November 25, 2013 To whom it may concern, Please allow this correspondence to serve as my testimonial to the guitar instruction provided by Mr. Taylor Barnett of Rockstar Guitar. My guitar lesson with Mr. Barnett was a result of a Christmas gift from my family, whom fully recognizes and appreciates my affinity for music (especially blues) and my endeavor to teach myself the guitar. As you are aware, much of the information that is required to learn about guitar playing is readily available from many different sources, including but not limited to artist and/or style specific tablature books, instructional videos and, of course, the Internet (YouTube). Notwithstanding the above, there exists a lot of incorrect and/or incomplete, unanswered questions and otherwise misleading information, especially on the Internet. I'm of the opinion that in order fully understand, appreciate, develop and apply your musical abilities you need the guidance and direction from the right guitar teacher. During my initial guitar class, Mr. Barnett provided a brief summary of his guitar qualifications, musical style and related experiences. Subsequently, Mr. Barnett enquired about my experience playing the guitar, guitar style and musical goals. The lesson that followed was a quick assessment of my physical guitar abilities and related understanding of musical theory and concepts in an effort to create a lesson plan tailored specifically to my musical abilities and expectations. I eagerly look forward to my lessons. Mr. Barnett enthusiastically introduces and thoroughly explains new materials, effectively building on prior instruction and discussions. Subject lessons are specifically tailored to correctly and efficiently integrate my musical goals and interests. Under Mr. Barnett's guidance, my musical knowledge, creativity and technique have expanded to the point where we can have a meaningful musical dialog amongst each other with the instrument. These interactions emphasize creativity, spontaneity and my ultimate goal of improvisational interpretation and expression. Listed below are several of the essential qualities I was looking for in a guitar teacher, which I found in Mr. Barnett: * Musical chops (theory, scales and technique); * Ability to create anticipation and excitement for future lessons; * Willingness to listen and answer all of my questions, without making me feel inadequate; * Promotion of musical confidence; * Challenging material; and * Ability to inspire and motivate. Mr. Barnett is great teacher; he is qualified and experienced in his teachings of the instrument. Mr. Barnett has the ability to effectively convey his extensive musical knowledge in accordance with your musical expectations and goals, while still emphasizing the fundamentals in a professional setting. Mr. Barnett is enthusiastic, personable, accommodating and all too willing address questions and concern. Taylor has been teaching our now 12 year old to play guitar for over a year and a half! He is amazing! He is so encouraging to our son and so patient! He is extremely knowledgeable and talented himself, so he uses his talents to help our son learn anything he wants to learn to play. Additionally, Taylor concentrates on the basics of music with our son and the basics of guitar playing. Our son loves Taylor! He cannot wait for his weekly lesson and is always excited before and after seeing Taylor! Taylor always furthers our son's musical development. During each lesson, Taylor works on some basics, further our son's musical knowledge, and also works on specifics. Our son comes home each week with new skills and knowledge! He has taken our son from just beginning to know a few chords on the guitar, to being a skilled player, who writes his own songs with the musical knowledge Taylor has given him!!! And just to add a note, we are both teachers and my husband has been a school district orchestra teacher for 28 years, so coming from a musician and string music teacher, he confirms how completely knowledgeable, patient, caring, easy to work with, and completely awesome Taylor is as a teacher!!!!! We have had Taylor help our high school aged son develop his guitar skills for nearly two years now. We started out with weekly lessons and were very pleased with the progress our son made--he is now a staple in our extended family, providing background music to family dinners and such. He has also used his skills in his job and at various church functions. Taylor has also helped our son perform original work, which has been wonderful to see. We love how flexible Taylor is, and how enjoyable he is to work with. We had compared his pricing with others, and it is very comparable, especially given the willingness he has to work with our schedule. I really credit Taylor with being there for our son during a time in his life when he was trying to figure out who he wanted to be. My son Diego, age 8, has been taking lessons with Taylor for almost a year now. My son is a very rambunctious child and is easily distracted. We did not think he could sit still for a lesson, but Taylor has truly made tremendous progress with our son. He is knowledable and very patient. My son looks forward to his weekly lessons with Taylor and has already learned various cords and plays songs for us on the weekends without sheet music. I can't say enough about Taylor's skills to teach even me. He made my experience so fun and I have to say I enjoyed every part of the sessions with him.
