The inn is dog-friendly, which was a huge plus for us. Our pups felt right at home and were clearly welcome. The rooms are comfortable, charming, and full of character with that classic historic feel. A special shoutout to the owner, Matt -- he's such a cool, friendly guy and made us feel like we were staying with a friend rather than at a typical inn. His hospitality really made the difference. If you're looking for a peaceful, pet-friendly base to explore the redwoods, Myers Inn is the perfect spot. Highly recommend!

My wife, her mom, and I came here as our second stop (09:05) on day five of our Northern California road trip. There is a big parking lot with plenty of spots to shop and admire. The gift shop is named Burl N' Drift Redwood and had a lot of souvenirs made out of recovered redwood. We ended up buying a few things. At the west end of the parking lot, there is a thousand year old-growth redwood. It has survived a lightning strike, a loggers axe, and a forest fire, symbolizing the resiliency of the mighty redwoods. It's worth stopping by to take a picture or two.

Can I just live here?…read more Scotia Lodge went beyond our expectations by a mile, and then some. When we saw the price we thought, is this too good to be true? It's true! They have managed to blend the historic nature of this hotel with modern amenities perfectly (without feeling too boutique/hipster-y). Greeted with a free beverage upon arrival, we made our way to our room to find it clean and cozy, with ample outlets, reliable wifi, and a clawfoot tub. After four days on the road, a soak in that tub gave me life! There is a restaurant serving breakfast 8-12, dinner 5-9 (we got The Lumberjack waffle sandwich for breakfast. Not sure what I was expecting, but I wasn't expecting in-house recipe waffle mix stuffed to bursting with eggs, sausage and cheese. YUM!), and a bar downstairs that has very fair pricing. They also have soaking tubs for $25/hour with Epsom salts and other amenities (we didn't rent it but it sounds great). There is a local grocery store just across the street that has ready made hot/cold foods, beer and liquor, and anything else you may need. Located just north of the Humboldt Redwoods State Park, it's a perfect starting or ending point for your redwoods excursion. Every staff member we interacted with was kind, prompt, and informative. The grounds are beautiful, with a large picnic area to enjoy your morning cup at. This place gives Overlook Hotel vibes in the BEST way possible. Can't wait to come back! This place is unique as it is a trip back in time and gives the feel of being there. Outside of a mini fridge and tv, there are few noticeable upgrades from back in the day. While a very cool place, and glad to have had the opportunity to stay here, it wasn't my cup of tea. It happened to be pretty warm during my stay and the rooms here don't have a/c. Even with the windows opened, I was never able to get the room cooled down. Adding a mini split to each room would be beneficial. Another reviewer had mentioned no hand rails in the tub/shower and that it seemed dangerous. While I'm not thinking it necessarily dangerous, it would be handy to have rails, especially for older folks. The bed was ok and the two pillows on the bed were pretty small and flat. Again, I was on a longer trip and looking for a bit more of an updated place. If you are looking for for a classic, vintage stay, this would be your place.

Two nights in a tent site this month…read more Pros: Fantastic service and communication by the camp host, both before and during our two night stay. Bathrooms were very clean, well lit, and fully functional. Firewood and other necessities were delivered right to our site upon arrival - so awesome! The patch of old growth we camped in was long-ago cut large trees which had sprouted a dozen or so normal trees out of them. The woods were DARK due to dense canopies and staved off the rain when it fell, which we loved. Most importantly, this CG doesn't fill up six months ahead of arrival date so you can actually book them like a normal campground used to be (I'm glaring at YOU, California State Parks). Cons: Loud road noise due to proximity to 101 and surface roads. In fact, several of the sites abut the neighboring private property, allowing you to see through an old privacy fence directly into their back yard. Luckily our host let us swap spots when we realized this. Several tent campsites lacked picnic tables, which made me concerned if they'd have been full (they definitely weren't this May weekend). The fire rings were sufficient but also just old wheels. Showers in bathroom were in dire need of new fixtures (hard water made them look quite...eek...just glad I wasn't wearing my glasses while I showered). We recognized this area is a difficult one to have high expectations in due to remoteness and gave an extra star for the supremely kind and helpful woman who hosted us. We may not be back up here again, but if we are I hope to run into her.

The managers Michael and Kimberly (?) are professional and friendly. They went out of their way to help us settle in even while working through the afternoon check-in rush. The location is well protected and secure with everything you could need. This is an absolute gem and we will be back when we're heading either north or south through Humboldt County.

My dog could not walk on it and it kept getting dragged into RV on shoes and socks. - Pro- Bathroom was close without being next door to this site. - Sunnier spot.

Property is an old 1940's "Motor Court", nestled along the Avenue of the Giants, which is actually "Old Highway 101." You're not getting the Ritz Carlton, here, but that's the charm of the place. The Room was spotless, and came with a TV with Dish Network, microwave, and fridge. The A/C worked fantastic. The bed was VERY comfortable, and the bathroom was small, but very clean. I had a problem with the Wi Fi, but I sent a message to Dottie, and she had the problem fixed within a half hour. That's the sign of a great host that when something *does* go wrong, they take care of it right away. I would happily stay here again in a heartbeat!!!

This was a cozy place to rest on your way to or from the redwoods. There isn't much within many…read moremiles so be sure to bring dinner with you, or eat before you get there. The place is in need of some renovations, but the bed was comfy and we slept well. Everything was clean, there was a small fridge, microwave and in room coffee. The sink and shower stall drained very slowly. There was a 3 in 1 trader Joe's body wash/conditioner provided. So if you need something better for your hair, don't forget your own products. We did meet the owners and they seemed nice. We checked in, then went and did some exploring on the avenue of the Giants. The visitor center is about ten miles up the road, there is a cool museum there about the parks history. The third oldest tree in the park is on a short .6 mile loop trail across from the visitor center.
