Joan has a unique ability to develop separate authentic relationships with students and parents through her very genuine approach, straight-forward communication with a principled and effective approach honed by decades of experience. This also includes not shying away from having the difficult conversations not always easily received by children nor parents based on a wealth of experience and conducted with grace. The value of this unique skill can not be overstated and helps pave the way to a sometimes new and very necessary communication cadence within families as our children begin their journey to becoming truly independent adults. Academic Accesses approach is thoughtfully constructed with purposeful nuance in every facet of the work. I particularly love the essay writing team/writing muse/editorial process. It gave me the confidence to not dig into my children's essays which would have resulted in them being MY essays - a situation admissions departments see straight through. With two very different children their final products were radically different and both made me weep providing a different type of opportunity to truly "see" my children in all their glorious blossoming independent ways. Our entire experience was a gratefully received gift that not only resulted in both of our children being admitted ED to their first choice schools (both schools that we as parents recommended, but our kids wanted nothing to do with until they heard that Joan also enthusiastically recommended these schools from her own purview) but quite literally saved our sanity during a process that due to very normally teenage growth cadence is naturally a combative time between parents and children. I will forever be grateful to Joan and her team. I 100% recommend without reservation and would happily talk to anyone at anytime.

Academic Access was the perfect choice to help our daughter successfully chart a course and navigate these deep waters. From the beginning - Joan's familiarity with an enormous range of different schools helped our daughter to discover schools that checked all the boxes of things she wanted in a school, providing her with schools she'd not even considered. Throughout the process, Joan and her team were there every step of the way - providing guidance, instilling confidence, and helping our daughter find just the right unique and interesting essay information to share for a strong application and a positive outcome. The stress that comes with applications was minimized by having experts available whenever she had questions or needed help. The most valuable part (to me as a parent), was that the experts were also able to guide her without sounding like a "critical parent", thus keeping peace in our home throughout the process. Joan and her team kept our daughter on track with application deadlines, while keeping stress levels at a very comfortable level, and our daughter was accepted and now attends one of her top two choices. Since our experience with Academic Access, I have recommended Joan to at least 7 or 8 friends (I've lost count!) whose students have all had similar experiences with great outcomes! Thanks Joan! Working with you was one of the best decisions we've ever made.

I am embarrassed to say that I genuinely had no idea. For us, the college process was confusing, disappointing, and frustrating. One four-year college experience was very successful - the one my daughter least anticipated it to be. The other was a massive disappointment for me as a parent, although my daughter doesn't express the same sentiment. She doesn't say anything, pro or con. If only I knew then what I know today! CollegeThoughts would have been an enormous help to us, providing structure, goal identification, and the process to attain these goals, including essential study skills. There is nothing CollegeThoughts has not addressed in their various programs, from help with the applications, interviews, and college essays to diving deep into helping your child frame a perfect future and guiding them to get there. Their programs are tailored to each student, and pricing is affordable and a la carte. If you are wondering, start the discussion early, pick up the phone and call them, check the student testimonials on their website, or take the College Success Quiz on their homepage. That way, you will understand what I mean and help your child with success for a lifetime. Good luck.

Their commitment to her success can't be underestimated because if you have a child who doesn't like school and has a mood disorder you know how difficult it can be to get them to school on a daily basis. They were able to tailor a program that worked with our needs and her capabilities and I will be forever grateful for what they have done for her. We tried a variety of schools for challenged students and in the end this was the best fit we could have asked for. Definitely worth a look if your student is struggling.

While the most intense part of the counseling happened during the later part of her junior year and into the beginning of her senior year, Rona and her team provided thoughtful, structured guidance throughout the entire process. They advised my child on how to best use her time for each of her summer breaks for different purposes, from exploring what interested her during freshman summer to participating in research program following her junior year which greatly strengthened her application. My child worked with a career counselor of the team to explore career interests. Rona and other members of her team advised my child on course selections for each academic year, formulation of different essay topics, and later the intense process of essay development during which Rona and a writing coach provided multiple rounds of edits for my child. The team was knowledgeable about the college admissions landscape. They helped our child stay on track and build her confidence and independence during what could have been a stressful process. What stood out most was how they focused on my child as a unique individual and guided her accordingly. Oriel Admissions helped my child present her authentic self in the strongest possible way and we believe their guidance played a pivotal role in my child's successful early decision admission into Smith College. We are grateful for their guidance and would highly recommend them to any family navigating the college admissions journey.

One of the things we valued most was the hands-on support with his writing. Rona and Katie worked with him in live sessions on his essays, helping him find his voice and shape his ideas into something authentic and compelling. That kind of in-the-moment coaching as well as the written feedback that he received was extremely meaningful and it pushed him to produce his strongest work. Beyond the writing, Rona and Katie suggested colleges that aligned with his interests and goals, helped him tell a clear story through his activities, and brought out his strengths and unique qualities in his writing. Their guidance was always rooted in what was right for him specifically, and that made all the difference in how his applications came together. In the end, he was accepted to the University of Miami, his top choice college, and we couldn't be happier.

Through testing, interviews, and a good bit of "soul searching," she helped me make a sound decision, identify alternate career paths, and find a graduate program that could help me pursue new opportunities. Over the years since, Dr. Levine has provided me with meaningful professional and personal coaching and support, through completing a master's degree program, negotiating raises and promotions, two job changes, and significant personal traumas. I recommend Dr. Levine to anyone seeking assistance in a career or educational change.
