We saw the Cafe 86 LA location in a news clip, and it reminded me that there's one closer to us…read more I've been to the Mira Mesa location before, but this was my first time at this one. My husband and I both love ube, and Cafe 86 is known for its variety of ube desserts. It was fairly quiet when we visited on a Saturday afternoon. Since we had already eaten lunch, we decided to stop by for dessert. The inside was pretty nice -- I especially liked the lighting, which gave the place an industrial vibe. There were couches and tables for seating, making it feel comfortable overall. We were greeted by a younger employee who could've been a bit more energetic and welcoming. The dessert case also looked a little sparse and underwhelming. My husband ordered the Ube Monster shake, and I got the ube cheesecake. The shake was pretty good, though not as creamy as I expected, and I wished the ube flavor was stronger. The ube cheesecake, on the other hand, was fluffy and not overly sweet, which I really liked. It also had a thick cookie crust that was delicious. Still, I would've loved a more pronounced ube flavor in that as well. I'm a huge ube fan, and when I make ube desserts at home, I usually add extra flavoring to really make it stand out. Overall, I'd come back again. Next time, I definitely want to try the flan!

Had a craving for halo halo and wanted to check this place out since they had different varieties…read more I was in between the upside down halo-halo but chose the mais con yelo since I really enjoy sweet corn desserts but rarely see them. Overall, it tasted okay, but I wished that you were able to customize it somehow (i.e add jellies, change slush flavor, etc). Maybe I could have asked but what made it challenging was that the menu did not clearly show everything they had to offer or it was hard to decipher which price went with what item. The cooler was pretty good and it was part of their $3 drink specials. Keep in mind though, it was not advertised, I just happened to know because I almost did an online order and saw it. I plan to go back and try some more things but there really needs to be more transparency about the menu and the prices clearly displayed.

Stopped by here last night around 9:50ish, right before closing and I was kinda scared to even…read morecheck if they were still open since closing time is 10pm. I walked up to the door and pulled the handle and thank goodness they were still open. A place that actually honors their closing time is a huge win in my eyes. I ordered a medium size cup because I wanted two scoops. I got the Black Cherry and Rocky Road, and both tasted soooo good and creamy! Service was super friendly, and this location is big and spacious. There's plenty of parking and I only spent about $7, which is a fair price. Check them out if you're craving ice cream.

Not a big fan of Ice Cream places unless it's Mexican Ice Cream places. But my kids have convinced…read moreme to come here a few times & yes I'm a fan now. First off the portions they give you are big especially for the prices, that was a big plus for me. Customer service is good, workers are nice & tho it gets busy at times & they have a line they keep moving smoothly, tho extra staff on weekends would be nice for them & us. They have few tables outside & a big lot so you can chill & eat in your car. The Ice Cream here is pretty thick & good, my fav is the Orange Dream Cream, taste just like the orange bar with cream inside that I ate as a kid, it's amazing! My other two is the Banana Cream Pie & Dulce De Leche so yes I get my Mexican Ice Cream fix here haha, they have a Horchata one too. And they have a great Banana Split, they give you the bananas sliced which is cool & portions are big in it. Shakes are good just a bit too thick so might as well get Ice Cream. So if you like delicious, thick Ice Cream with big portions then come here & bring the fam as I do.

This is always a good sign, especially during the holidays. I ordered ahead on the Crumbl App. My cookies had a specific pickup time. I arrived 10 mins after the pickup time. The staff was so customer service oriented, that they prepared my mobile order freshly into the box when I arrived; instead of letting it sit out. I appreciated this so much. My pickup was seamless. When we got home, the Crumbl order was perfect. Yummy, as usual. I like this location. Even though it's small, it is efficient and they have great customer service. The only con about this location is that it is smaller than the Point Loma Location and some other locations. This causes customers to order, then wait outside because it's so crowded in the store. Overall, it was a good experience.

My only gripe is that I had it delivered through door dash and when it arrived, there wasn't a tamper proof sticker on the box. Eeek! There usually is so it surprised me. Thankfully the cookies looked normal but I hope the shop will take an extra minute to make sure to-go orders have that sticker. It sure gives me the peace of mind with my orders. Since this was to-go, I can't speak to the cleanliness of the space.
