I work full time and I can't just take off for a body treatment. She called me and spoke with me and confirmed the appointment for that Saturday. It was confirmed. I show up exactly at our agreed time on the Saturday we agreed upon. The salon is locked. It is 97 degrees outside and the sun is blazing on me. I wait in the sun for 10 minutes before I give up and call the salon to leave a message about my appointment. I had childcare that day so I could get my skin some much needed attention. It was all paid for. Then I get a call from Hanna. She started telling me how she called and left multiple messages and texts informing me she had cancelled. I told her I've got nothing from her. Then she tells me how I never confirmed my appointment. I remind her that she personally spoke with me on the phone to confirm it. After she is done defending how it's not much of her fault for ruining my Saturday, I lose all my patience and ask her if she had been contacting a wrong number. She realizes that was a possibility. Offers me an alternate day. I had to accept after a 25 minutes argument that she wasn't going to show up and that was a day completely wrecked. It messed with me because spa days are supposed to be relaxing and this woman clearly just didn't get it. She calls me back in a few minutes confirming she had the wrong number all along, a mistake she made noting it down. So why the 5 stars? I got her microdermabrasion facial today. She was AMAZING. She is very talented, but that's not what got her 5 stars. She made me feel like she genuinely made a mistake, she compensated for my childcare expenses with a service and she went above and beyond to make this a great experience for me. During the first five minutes of my visit with Amanda I knew I was in the right place. She is empathetic, patient, kind, and so knowledgable without being pretentious. Amanda took time to listen to my experience and answer all my questions, which is much more than I can say of any dermatologist I have been to. The Luminosity program is designed not just to treat acne, but to educate you about the causes of acne and to help you get it under control for life. There are diet and life style tips that can help speed the recovery process, another thing that no dermatologist ever took time to ask me about. One of my favorite things about this program are the products. It is such a relief to feel like I can just trust what they are giving me and not have to wing it at the drug store, like my dermatologist suggested I do. If they made their own make up line I would buy that too! The list of pore clogging ingredients they give you is a real eye opener, pretty much every liquid foundation has at least one or two if not more. I am back to using bareminerals and am hoping my skin will soon be clear enough that I don't need foundation anymore.
