Morning breakfast served by their amazing staff. Fresh fruits, waffle, bacon and juice of you choice.

Amazing experience! Will definitely come back again. This place gives you your own privacy of feeling at home. Victorian home with a lot of history that can be felt during your stay.

Beautiful walls in the Veneto Rm.

Enjoyed our stay in the Veneto rm. Breakfast was delicious. Stayed another day in a different inn. The Gingerbread was far superior. Wish I could return.

Beautiful Victorian, very authentic with decor and music. Comfy big room and super friendly staff. Breakfast was excellent. Super close to downtown, like steps away! Would stay again!

There isn't enough words to say on how much I loved this place. The lady met me and helped me with my luggage to the 2nd floor. Super quiet and homey with fireplaces going. The rooms are amazing. She said I was able to look at any rooms with the doors open and they were so cool unique! So big and nice. My room was so cute and the bed had a stool to get into the bed. They are so high and comfy. I can't tell you enough about how comfortable the beds are. Slippers and robes for you to use. And clean! So clean! Big bathroom. 4-6 is free apps and wine and water. It was so nice . She had it all set up and so beautiful and I sat by the fireplace drinking wine and eating apps. And you can for 2 hours! And lots of appetizers to choose from. Finger foods but couldn't be more perfect. Ferndale is a very small town. One strip of shops and restaurants and one saloon bar. The mansion is walking distance to the strip. Perfect location. All the cable channels you need and I had the best sleep. I can't say enough how homey it is for it being so huge with so many rooms. For breakfast that is included it's all set up in another room with pre set menus . I am dairy free only and saw the menu and thought oh well I will pick and choose what I can eat. She walked up and said I saw your note on the reservation I made you an entire dairy free breakfast with blueberry muffin, eggs with vegan butter , potatoes, bacon etc. I couldn't believe how nice that was that I gave her a tip which I know wasn't required. But it was the sweetest thing. This is well worth seeing and staying . I spent one night at the casino across the river and one night here for a more restful night . Perfect weekend!

My husband and I stayed in the Garden room this past Friday night. The host who greeted us was super friendly and gave us a brief tour as well a suggestions for restaurants within walking and driving distance. Beautiful Interior and grounds, well kept room and spacious restroom. My only complaint is even though I really enjoyed all of the antique furniture, our bed was Super Creaky! I was scared move at all... it was that noisy lol! And it kinda sloped down so you were sleeping in a V position. We chose the 8:00 am breakfast as we had early plans for the day. There were two other couples seated in the dinning room when we arrived. I did feel like the hostess for breakfast was a little short with us vs the other two couples in the dining room at the time. She seemed very friendly with the other couples, even offering them sausage or bacon with their meal and asking if everything was ok, etc. When it came to us she was super short, clunked our plates down in front of us rather harsh, and that was it. I ran into her again to ask about where to leave the keys when we checked out and was met with the same kind of curt attitude. Overall we had just an okay stay. Not sure if I'd recommend to friends or family given how I was made to feel semi unwelcome. But I am glad we got to stop and see the quaint little town and enjoyed the Victorian architecture.

Went for my Daughter's bridal shower today. Was a little disappointed as the hostess didn't know much about the different teas and just left us and didn't explain what the food was either. Had to poor our own mimosas as well. Just expected more for the $60 champagne and $50 a person tab...

10/10 I would recommend !! The staff is so knowledgeable, friendly, considerate , accommodating and hospitable. They genuinely care and made my visit that much more amazing. I can feel the love and appreciation they put into running the gingerbread JUST WOW!! Thank you Olivia and Persia. This mother daughter duo are a pair unmatched in the kitchen and all around the gingerbread. There warm welcoming throughout my stay was hands down the best I've ever experienced. If you have a food allergy or are vegan vegetarian or just love food they make everything from scratch. You can smell and taste the love that the staff brings to the gingerbread's charm. It's so clean and inviting. I felt like I was transported into a different era . Olivia gave me a tour of the historical gingerbread mansion and let me look at all the rooms. Such a unique experience , I cannot wait to go back. I stayed last sept. And am planning a trip as soon as I can. There's so many reasons to check out this amazing establishment

...so my daughter got a week off for Thanksgiving break, she is seven, and for a week prior to her vacation we looked and looked and looked for a wonderful place to stay and we have been all over together, I am her father. We found this beautiful place online and checked it out and booked it immediately and we couldn't be happier that we did! wow what an experience what an amazing place, it's absolutely kept clean and organized and fireplaces everywhere that are running that leave you feeling just so comfortable. Plenty of games to play and plenty of rooms to explore, my daughter and I played hide and seek for hours and it was just amazing. And then we had breakfast, and it was absolutely beautiful and delicious, in fact our second day there we were served in the most classy and elegant style the very best biscuits and gravy I've ever had in my life. The mistress of the house Olivia was incredibly classy and accommodating, we will absolutely be coming back to this wonderful Jewel of a place. And there's plenty to do in the surrounding areas, like this amazing rock store only about 10 minutes away, plus you have the bay to play in, plus not too far is a really cool zoo. This is an amazing place to bring kids ... thank you for such a wonderful time!

Another delicious breakfast at Gingerbread Mansion.

Today's Breakfast Mother/Daughter Innkeepers Olivia and Persia have created a beautiful sanctuary in Ferndale at the Gingerbread Mansion. This was today's breakfast from Chef Persia Absolutely delicious!

This place was excellent - from the decor to the top notch staff. The room was nicely appointed and the bed extremely comfortable. The afternoon tea with cheese and wine was a delightful touch. Breakfast was good and consisted of a ham, eggs, fruit, and a biscuit. It was only a few minutes walk from the center of town.

breakfast at the bed and breakfast

beautiful, unique stay! tea service was set out when we checked in with complimentary wine and cheese as well, we got to tour the mansion, and enjoyed viewing the unoccupied suites (scoping which rooms we would pick for our next stay). our room was charming and quaint, very clean. the gounds were quiet and respectful. breakfast and coffee was served in the dining room the next morning, very delicious! would love to stay here again next time we're passing up or down the coast! highly recommend for anyone who appreciates old charm and character.

We drove up from the Bay Area and had the best time. It is a very quiet town, not too much going on, so it's good if you want to get away and enjoy some quiet. There is a beach 10 minutes away with barely any people so you can lay out for hours and just relax with the only sound being the waves. The hotel was so meticulously decorated and also very clean. So much detail went into decorating it, really feels like you step back in time. We came up to celebrate our anniversary and the staff were really sweet and left flowers outside our door with a note. They were also accommodating, as we arrived earlier than the check in time. They put so much love and effort into the snacks at tea time. The breakfast was also delicious. The only downside which was minuscule was that we were on the bottom floor right next to the kitchen so the other guests woke us up early when they went in for breakfast. So if you like to sleep in, maybe request a room upstairs. I can't get over how beautiful this place was. We will definitely make the 5 hour drive again!

From the moment I arrived, Keaton (the hostess) greeted me warmly and offered to help me with my luggage. I felt immediately enveloped with genuine kindness. When I realized i had no swimsuit for the spa, she offered to find me a substitute. Which she did. And the spa was wonderful with the ocean pounding below on the rocks, and seals barking in the night. And that's the way it went, the whole stay. When I missed the wonderful breakfast buffet in the morning, Keaton cheerfully fixed me a beautiful plate, and Met (also a hostess) made me a "happy face" orange juice to top it off.! Help with luggage was offered on leaving, along with much assistance with any request I had. The Beluga Room was absolutely wonderful, romantic, cozy, and balcony open to the ocean. The beach trail was exhilarating and do-able, even for an 81 year old woman. I have never had such a lovely time. Highly recommended. And dont forget to roast marshmellows (provided by the Inn) at the firepit at night, and get some hugs with Boscoe the old black cat who is waiting to love every human being in sight. G. Upon arrival we were greeted by our innkeeper for the night and a snack plate that included cheese, crackers, dried fruit, nuts, and salmon was ready for us to take up to our room. This snack plate is prepared everyday. The room was very comfortable and we loved the attention to detail. We stayed in the Egret room and we had plenty of space. The bed was comfortable and could slightly hear the sea lions from our room. No t.v. in the room and it was nice to connect with nature and rest. There was an indoor heater in the closet that we turned on to heat up the room and turned off when we slept. The blankets kept us warm at night. One night after staying out at the fire pit to hang out with other guests, we got back to our room to shower and we didn't have hot water. One of the innkeeper's told us sometimes it happens when too many people are showering at once. Not a deal breaker, although I want to share because this is something that I'd want to know. Back to good stuff...their breakfast is delicious every morning. It tastes like it is made with love. There is a trail down to the beach and a fire pit where they have all the ingredients necessary to make smores. The view is spectacular here. Truly one of a kind. We loved our experience here and look forward to coming back.

3 stars...... 2.5 isn't an option…read more Overall experience: It ended up being an acceptable time here. There are positives and some negatives that I will explain. Main concerns: * Overpriced for overall stay / experience * Unpleasant, extremely outdated decor; hard to ignore Positives: * Beautiful ocean view * Nice garden * Close to trailheads * Communal fridge filled with cold drinks; breakfast (I know it's a B&B but for this price, in-room coffee would've been nice.) * Very clean rooms * Hosts were kind, pleasant, informative Negatives: * Decor: The first impression was alarming at best. Online photos do leave you with the impression that the decor is dated but it is overwhelming to actually see once there. I had to walk back to the car and process whether I could actually stay here. After looking up availability of neighboring lodging and seeing no options (and considering the loss of money already spent here...), we decided to go inside. Instead of walking in the door, you have to use the old, outdated intercom where you're asked if you have a reservation. After being let in, we were still experiencing a lot of feelings ("creepy" is the word we kept repeating to each other and "Grandma's estate sale".). While the host was polite and informative, the environment / decor was so outdated, it was hard to get past or ignore. I spent half the day working to force myself to not feel uncomfortable here; I should feel good about the stay - not spend considerable vacation time talking myself into not feeling grossed out by it. * Cost of stay: Considering this was the most expensive option in the area, I expected more / better. Besides the overall decor, our bath towels had bleach stains on them. And be sure to bring your own bath supplies. The ones provided that are boasted about on the website.....looks like they bought Dollar store products, stuck old-fashioned-looking labels on and have refilled over and over. I did not feel comfortable using them at all. Summary: * Nice hosts. Great view. That's it. * Would I stay again or recommend to others: Hard no. You think it's obvious to want an ocean view but I'd easily pass on the view for a more comfortable place to stay. We actually left a day early. Could be good if recommendations here and in other reviews are taken and implemented. Relying solely on "the view" isn't cutting it.

I stayed here with my husband and our 2-month-old baby. While we checked out of our room at 11am, it was storming outside, so we took a seat in the lounge to wait out the weather for a short period of time and feed the baby. Within minutes, the innkeeper, Roger, came over to tell us, rather coldly, that "the reservation ended at 11." Despite being fully out of the room and sitting quietly in a shared space (where there was no one else, as the inn wasn't even full), we were asked to leave. His tone was passive-aggressive -- particularly unkind given the circumstances. That was one of a few negative interactions we had with him. In all our travels, we've never experienced such a lack of hospitality -- especially from a place that charges over $300 a night. Most properties are more than accommodating when guests are briefly using common areas after checkout, especially with a baby and during bad weather. After our stay, we noticed some other online reviews describing similarly negative interactions with Roger, scattered among the glowing 5-star ones. Sadly, that interaction left a lasting negative impression. As a result, we won't be returning and can't recommend this BnB to others who value genuine hospitality. It's a real shame, considering the views and location.
