They were very friendly and accommodating. I expected that I would have been given an estimate that was equivalent to the prior jeweler (I assumed he was being HONEST with me). They took one look at the bracelet and said it would cost $35 and they would only need two days. The repair was pretty extensive; the clasp and the link were worn and needed to be seemed and rebuilt structurally. That price brought a huge smile to my face. I was so happy there are some honest people still out there, that was so reassuring, (Obviously. I was pretty upset with the prior Jewler, he simply was stealing my money). The repair was amazing and showed a high level of skill and craftsmanship. It literally looked brand new. Obviously, don't waste your time and money with any other jewelers. Three people looked at the rings and quoted me $150, and said I could wait until June as it would only take a week. In June, I brought them back and they said, sure, no problem. I got a call later that day saying, they "didn't realize" the rings were platinum and that it would actually be $300. I went back in and said since it was their error that they should honor the price. They were very defensive, saying, well mistakes happen. This is literally their job to know jewelry. Three people saw them and not one thought it might be platinum? The taller man with the glasses said they can't be expected to do it for $150, they would lose money, but they had someone else who could do it for that amount. Ok, fine. Three weeks later, ON MY WEDDING DAY, literally hours after my husband put it on my finger, my wedding band splits in 2. I was devastated. I brought it back the next day, and instead of being apologetic, the same tall man said defensively, well your ring is thin. Seriously??! It's a standard, normal wedding band. He took it and said, I'll have it by Thursday. Again, no real apology by anyone, including the woman or the owner, who were both there. It's appalling. Today is Friday and still no ring. These people do not know what they're doing, and worse, they are plain rude. Stay away if you value your jewelry. UPDATE: The other ring, my custom platinum engagement ring, also broke in half. I will be attempting to collect the money I paid initially, as they have ruined both my wedding band and ring within 2 months. I'm heartbroken.

I had a brief stay in Fairfield and had to check out their local record shop. It was way better…read morethan expected, like a little slice of New York City cool hidden in beachy Connecticut town. The shop is on the main strip (Post St.) across the street from Hemlock Hardware. It's kind of hard to see if you're just driving by (it's behind a sports trading-cards shop) but well worth finding, because it's the kind of record store that is loaded with both new vinyl and rare, well-selected older vinyl. The records span many genres and the shop's owners have excellent taste and knowledge while also being gracious and fun to talk to. I noticed they host listening parties for new releases, making the store a hub for local music aficionados. I wasn't in Fairfield long but consider Vinyl Street Co. to be a real "hidden gem" that I highly recommend you check out if you're in the area. (After that, be sure to stop in to Fairfield's top-notch public library down the street.)

So, very knowledgeable, honest, and quick! It only took ten minutes for him to repair it. The other jeweler sent my ring to get resized and it took a week to get it back! A week vs ten minutes is a no brainer. AND he gave me a six month guarantee. I would definitely go here again over a large jewelry shop.
