Derek has been patient and gone to great lengths to help with tuning advice as well as finding some custom parts. I'll be posting pictures of the finished project soon, and will say I couldn't have done it without Derek's knowledge and expertise. I highly recommend him as source of advice, knowledge encouragement and parts supply!

Disclaimer: I am a complete newb to motorcycles and have not actually used any other motorcycle…read morerepair people other than Derek my whole life. That said, despite the above disclaimer, I am nonetheless a fairly difficult customer to impress. My husband and I are control freaks and perfectionists, though goodness knows we WANT to get excited about finding good services. When we brought ourselves and our dual-sports (WR250X/R) to Derek, based on YELP reviews, I quickly got the impression that 1) he was competent and a perfectionist and 2) he'd not worked on our particular bike before. But the latter didn't really phase him. He took my emails with links to online articles in stride and showed us complete respect despite our lack of experience, and at every stage of the way has made us happy with his attitude and his results. He may sometimes question our judgement when we make a request, but he does it for the right reasons, and in the end he'll still humor us if we get stubborn. So far all our adjustments and repairs have made us very happy, and I've no complaint about the cost of his service (though given the above disclaimer, I may just be too clueless to know if he's ripping us off, heh...wait, I didn't just say that). We'll be going back to him for all our future motorcycle repair/mod needs. Knowing that we're done with the search for a good mechanic is a weight off my shoulders. (Regarding the 1* review...am I Derek's friend? Err, probably not. Not that I think he'd be a bad friend, but, um, I'm just a customer.)

It is now been three hours and I've just been told that the rivet gun that they needed to use has broke. They also didn't even start looking at my bike until 10 o'clock. I was told that the wrench mechanic that was supposed to work on. It showed up late this morning. I haven't been offered a soft drink or a cup of coffee. This has been my worst experience yet with a service repair on a motorcycle in my 64 years of life. I used to sing the praises of this place but today they have failed me miserably. So now I don't know when the bike is going to be repaired. And now I'm waiting for my wife to make the 10 miles trek here to pick me up. Top it all off they don't even know if this is going to fix the issue with my motorcycle!

Desperate to get back on the road, I called Cycle Tech and spoke to a friendly and helpful guy named Stan. Stan assured me he'd have Ben (the owner) call me right back, which he did. After giving Ben the details of my predicament, he told me he'd send someone over with a trailer to pick me and the motorcycle up. A short while later another friendly and helpful guy, Lucas, called to tell me he was on his way. Lucas loaded the bike on the trailer and hauled it 16 miles to their shop. Ben and Lucas worked together to make the repair and get me back on the road in short order. These guys bent over backwards to help me out of a tough situation. My dad is a longtime Harley owner and I buy him shirts from each state and country I visit. We were driving through from Texas to MN, so this was a great place to take a break. They had a huge selection of shirts and their store logo is pretty cool with the barn and silos. They had a several items on clearance, and being a Harley store, you know apparel will be a bit pricey. If in the area, and into Harley's, I recommend it!

On top of that, they did a great job--clean, neat, and done right. You can also tell Travis is genuinely passionate about ATVs and motorcycles, not just running a business. As he puts it, "I've been doing this all my life, and I'm not planning on stopping now." You really can't go wrong with someone who loves what they do. Travis and his crew were friendly, professional, and great to work with throughout the whole process. Last but not least--come hungry if you're there around lunch or dinner. Apparently they're not just great mechanics, they can cook too. The fried catfish was immaculate. Honestly, they should open a restaurant in the back--I even heard deer might be on the menu next lol.
