We have been using Muttropolitan for over a year for our rescue Greyhound. Our dog has been described as having a "bad personality," can be reactive, and actually failed his first test walk with a different company, which we didn't know was possible. The Muttropolitan team has taken on our troublesome boy and loves him like one of their own. We absolutely love Britt and the whole Mutt Squad! We have been using their services for our dog, Shady for over 2 years. All staff members are great and genuinely care about the animals they walk/care for. Our walkers even bring in the packages we receive and are willing to water plants/ pick up the mail/ whatever it is you may need them to do while they're taking care of your pet. The fact that our dog tumbles down 3 flights of stairs in 2 seconds whenever the walkers come by tells you how much fun he has on his walks. We have been using Muttropolitan for daily walks for our two dogs (Ellie and Mr. T) for several months, and we could not be more pleased with them! All of the previous reviews are totally accurate and reflect how much Britt and his team love the pets they care for, so I echo all of those sentiments. We have used other dog walkers in the past, but none show the level of professionalism we've seen from the Mutt Squad. For example, if our previous dog walker was unavailable, we'd find out after the fact that her roommate or boyfriend walked the pups. If the thought of untrained, uninsured strangers having access to your house key AND pets is cool with you, go ahead and use one of the other walking agencies in the area. I'm sticking with Britt's fully insured, fully awesome team. It's not often that I come across someone who is as big of a softy for animals as I am, but I think Britt is one of those rare examples. I recently found two very large dogs roaming my neighborhood after hours without tags and was absolutely heartbroken by the very thought of having to take hand them over to one of the shelters. Britt jumped into action, suggesting steps I should take to get the word out and contacting folks he knew at various rescue groups to see if someone could take them in and guarantee them extra time while their owner was located. They have a quick sign up you do online, and quickly schedule an initial visit. During that visit I met Stacy who instantly loved my animals and told me exactly how the visits would go. Britt personally came and met mouse and allowed time while I was there so that mouse could get to know him while I was still there. Britt came highly recommended by another wonderful dog walker who was with us for 5+ years but moved and could no longer service our South Philly neighborhood. We have used Muttropolitan for afternoon walks 2-3 times each week for the last year. We also just got back from a week's vacation during which we used their overnight service each day, plus an afternoon walk. They were wonderful. The dog walkers leave detailed notes in a notebook that you keep at your house. They let you know about every last pee and poop! Our main dog walker, Steph, even takes in our trash and recycling the day after trash pickup! When we were away this week, the person who stayed over (Conley) was responsible and compassionate. He let us know when there was an issue with the washing machine (Eli peed on the bed and Conley washed all the bedding immediately), and he also posted pics to Instagram so that we would know the kids were ok. My first appt. in over a year, has definitively become my last! And the sad part is, it's because of the way things were handled or lack thereof. [Settle in for a story] My holiday plans changed at the last minute and I needed someone to come and look after my cats one day. I was able to use their online calendar to schedule a visit, but heard nothing back from them after a day confirming the appt., so I emailed and called, only to be told that the calendar was closed/booked up, but they would fit me in. Great! From the security cameras, I was alerted that the sitter showed up early which was great, but that's where the "greats" end. I arrived home - thankfully a day early, to realize the cats food bowls were completely empty, the litter box hadn't been cleaned well and what was scooped was left behind instead of taken out when he left. I emailed that night, and when Britt (owner) called to discuss, he was a little less than interested to hear what I had to say. I don't doubt that his employee is typically a stellar sitter, but everyone has their off days. I wasn't able to leave payment before the visit, and wanted to discuss a possible discount during my phone call w/Britt, but after doubting my findings and implying that I was just trying to take advantage and looking to get a free service I realized there was no coming back from this. Criticism is hard to hear, especially when you think you've got a great team. But it does not need to be met with curt responses and rude implications about a person's morality. It was one bad visit, not the end of the world! I'm not sure what happened to this company in the year that I haven't used them. Try not to get on Britt's bad side... it will become extremely unprofessional quickly. Did I mention that without notice he's blocked my account (I was trying to delete it anyway)?! I just want to start by saying WOW! What a great company! I have been using Britt and the folks at Muttropolitan pet sitting ever since I got my dog Rocky, over a year ago (March 2014). I am very particular when it comes to who I let into my apartment and who I let near my dog and the staff at Muttropolitan have been nothing but exceptional. My dog Rocky is a rescue that has gone through a lot and thus-fully is often skittish and aggressive towards anyone he is not already familiar with. I have not had any issues regarding Rockys aggressiveness towards walkers since I started using Muttropolitan. No matter which staff member walks Rocky he seems to behave well and enjoy his walks. I especially like the log the walkers keep and write in every time they walk my dog so I know how he was during the day/his walks and what he did or did not do on his walk. What really means a lot to me is that on days where my pup has been under the weather I have written notes to the walkers regarding things to look out for or specific instructions regarding feedings and/or medication in order to keep an eye on my little guy and his health and in return I get full reports that include responses to any concerns I may have addressed. I live in Rittenhouse area, and hired Muttropolitan in July 2012 to walk my big, unruly dog on a daily basis. The first thing I liked about Britt, the owner, is that he was willing to come and meet with me and my dog, and was very forthcoming with information about himself and his business. When, a few days later, I told him that my (super-security-conscious) husband wanted to meet him too, he was happy to do so and they hit it off. We all felt very comfortable with Britt and felt that we could trust him with access to our house and with our dog. The second thing I liked about Britt is that he was also very accommodating about us meeting the other walker who would be coming. We also loved that walker, and felt very at ease that Britt chooses employees wisely and conducts appropriate background checks. He also is bonded and insured, which is important to us.
