My child has attended both the pre-school program and the summer camp. He (we) love Kids on 12th. There is a great mix of staff: male and female, laid back and more structured, musical, artsy, athletic. Every child can find a mentor that suits their style.
The school curriculum stresses real-world experiences. If they are working on scientific principles, they whip out a microscope. They use technology is cool ways such as Skyping with students who travel to foreign lands. When autumn hits, they travel to local parks and gather the fallen leaves, then back to the school to read books about the changing seasons. I love how the lessons they learn all year tie into what they see happening around them. Of course they also work on learning letters, numbers, weather concepts, etc. Don't be surprised if they take an "urban hike" to find instances of the week's letter out in the world!
The camp is a beehive of activities and outings. Swimming, playground visits and a few field trips will keep your child busy and exercised all summer. The air conditioned home base of the Ko12 facility is also utilized for breaks. My child never complained of being too hot or overworked. Staff is diligent about water breaks and applying sunscreen to every child. The staff is energetic and committed to encouraging physical activity and social growth.
An important benefit to attending Ko12 is they can accommodate almost any schedule. Half days, full days, after care til 6pm and "camps" for elementary school aged kids to attend during public school holidays. No more child care dilemmas over Christmas Break! read more
