I am extremely grateful for this place. I have taken my dog here a few times now for daycares and boardings. He always comes back super tired and worn out from playing. I love that the staff sends out report cards for overnight boardings and details things like energy, mini training sessions, and eating habits. We found Mutty Paws in the first year of business and all of our love it. All of their employees are so knowledgeable, professional, and really care for their clients. We have tried kennels throughout the Northeast from Maine to Rhode Island and are very particular about cleanliness staff and dog/trainer ratios. This kennel is by far the best. We feel safe, leaving our dogs there because we know they will alert us if anything is off with our dog or he gets sick. We had a 12 year-old labrador who absolutely loved everyone there. He got ill one night (age related) when we were away and they even took him to our doctor so he would feel comfortable. We've had multiple dogs who have the best experience there. I have never had any serious issues at all. When my dog first went there he was a HANDFUL but thru there AP clash has learned so much and he is 100 % better for it. Wonderful staff' each and every one of them and they are extremely accommodating. If I have a problem many times it has been solved by a phone call to either take him on another day or keep him a bit later due to a schedule change. Mutty Paws does NOT have group daycare for small dogs, if your dog is truly small. My chihuahuas attended daycare where I lived previously for 10 years with no problems and mixed well with those dogs. The supposed eval involved an environment where my dog could hear much larger dogs and so on. Not surprisingly, she ran and hid. When I called and discussed with them, they should not have represented that they do have this. They don't. I am sorry I subjected my dog to this experience. I also found the evaluator brusque and defensive. No wonder my dog wouldn't let her pick her up again. We had a good experience with grooming and my dogs liked the groomer. But I may find a different resource after this. read more

We continue to use Mutty Paws for a weekly day out for our dog. He loves to go and run around with his doggy friends, and is always happy when we pull into the MP driveway! The staff is super friendly and skilled with dog love. They create real relationships with the dogs, which is plain to see when the dogs are dropped off in the morning. We also use Mutty Paws for overnight boarding when we are out of town. Our dog always comes home rested and happy. They also keep us posted with a daily "report card" and are honest with things like a decreased appetite etc...which we really appreciate. I was amazingly surprised and delighted. I made an appointment for both of my pups to be groomed. At drop off I was told it would be about 2 hours. I received a call 30 minutes later that my 2 golden retrievers we're ready for pickup. I tHought no way, they couldn't have been groomed and bathed!!! I was so bummed as I drove back. When I received my dogs they were not only bathed, but amazingly well brushed!!! To top it all off, my dogs were happy to be there, they usually never leave my side!! We took our fur child to Mutty Paws on our way to a wedding in central Maine. Wow! I was super impressed with the facility and the care that went into designing the place. It's clear that they did a lot of research on dog health care and behavioral training. State of the art air filtration? Check. Enzyme spray for dog pee? Check. Six flat screen TVs for watching your dog play with others when you walk in the door? Check. Extensive evaluation to match your pup with others who will play well together? CHECK! I took my dog to the old location for years. I was very thankful for Mutty Paws's service, because Juno is well, special. She was attacked a few years ago and now has issues with other dogs. Rather than turning her away at the door or risking potential injury to other dogs, they modified their care to her needs by doing solo boarding. They would walk her independently and even tried socializing her with their own dogs to help her overcome her issues. This is a service that I have been unable to find anywhere else. Unfortunately for me (but probably fortunately for all of you), they are unable to accommodate her needs at their new facility in Scarborough. I still recommend them to every person I meet, including my sister who just lived up here and now uses them all the time. I am currently in tears because we've lost a really good service, but I am so thankful that they accommodated us for so many years. read more

I heard rave reviews and negative talk as well about this facility. So... as a dog owner/lover I search for great places for Dexter(my dog) to go and have fun. I took him here for some puppy play- I was impressed by Chris the owner and his facility! The interviewing process was refreshing and put me at ease with him as a dog lover an the facility. Unfortunately. ... After a few day care visits I was beging to feel unsure of Chris' s staff- though they may be dog lovers they didn't seam to be very knowledgeable of dog behaviors and or have training/handling experiance.. after listening to them with other client who where picking up their pups and their answers to my questions...It just left me unsure of the facilities qualifications to handle issues if they came up with out Chris there to supervise. Then sure enough... after a few more trips Dexter came down their stairs for pick up with a limp caused by a dog bite on his back left leg- (discovered after bring him home -)which was not reported to me upon pick up by the staff.-I was told he "played hard today"- when asked why he was limping, and slow moving. Nothing serious but enough to cause a lip and soreness .... But this neglegence and oversite made me uncomfortable enough with the staffs handling of dogs and honesty to their owners not to return. Just my experiance shared- Im sure Chris is more than qualified and even has a few great people on staff- but its just the rest of them I would worry about! read more

We've been clients since they opened. We knew Kris when he worked at a previous dog day care. Our older dog is a bit of a loner and prefers his space over the company of other dogs and can be a grump. While he doesn't go to "school" often anymore, when he does, we know he gets to hangout with the other seniors and office staff away from the bouncy youngsters. The real treat for us... Sending our younger dog. She has been going since she was 5 months old, she's a few months shy of her. 2nd b-day at this time. She is a Friday regular and it helps us after a long work week to pick up a crazy pup who is tired out from playing with doggie friends the way that only other dogs can tire each other out. Unlike some other businesses, Kris has chosen to keep his daily numbers in a safe staff to dog ratio at the expense of turning business away to keep the groups at levels that are manageable. When they were under construction custom wood kennels were built instead of wire kennels. This gives the pups some "space" and also protects them from injury. They also made cots at that time as well. The play yard has river rock which is smooth for dog feet and even a fenced in sand box. They have ramps and platforms and pools to keep the dogs stimulated and happy. read more

I was recommended to Mutty Paws by Julie and Mike of Dancing with Dogs almost two years ago. Chris, Sophie and Amy and the rest of the staff are welcoming and caring to our dog and the dogs in general. They provide a clean, fun place for the dogs to play and enjoy. Pictures are posted whIch are always fun to look through. No matter is too small to be discussed and my calls are always promptly returned. Our dog comes home to have his dinner and falls fast asleep from a good day's play. Our dog has also been boarded there and this too was a positive experience as well. I've read over the reviews here and I've got to say that we, as dog owners, have a responsibility to our extended family members to ensure they receive the quality of care they deserve. With that being said, I believe that Mutty Paws fits the bill as far as a doggy day care center. Just like children, our dogs are going to catch the nasties from their play mates. WE owe it to the dog to ensure they are receiving their annual shots. I hope Mutty Paws is verifying with each owner that their dogs' shots are up to date, including kennel cough. It's not their fault if a dog contracts an illness. It is up to us to be aware of sudden changes in our pet's health. My dog also caught Giardia and had a bad cough last year. He is rarely, if ever, in contact with other dogs. But who are we to accuse the owner of causing our dog's illnesses? We need to act responsibly. Dogs can pick up parasites from the sidewalk and their never ending sniffing, licking, lapping, etc. WE need to watch them. By the same token, the day care facility owes it to us to alert us to any concerns. I for one called Kris immediately and told him each time that my dog was sick. I also kept my dog away from day care for a few weeks until the vet gave him the "all clear". Kennel cough can happen. Our dogs are in enclosed areas where they are quite susceptible to catching it. Act accordingly. It's horrible and tears your heart apart every time they cough. I know. I've been there. Get them to the vet and away from day care for awhile. Away from all dogs for that matter. Have you ever seen someone walking their dog while they are on the phone or texting? That is not being responsible. You need to be aware of what they are doing on the leash and off. I believe in my heart that the staff here are very much aware of what is going on with our dogs and do the best they can to pair them up according to the social skills, adaptability, energy levels and ages of the dogs. If you know your dog is not acting like themselves or if your dog is aggressive with other dogs, then silly you for bringing them to day care. You are endangering the health and welfare of not only the other animals but the staff of the facility. I have seen Kris speaking with dog owners and handling sticky situations in the lobby. He is nothing but professional. His staff are very courteous. I have been upset when my dog was ill, but the bottom line is that we all just need to deal with it and quit placing blame on the people who are providing a safe and fun place for our dogs to play. They are providing a daycare for our pet that is also giving us peace of mind and removing whatever guilt we may have for leaving them home alone when we have to work. I have been bring my 2 year old Woodle (Wheaten Terrier & Poodle mix) to Mutty Paws Acadamy for 1 year and although the place is clean and is convenient I am beyond concerned with the lack of communication with the owners and some staff however my biggest concern is when I have contacted both owners by phone multiple times (6 Times to each of them) and leaving voicemails for each of them that I would appreciate a call back when they received the message and never got nothing from either and then when I dropped my dog off I asked the GM ( Courtney ) if she would please let either of the owners know that I have been trying to get in touch with them and I have left multiple messages for each of them she assured me that she would do that and she also said to me that it would be easier if I emailed them so with her suggestion I sent multiple emails to both owners not to receive anything back once again, I continued to let the GM know I have not heard back from either and her response was they are very busy but should get back to me however this is know over a month since the first voicemail left and I honestly can not imagine not getting back to a patron that brings their dog to your place of business, after approximately two months I received a phone call from the owner Chris at that point I explained to him what I have left them a message for and was hoping that he could help in this particular situation he is shored me that he would help and let me know that things would be in place by the following week the following week came and nothing was in place the week followed and nothing was ever in place either so after the date had passed I called and left a message to him letting him know how incredibly disappointed I was at the fact we had a conversation after two months of leaving messages and him finally calling me back and telling me that he gave me his word that he would follow through this particular situation and never did it was then I went to their Facebook page and gave them a rate in review following the rate and review I got a call from the GM questioning me why I would not recommend this facility to anyone and why do I still have my dog there if I would not recommend this facility she was quite hostile on the phone and I explain to her that I will continue keeping my dog there because the staff out back seems to do OK right now with what my needs are but I probably will be looking to put my dog somewhere else in the future and she was again very sarcastic on the phone and then about a week following that phone call I got an email on a Sunday night from one of the owners asking if we could speak before 8 o'clock on that night it's very puzzling to me that this is a man that did not have the time to call me in two months that I've left multiple voicemail messages and multiple emails but because I went public with how disappointed and frustrated I was now all of a sudden I feel like they're coming to our rescue because they don't want that bad publicity I am a small business owner and if you don't want bad publicity then you need to treat your clients with the absolute respect and follow up with them no matter what the situation is in a timely fashion and respect them the way that you want to be respected and not threaten and swear at them. My dog has since been enrolled to Camp Bow Wow and the facility is fantastic, the staff is wonderful, the prices are much cheaper, you don't have to sign up for a certain amount of days and you can go on your smart phone, computer, iPad, tablet and watch your dog on live cam. read more

We love Mutty Paws! Our miniature Shar Pei has been going to Mutty Paws since he was about 9-10 weeks old and I can say without hesitation that the full-day socialization with other puppies has helped make him a more well-rounded dog. Shar Peis can have a difficult temperament but bringing him in 2-3 days a week has really helped him be well-adjusted and know how to interact with any breed and age of dog. Staff has always been super helpful with us, and willing to work with our schedules if we need to move days around during the week, which has been really nice when we need a little flexibility. Plus they have always been willing to answer any questions we have, and give us little reports on his behavior at the end of the day when we pick him up. Another big benefit is the "day" runs from 8am-5pm, but we have the option of dropping our pup off early if our day looks hectic, at no extra charge. Bonus: they now offer a puppy play group on Sunday mornings that is free, and a full hour of play with other dogs both inside and outdoors. We have been to Planet Dog for playgroups and at times feel like we are waiting to let our pup play most of the hour, which can be aggravating for not only our puppy but also us! This play group is all-in, which is less stressful for everyone. Our pup is now just over 18 weeks and will be transitioning to the "adult" group in the next couple of weeks. We look forward to continuing his socialization as he grows out of the puppy group. Additionally, with a couple trips being planned this spring/summer we can say with confidence we would also trust Mutty Paws with boarding our pup if we need it. read more

The staff members that I met over 2 years were really nice and my Dog enjoyed going to Mutty Paws however, unfortunately a repetitive health issue occurred at the end of 2014. Unfortunately, the last 5 times we brought our 15 year old dog to Mutty Paws he contracted Kennel cough and Giardia 3 times which made him very, very, very sick. Our dog was not exposed to any other dogs other than the ones he played with at Mutty Paws so it definitely came from the facility. The last time he contracted Kennel cough and Giardia we simply brought him to be groomed. He did not go to daycare. He was just groomed and briefly put in a cage until I arrived. He was so sick with both Kennel cough and Giardia again and due to his age of 15 we almost lost him because he was so ill. We called Mutty Paws to have the owner Chris (Sp?) To call us about our concerns and to discuss paying for the Veterinarian bills.. She or he (not sure) never returned our call and neither did anyone else at the facility. This caused a RED FLAG and was cause for concern. We felt that Chris should at least call us to discuss the issue vs. Ignoring us after being clients for over 2 years. We also felt that She/He should make it known to other pet owners going there that Kennel cough and Giardia was reported and address the unclean issues at the facility and improve there cleanliness protocol. We no longer bring our dog to Mutty Paws and wanted other pet owners to know what happened to our dog so you can all know the risks of leaving your dog at Mutty Paws. There were other posts on Yelp about the same issues thst I am reporting however, they disappeared from the Yelp site which I feel is another Red Flag. I would not recommend this facility. read more

They interview the owners and dogs to figure out which group they should play in. they work out the behavioral goals with owners and do behavioral training. I have total trust in this place. I have been overseas many times and I know I can leave my dog, Lily, there and know they will treat her right. I will leave her there for 10 days at a time sometimes. When they ask me if there was an issue who should they contact. I said no one. I feel they love my dog more than my relatives. They will make the best decision for Lily's wellness. When I get a vacation I also feel Lily gets a vacation too at Mutty Paws. I don't have to worry about Lily so I can enjoy my vacation. My dog at one point had seemed to be getting aggressive at home. After a stay at Mutty Paws I noticed her behavior had changed for the better. I will head to New York City June 22 this month. I will have Lily go to Mutty Paws again. Highly recommended. I trust the owner and employees of Mutty Paws with my dog. read more

We have use Mutty Paws for dog sitting (overnight) multiple times. Our dog Tyson loved his experience and we did too. The owner Christina is very professional, and receptive to any concerns or needs owners might have. She relates to pets in a very calm and assertive manner (yes, I'm referencing the dog whisperer here). Her confidence dealing with all different kinds of dogs and her training experience makes her a great choice dog sitter. When we leave Tyson with Mutty Paws we get update photos while on vacation. Our dog comes home tired and happy. We never have to worry that he's been spoiled rotten either (some sitters will overfeed and let the dog do things it's not normally allowed to do--pull on walks, sleep on furniture, etc) which can confuse the dog. We filled out a questionnaire beforehand letting her know Tyson's routine, and she works with his needs. We are very happy with the service. read more

My only complaint is price. I would take my dog more often if I could afford it. I have found another day care closer to work that is considerably cheaper but clearly not as well ran as Mutty Paws. I have known Christina for years and have watched her interact with many dogs, from the over excited to the very timid. She takes the time to understand a dog's behavior and works with the owner(s) in training. I have a reactive boxer that cannot go to just any daycare. Christina and staff always make sure that he feels safe, is having a good time and doesn't feel overwhelmed. He always comes home tired and relaxed. The staff at Mutty Paws doesn't just put your dog into a group and hope they all get along, but takes the time to match personalities and play styles. They are constantly observant of the dogs' behavior and do not hesitate to inform you if they think that something needs attention. We had a very negative experience with boarding our dog here over the holidays last year, although I think it's probably fine for daycare. When we picked up our people-loving dog he was literally hoarse from barking - and he is NOT a barker. He was miserable being left in a concrete cell overnight with no human in sight. I was initially very pleased with Mutty Paws. They are conviently located, good hours and seemed to be responsible and health conscious. My 9 month old puppy enjoyed going to daycare. I had him spend an overnight and he came back home with kennel cough. He had been around other dogs at the park and at training, so I did not think much about it, however, I did inform them. After several more daycare visits and no more signs of kennel cough for 3 weeks, I had him boarded for a week. When I picked him up I was told he had a "cough" which they said was probably due to too much exercise and had vomited bile, which they said was due to drinking too much water. These are classic signs of kennel cough, which indeed he had again. My dog has been vaccinated against kennel cough, but there are many strains of the virus. He is responding well to antibiotics and is not too sick, for this I am grateful. I wrote to Mutty Paws to tell them they need to investigate this and do a terminal cleaning and I had no reply. I will not be boarding my puppy there again. read more
