A little disappointed in my experience at MVP. Went in for a haircut for a professional event. I had a good conversation with the barber to communicate what I wanted, and I showed him the desired length I was looking for. He seemed to understand and agreed with the vision. Unfortunately, he proceeded to cut my hair significantly shorter than we talked about (I asked for one inch off, they cut about 3 inches off). He also gave me a skin fade when I asked for a 2 on the sides. It was disappointing to have this happen when we talked about expectations in the beginning. More dialogue about expectations may be warranted for future patrons! The one saving grace was that the haircut was a good haircut in that the fade was pretty clean. I made a Yelp account just to leave this review. I grew my hair out over covid and it was down to my shoulders, wanted to get it cleaned up. Explained what I wanted with the barber, (Undercut with some hair on the side)- didn't want it so short but it looked good so whatever. When shown the back of my head with the mirror I was only shown the side of my head, didn't think about it too much until I got home. My girlfriend immediately noticed the back of my head. Most uneven haircut I've gotten in my life. I would say don't go here if you have long hair, but the guy was using a razor the whole time, so it'd probably be bad to get a shorter cut too. read more

I used to work in jp and one day needed haircut bad so I went in and was very satisfied with my hair cut. Jose is the man to go to. Been going to him for 9 years, since there old location. I got hair cuts for my birthdays, my wedding and all important events. When I go to Jose he just cuts my hair I don't even tell him how I want it bc he remembers. Love this place. They started out with low prices and have steadily increased to 25$ for a man's haircut. Normally I would feel this was pricey for these kinds of cuts. However, they have won me over. I use the same Barber everytime. He always takes his time and does a great job. If your into having the same style hair cut with no mistakes (my girlfriend went to school for this and she checks) this is the number one spot in JP. Be aware that English is not their primary language (Spanish) . This is easily overcome with the few words they know or Google Translate. ;) read more

They have moved right up the street to 660 Centre Street. I typically use Yelp to read reviews and have never written any myself, but my experience with Bernardo at MVP was so fantastic that I felt compelled to share. I have been going to another barber shop in JP for years, but recently haven't been satisfied with the attention I was being given. I decided to try MVP. I arrived right when they opened at 9:00am. There were no other customers in the shop. Perhaps this is partially the reason Bernardo was so attentive, but my feeling was that I would receive the same treatment even if it had been busy. I communicated what I like. He acknowledged and off we went. Along the way, he made a few minor suggestions, which I took him up on. End result: a super neat and clean haircut and shave (straight edge for those of you who appreciate a real shave). Haven't been this satisfied with a cut in quite some time. Needless to say, I'll be back. Highly recommend giving Bernardo a visit. read more

This is a tough one to rate. José gave me one of my best haircuts in years: precise, thorough, careful. But the shop was filthy, like it wasn't swept in weeks, and probably no wipe down in years. His fellow barber was reclined horizontally on his chair, with his feet up on the adjacent chair, watching videos on his phone, one of which was porn. I hope José isn't the owner, because I wouldn't tolerate that for a second. I probably should deduct an additional star considering that just a *little* effort at cleanliness and professionalism could make a huge difference. But it was also the cheapest haircut I've ever received in Boston, and for that I guess I'd be willing to trade atmosphere for a good cut. But considering the skill of José's cut, there should be a line out the door at this price. As it was, the shop was empty, save for a friend who stopped by to chat. Off to take a shower. read more

It started off all and well, i had some pictures of me with a haircut i liked so i showed them to the barber. He was nice enough, however I immediately started seeing red flags. He loped off the hair from the side of my head so far up that if he did it to the other side i would have a Mohawk (maybe one day). I let him work and blend it in and i ended up stopping the haircut after he trimmed my bangs so completely jacked up that i knew i would need to go somewhere else and salvage my hair. I slick my hair back, short on the sides. The barber cut my bangs to the point where it pops straight up on one side of my head. The barber was kind enough to not charge me so left and went to Sal's across the street, they fixed it as best as they could and i walked out for $10. read more

This Babers are trash, and they give trash hair cut. Don't waist your money there, every time I go there I give them direction on how I want my hair, they always fucking it up. The other day I went there and asked for a fade on the side, the Baber give me a bold side cut instead. the whole time he rushed because he had another costumer that he knew waiting for him. Didn't even use alcohol after he was done, then he charged me 20$. I simple payed and I left, never going back again. They work as if they are forced to cut hair or doing it for free. I don't even like to write review but I made a yelp account just to let people know how trash and garbage of a Baber shop they are. read more
