient, kind and constructive.
In this process, I had several phone and email conversations with Paula, and I feel very confident in her abilities as a personal assistant, even though my MIL didn't end up hiring her. I think one good assistant can recognize another. :-) read more
