First the very good: You cannot beat the location. Heart of the redwoods and only 1/2 a mile away from the Stephens Grove Loop Trail. The other trails are just up the road. It's within walking distance to a convenience store/gas station, a coffee shed, and a family restaurant and a fancier diner. The very cute older 'grandma' cottages are quiet with not much noise from the main road. We rented cottage #6 for 4 days which is at the back of the resort and has a back deck overlooking the forest. The bed was very comfortable, although the antique chairs were more for looks. We were worried that the living room couch wouldn't hold us as it creaked and bowed. For comfort we sat on pillows. The bad you have to accept with older cottages is there is very few free plug outlets. We had to stagger times to keep all those 'essential' modern devices charged. Also, the water pressure is lousy. If you take a shower you can forget about doing dishes in the sink. Getting the correct shower temperature takes a while as it goes from scalding to ice after 30 seconds of adjusting. The TV has a number of local stations as well as several streaming networks (with your sign on) They do have two machines for laundry at $3.00 a load at the very far end of the resort. Although I don't recommend using them as the washer smelled of mold and the dryer needed cleaning. Now the very bad: We found the condition of the kitchen and bathroom very dirty to the point of us having to clean up when we checked in. There are multiple signs saying you are responsible for dishes as there is no dishwasher. I guess that means we were at the mercy of the last person who was here, and their idea of clean was lacking. That didn't explain why the floor needed mopping so badly. Also, there were multiple mold spots in the shower area. For what is being charged I thought there would be a minimum level of clean. When we checked in the smell of bug spray was very strong. I would have thought they would have aired out the cabin after spraying.

This was a great little trip! We went midweek in winter (late January) and stayed in Cabin 6. It was lovely. We spoke with the owner, G, on the phone who was very accommodating. The cabin was clean and the kitchen was well appointed. It even had an air fryer. The beds were comfortable and the fireplace/heaters worked well to keep it cozy. The deck outside was great to feel immersed in the forest while enjoying a bowl of cereal. We went for several hikes and bike rides through the Avenue of the Giants. It was perfect!!! There's a hike you can do right from the property which is beautiful. There are a few spots to eat or get groceries across the street - very convenient. The two main restaurants were both closed on Weds evening, but we were able to get a hot dinner from the Miranda Market (fried chicken, potato wedges, really delicious biscuit) plus some fresh asparagus which we cooked. There is an EV charger there too (at the Market across the street). All the staff we met were friendly. They were repainting the area near the fire pit and making other investments in the property (our back deck was new this year, I believe).

We really enjoyed the forrest ambiance walking through the enchanted grounds filled with thoughtful foliage and historic redwoods! Great for our small dog too! Kitchen was impeccable in fact, the entire cabin was immaculately clean!

As a teacher, I was always known as a fairly generous grader. I'm afraid Miranda Gardens does not deserve anything more than three stars or,a C. It looks cute from the outside, but inside it's tattered and old and unkept as are the grounds. There is little to no Wi-Fi or Internet so if you want to keep in touch with the outside world, you might consider going somewhere else. And, if you leave any dirty dishes, there is a sign that says they will charge you $75. It's that sort of small mentality that makes this place mediocre at best.

Charming cabins in the redwoods along highway 101 driving through Avenue of the Giants. Stayed overnight in April during a spring break roadtrip. Room was incredibly spacious, with decor that fits with what we thought a charming cabin in the woods would look like. The fridge and microwave are even retro in look but very modern working. The cabin and grounds are clearly well cared for. The cabin we stayed in had an attached deck patio overlooking the redwood forest with an additional patio that we used to relax during happy hour sipping our traveling old fashioneds before cooking dinner on our camp stove (skillet cooked filet Mignon with potatoes, carrots, cucumber). Bathroom is incredibly spacious with a whirlpool jacuzzi tub/shower that's very roomy. Staying in enough motels, hotels, cabins and you're learn to appreciate a shower that has room to stretch even though I'm not a large guy. The grounds give room to roam, with a basketball court that we used after dinner, a young children jungle gym, horseshoes and a hiking trail just down the street. a tip given to us by the staff who are friendly and welcoming. There's also a pool (owner told us it's being converted to a heated pool), a grill, and a group of fire pits that would be great places for family and friends to hangout. All in all, the exact spot we wanted to stay when traveling through the redwoods on our journey north to the Oregon coast.

While on a road trip through California, we were mesmerized by the majestic scenery of the redwood forest. So we decided to stay in the area overnight. Looking online, I found the Miranda Garden's Resort, read the reviews, and then we knew we had to stay here. After we checked in, we drove through an area with flowers and greenery surrounding our vehicle. And with a smooth brick road. When we arrived at our cabin we were amazed. It was very spacious. It had two stories with one bedroom on each floor, a full-size kitchen, a living room with an electric fireplace and flat screen TV. The vintage decor contributed to the ambience. In the morning I enjoyed a cup of coffee, while sitting on the deck looking at the scenery.

Pros: Very quaint, hospitable and right by the Avenue of the Giants. It felt like we had traveled back in time. We had a very enjoyable walk in the forest right behind where we were staying. Cons: Blinds were broken which made it cumbersome to open the windows on a warm night.

The Asian manager was really nice and moved what I think his car out of the way so we could park safely and be able to pull out straight away and get on the road. It had already been a pretty bad vacation since my car died on day one. The property itself is pretty rundown and there were a lot of cobwebs in the room that could've definitely been removed but overall it worked well for what we needed. The toilet handle the was glued back together definitely needed to be replaced. It failed immediately. The outback had a really nice patio set and the front of the rooms all looked really nice. Overall, for what it was it was fine but it was an almost $200 fee. There are a lot of trailers there that you can tell our people who live there not vacationing. It served our purpose. We recently married in August 2025 and we wanted to get out of Los Angeles and see the Redwoods for our honeymoon. We were looking for quiet, peace, and nature. We found a small piece of heaven, a glimpse into the garden of Eden or at least the ranch in heaven! THE ROOM: We stayed for 4 nights and had the most relaxing time together. Let me start with the room. My husband called and emailed as he was able to see pictures of the rooms to help make a decision. We chose the Captains Quarters and it served us perfectly. We had access to the jacuzzi, a very private room, and the most serene view. The inn was so well kept and the attention to detail was very much appreciated. I pray it stays like this and they keep investing in the upkeep as it was well maintained and we loved the craftsmanship. We loved the decor of the room. I didn't even think twice about a tv. There is no need for television with a view of paradise through the window. THE PEOPLE: We were so blessed to have Colby hosting us at dinner time each evening. He went above and beyond to help us have privacy as we dined each night at a newly married couple. He worked very hard and was exceptionally good and professional at his job. He kept the fireplace going each night for us, talked with us when we engaged conversation, was polite, respectfully, and made us feel very comfortable. He recommended and made great drinks, and helped us with some exploration tips around the area. We made it to the Avenue of the Giants, the tide pools, Mendocino, and a few other local places like Fort Bragg and the Skunk Train. Colby made us feel at home on the ranch. Clancy gave us an amazing UTV tour. His knowledge of the rich history of the area and deep passion for what he does made the trip all the more special. He showed us great sights and if we had more time, we would have definitely done the picnic next time. What he does on the trails to maintain and create them is incredible. What a job to maintain the land. Also, I loved being able to meet and pet his dog! THE FOOD: This is where I was blown away. I thought we were coming for the view, but had no idea the food would be just as stunning. Chef Nick Wells, you are a culinary genius. We were so grateful to have the opportunity to meet and speak with Chef Nick. He, too, was familiar with the surrounding Los Angeles area and so it was great to connect and to share our appreciation and admiration for his talent and creativity. He was so down to earth and friendly. The food was next level. We did both the ranch supper and tasting menu. We originally only had one dinner planned, but after tasting supper we canceled all other dinner reservations and made sure to come back each night for the food. Literally, we reworked our plans to come back and taste what creation he had planned for the evening. It was one of the highlights of the honeymoon and it really gave us a chance to connect as a couple. Side note, we fell in love with the bacon each morning- just incredible. I woke up looking forward to what feast awaited us at breakfast! What a treat and a great way to start our day each morning with a hearty feast. THE EXPERIENCE: The views not only from the room, but the ranch itself were breathtaking. I am used to Southern CA coastline with homes and businesses lining the beaches. Here, a person can breathe. This is how it was intended to be. I am so glad The Inn was kept to the number of rooms it is and that they haven't expanded to some big hotel. It would lose the magic and wonder. I loved that the dining experience was just for guests and there was no traffic. It was intimate and made us feel a part of the ranch. I really valued the experience. We worked very hard to be able to have this experience. Being able to appreciate the land, the trails, and the history of how Mr. Wilson wants to keep the land as was well worth it. The lodge itself was gorgeous. From the stained glass windows at the entrance to the garden and the trails with such special views, I was overwhelmed with beauty. We were so lucky the flowers called "Naked Ladies" which only bloom for about two weeks each year bloomed while we were there. Those pink ladies were gorgeous. THE FUTURE: We are starting to save now for August 2035 for our 10th year anniversary. We look forward to what awaits us down the road when we visit again! Please don't change. Thank you for everything!

We were excited to come after getting jealous from watching Reels on their Instagram, and boy- visiting in person was even 10x better. Would highly recommend going in the "Bay Area summer" of Sept/Oct because the weather was unbeatable, not a cloud in the sky as we enjoyed the pristine, awe-striking CA coast. We stayed in the Hearthstone Junior Suite and had our own private jacuzzzi underneath the stars. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner (and the drinks!) were Michelin star-worthy, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful (special shout out to Misha and Timmy who were especially accommodating to my service pug, Gus). The menu for each meal consisted of fresh food directly from the ranch. The creativity put into dishes honestly had me shocked that this place doesn't have a Michelin star already. SO so so delicious. 6 out of 5 stars. The Inn at Newport Ranch is like a secret gem, but I'm not going to gatekeep its beauty. CanNOT wait to come back soon!
