There were eight other people in my party who ordered more complex dishes, and they all received their meals before I did. I ended up waiting about 30 minutes just to get my pancakes, and then another 30 minutes before the rest of my food came out. The restaurant wasn't busy and there seemed to be plenty of staff, so I'm not sure what caused the delay. Our server was quite inattentive throughout the experience. However, I do want to give credit to a young man who stepped in to help, his effort didn't go unnoticed and was appreciated. This wasn't my first time here, and I've heard great things about this place, which makes the experience even more disappointing. I'm unsure if I'll return, but I'm open to the possibility that this may have just been an off day. On a positive note, the restaurant was clean and it's a nice space for gatherings.

The restaurant presents itself as very well maintained, with a neat exterior and interior. Dedicated parking lot behind the restaurant and on the street make for easy access. This family run restaurant is very much kickback and relaxing environment while you have some coffee. The one thing I must emphasize here is that you must not be in any hurry! Once you get past any time constraints, the food will be worth the wait. We came in and it was a solid 30 minutes before food came to the table, but in the meantime, we were provided beverages and had some time do little people watching and catch up with one another. I ordered the breakfast scramble. I have to say that the scrambled eggs that came along with this were by far the best I've ever had in my entire life! I definitely think there was a little butter in there and they were super fluffy and light. Waffles, fried chicken, eggs, sandwiches of all sorts, all cooked to order fresh. The staff was very friendly and helpful, although there was a little follow up required from time to time. I would love to come back here in the evening and try some of the menu that was offered for dinner because it just looked fantastic. Meal prices were offered in a range of how big you wanted to go! You could definitely get by with a right size portion meal for a reasonable price. Overall, a pleasant experience, but cannot emphasize : Do not plan to get in and out of here very quickly, especially during peak hours!! This location does not take reservations, but they do offer a full bar, which could make you overlook some other things. Check out J's when you're in the Gary Indiana area. Afterward, drive four minutes and see the childhood home of the Jackson 5.

We went to check out the place for a small snack because my friend's daughter's love their sandwiches. Sip has counter walk up service and then they bring you your food. We tried the blueberry Boba lemonade and split the Ewok sandwich. The Ewok is one of the more tasty sandwiches I've had in a long time. It was amazing and massive. It was very sweet of them to serve the sandwich on two plates and give us an extra side of the pasta salad. The bread was hot and crispy, and the chicken filling was moist, and it was just great. Of course it being named the Ewok might have made me a little partial since I'm a Star Wars fan. The pasta salad was super garlicky, it needed a little bit of salt, but definitely edible. The inside of this place is so adorable with all of the eclectic furniture that it is the perfect spot to go and hang out with a beverage, coffee or a sandwich. No complaints.

I almost wanted to slam them down during the drive home, but I ended up being patient and waiting. The Pineapple pastry was pretty good, but I think it would have been better with more filling. The Vainilla pastry was soft and flavorful. I enjoyed it more than the Pineapple pastry. The service was good. The employee checked me out fast. Overall, it was a cool spot to try out. I might go again if I'm in the area. Date of visit: 03-Dec-2024
