Via Cuma - Sourdough Pizza & Cucina - 02 - Diavola Pizza Personal

Via Cuma - Sourdough Pizza & Cucina

(60 reviews)

I'm driving back from Maryland and I planned to stop at Via Cuma for lunch…read more I understand Via Cuma is a not by the slice pizza shop, it's more authentic with a personal size pizza. I parked across the street (make sure you feed the parking meter) and walked inside. I'm assuming it was the owner, I said I'm so hungry and was asked to grab any open table. The restaurant is cozy with multiple tables which can be adjusted to fit a large or small party. The owner comes over with an iPad, I just want a glass of wine with lunch. No bueno, I don't think they have a liquor license. I ordered a coke instead. This word is tripping me up, I know it's devilish, Diavola? I make the sign of the cross as I order this pizza. The owner explains this is his favorite pizza, I can see why. The Diavola Pizza is made with San Marzano Tomato Sauce, Hot Soppressata Salame from Calabria and topped with Parmigiano Reggiano cheese along with a drizzle of Olive Oil. This is a pizza that's more heavenly than devilish. There's some heat coming from various ingredients but it's welcomed. The sourdough is something that's interesting, I had this dough in Syosset last week. Is this a new trend? It brought the pizza to another level, there's more complexity with the imported ingredients. I also appreciated the cheese, I should have asked if it was made in-house. Via Cuma, great pizza the other day! Thanks for the Italian lesson on pronouncing Diavola

Via Cuma is cozy and well decorated with authentic Italian culture from the wall tiles to the scenic artwork. We decided to order the wings and fritto misto for appetizers. The wings came with a flavorful lemon pepper dipping sauce that had the perfect kick to it. We also got the Capricciosa pie. You can't go wrong with prosciutto and artichoke! Overall it was a great experience. Parking is tough so leave time to find a spot. We are excited for their second location to open.

Came in with a friend to try the famous pizookies! We came…read moreon a saturday night and got sat within 5 minutes. Our server was friendly and attentive. The sampler did take a bit long to come out but the manager spoke to us without even asking and was super nice about it. When the food did come out it was hot and great to share for two. For the pizookies, the biscoff is a 10/10, and the favorite from the two. The dubai chocolate is very heavy and just tastes like a brownie to me but that is a preference thing. Overall, we will be back to try more and had a good experience.

From the moment we sat down, our server/bartender Sherese was absolutely incredible. She was super attentive, friendly, and made us feel so welcomed. Her customer service was top-tier--honestly, her manager should recognize her and give her a raise because she truly goes above and beyond! Now let's talk about the food... WOW. My sister ordered the full rack of ribs and they were very meaty, tender, and packed with flavor. She paired it with a fresh salad, New England clam chowder, and a baked potato--everything was on point. I had the Tatonka bone-in wings and they were cooked to perfection--juicy, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. I also had the New England clam chowder and guacamole with chips, and every bite was bursting with amazing flavor. I finished it all off with a nice cup of tea with lemon, which was the perfect touch. Everything from the food to the service was excellent. This spot is definitely a must-visit if you're in the area. We came in just to eat before shopping, but ended up having such a great dining experience that we were too full to even go shopping--we just went home to relax!
