I reached out to music time to find out about music lessons for my 6 year old. I got an enrollment form to fill online and immediately I was in their system. They offered me a trial class which went great. My son is now enrolled in a piano lesson with Tom and has attended 2 classes already. He absolutely loves it already and shows great interests in learning piano. The enrollment is a breeze and environment very welcoming. read more

Fun and inviting music studio that provides lesson for All types of instruments as well as ages. I could not recommend a better place to take music lessons from. Super friendly as well as knowledgeable. Look no further when looking for a place for yourself or your child. A+++ read more

The two stars go to the teachers. I spoke with Anna, the owner, about having my daughter receive lessons in person. The point was to get my daughter out of the house as much as she was able. She has fibromyalgia and depression which have made her more recluse. Anna only had two options for my daughter to practice her lessons with, both of which my daughter was uncomfortable with. The kill for me was when Anna (The Owner) told me that said daughter only came half the time. I said it was ok. I just want her to try and get out. Anna then proceeded to tell me she was going to send paperwork regarding her attendance to me. I asked her not to. What should it matter if I am paying for the lesson show or no show? One more thing is that I was interested in having my son take lessons. Anna did not want to take our business although I was nice, patient and did nothing wrong. She was looking for trouble when she called. It seems she has more than enough business and if you do go, prepare to wear your armor and bring a sour tongue. read more

My son attends piano classes at Music time and he absolutely enjoys learning music with them. The staff's are friendly and actually go above and beyond expectations to keeps the kids encouraged. My son's piano instructor Nick, took extra efforts to teach my son the song of his preference for one of his performances and made sure he does well. read more

We have been with Music Time Academy for over 7 years and have had nothing but the best experience from every aspect and interaction. Instructors and the staff and professional, welcoming and warm. It feels like a family that cares. We love this place! read more

My child has been taking private lessons for seven years now and just loves his teacher, Nick Davila. He's a fantastic piano and guitar teacher and really knows his stuff. He always takes my child's tastes in music into account and asks what he'd like to learn each time, very student-centric. We couldn't ask for a more patient, kind, and chill instructor! His teaching has really helped him grow musically and also stick with lessons, which he did not want to do before we came to Music Time with some less than great experiences with other teachers who were more rigid and strict in their teaching approach. Music Time has a great selection of music instructors and has always worked with us with schedule changes and special considerations when possible. I'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for music lessons for their children in the area. read more

I have been taking piano lessons from here for a little over a month! It's nice to be able to start a new hobby and be supported by my piano teacher. Everyone is so nice and they are willing to work with you with pursing a new talent! Highly recommend for oneself or if you have children :) read more

Music Time Academy has been a wonderful source of instruction, support and fun for my daughter, who has taken bass guitar and trombone lessons over the past 7 years. The owner, Anna, is easy to work with and so positive in her approach to teaching kids, and their instructors (especially Kristen for the bass guitar) are top notch teachers and people. I would highly recommend Music Time Academy for anyone considering lessons for their children or for themselves. A++++ read more

Music Time Academy is the best! The teachers are amazing. My daughter's piano and guitar teacher, Cory, is really awesome. He's knowledgeable and patient, and invests a lot in teaching my daughter the fundamentals of music. I feel she's learned 5X of what she would have in any other regular school, because of the quality of the instructors here. Music Time also organizes a couple of recitals in a year in the Bothwell Arts Center in Livermore. The shows are organized extremely well, the kids get the experience of performing in bands in front of a large(ish) audience of a couple of 100 people right from early days in their learning journey. Music Time also organizes smaller shows for individual performances. This encourages the students to practice and prepare themselves for a show, accelerating their learning, apart from the amazing experience of performing for an audience. Music Time Academy provides an unparalleled learning experience, we are so lucky to have found this music school! read more

We enrolled my boys in piano lessons earlier this year. My oldest has some special needs but Sal was so patient and good with redirecting him. My younger son (5) also has some issues with focusing and staying on task due to his young age but he's also enjoyed his lessons with Mr. Sal. I found the studio rates to be reasonable, instructors patient and most importantly, this is a caring and safe place to learn music. The other music classes we visited in the area were strict and pressured their students to practice and advance. You won't get that at Music Time Academy where they want their students to enjoy music in a stress free environment. My preschooler also had a lot of fun attending their family music time on Wednesday evenings for babies/toddlers/preschoolers. I have to also add that Mike (the manager) & Anna (the director) were very helpful and flexible when it came to rescheduling lessons and other issues. Overall, we've been very pleased with our experience here! Thank you, Music Time Academy! read more

I was very disappointed. I had an instrument with an issue and this was the first place I thought of. Website says it opens at 1pm. It was 1:10 when I drove by and 1:35 when I called and still no one there. No stars is what I would give it if I could. read more

I teach music and singing lessons for a living and this spot has a great inventory of high quality instruments and staff that knows what they are doing. read more

My daughter has been taking piano lessons from Sal since last October. She had just turned 4 when she started. Let me begin by saying, it is very difficult to find a music instructor willing to teach a 4yo. Sal is so patient with my daughter. He also really loves music, and is influencing his love of music to my daughter. The staff here is also very friendly and easy to work with. They respond to emails very quickly and accommodates to your schedule. Very happy with Music Time. read more

I currently have my two boys enrolled in a music program at another school, (read my reviews) and I thought that I would start looking at another music program when my kids outgrow the one they are in now. Anyway, I ran into this business on Yelp, and have exchanged several emails with the owner/music director (Not sure if that is her even her title) and it's becoming increasingly apparent that they are running a customer centered business. She follows up on questions very promptly, and is polite and informative in every email. That kind of service is not easy to come by these days. Obviously, a music school should be graded on the effectiveness of it's music program, and I have yet to experience that. However, I can say that these guys know how to treat customers, and seem to know their music, so I can be pretty confident that my kids will do just fine in their program. Five stars. read more

Great local spot to learn an instrument. I learned some guitar from Tim. Staff is quite helpful whether it be getting a broken string re-strung, setting up times for lessons, etc. Thank you all much! read more

Growing up I was very involved with musical theater and took voice lessons. After my family moved I lost my lessons and theater group. After about 15 years, I decided it's time to do something that's just for me- a hobby if you will. I love karaoke and singing in the car. It was only natural to find a voice teacher. I started taking voice lessons with Judy a few months ago and she is so awesome! She has given me so many warm ups and things to work on. I look forward to my lesson every week and in between I'm able to practice at home and on my commute to work since we record all of the warm ups. It's easy to see how passionate she is about music, which make it so much more fun to sing with her. Every week we pick a song to work on and she gives really great tips and advice to help improve your skill. It's been such a great experience rejuvenating this passion! The school itself is wonderful to work with. They've made it really easy to schedule make up lessons if needed and are fantastic with communication. I highly recommend Music Time Academy, especially Judy! read more

My daughter has taken music lessons with Nick for the past 3 years. He's been an incredible teacher, really nurturing her love of music and letting her explore different instruments (at various times, she's played piano, ukulele and drums in her lessons). They often talk about songs she likes and figure out how to play them. It's very creative and fun - she loves her lessons! We've been doing virtual lessons throughout COVID and they've been so smooth. My daughter has really looked forward to their time together every week. The whole team at Music Time is organized, kind and devoted to their students. You'll love it here! read more

My Daughter was interested in pursuing her violin lessons after 3 years of previous training. WE found Music Time and read their reviews on Yelp! We were greeted by Monica who not only gave us a 'lay of the land' sort to speak, but she also took time to personalize our experience by ensuring we had to appropriate teacher for my daughter's needs. Phyllis was an AMAZING violin instructor. She was patient, kind, knowledgeable and very reassuring to my daughter. In the couple of months of her attendance, I have seen a wonderful change in her personality. Her 'CAN DO' attitude has been heightened as she is beginning to play simple pieces, of music on her own. I would definitely recommend the school as the instructions as very warm, personable and engaging. PLEASE TRY! read more

I needed a super specific repair job (installing a pretty unique spit valve on a sousaphone.) Adam did an awesome job, without ever having seen this type of valve before! The valve works perfectly, the job was done quickly, and he even cleaned out my valves and slides! read more

Excellent music lessons, my daughter made dramatic improvements playing the violin.

I'm updating my review based on the very professional response I received from the owner. That level of responsiveness is a good indicator of a commitment to customers. Doesn't dilute my previous experiences, but makes me think they may be worth another try should the need come up at some point in the future. read more

We originally started out at Music Time with piano lessons for my son. He learned a lot from Dominic (excellent teacher) and can play pretty well, but my son also plays trumpet and really wanted to hone his skills on that instrument instead. He now trains with Mario at Music Time and his playing has really improved. Mario has taught my son many techniques that have actually made it easier for him to play. Mario shows excitement while teaching and makes each lesson fun, but very informitave. My son likes that he is "laid back, cool, and an awesome trumpet player". He likes it when Mario shows off at the end of a lesson. We have not had any experience with the other instructors at Music Time, but I'm guessing that they are top notch as well. I don't get the impression that they would hire any "schmo" off the street to teach music. read more

I work for a youth non-profit that refers kids to Music Time. The families we have sent there have had RAVE reviews about their experience. Music time Academy is extremely welcoming, inclusive, and community-minded. We love Music Time!!!! read more

My daughter (age 12) really enjoyed her voice lessons with Tim. Her singing has definitely improved over the last 5 months and she is ready for her audition next month. I was very impressed that Tim was so flexible and willing to work with her on specific songs. He made the lessons fun, and she learned a lot too. Tim and many of the other teachers are in bands or otherwise involved in the music business, so they have real, current experience to share. Anna is the office manager ( and an instructor) and is very responsive and accommodating. Their prices are very reasonable. Overall a great experience! read more

We loved our class with Anna at the Music Time Academy. We participated in a parent/child music class for babies/toddlers and had an amazing time. The little ones really enjoyed all of the instruments and songs, and loved to just be free to explore the music/creativity. One of the songs has even become a staple in our house to signal quiet time/help calm the kiddos. We would have loved to take many more music classes here but unfortunately we moved to another area shortly after our class ended. read more

We got my daughter's trumpet serviced and repaired here. They were so quick and very reasonably price. well guys, this is the place in the East bay to learn music. I am 28 and I decided to start the trumpet with almost no music background and in two years I already learn so many fun things. Loved the music lessons here for my toddler. Anna is a great teacher and shows her passion for music to the kids. I liked it much better than MusicTogether because Anna took it to the next level by going over rhythm, beats, and are exposed to different instruments. Good teachers, good people. My sons and I took guitar and piano together for several years until schedules got tricky. We all enjoyed our teachers (who cared a lot), got pretty decent at our respective instruments, and the children's concerts were a lot of fun. read more

As an adult who used to play but sadly saw his hobby get pushed to the sidelines as life crowded in, the decision to try and pick my trumpet back up was an intimidating one and honestly, I had no idea where to start. I was referred to the Music Time Academy by a friend who was (and still is) taking guitar lessons there. I was set up with an instructor and am thrilled with my progress. I have had two instructors and 7 lessons and could not be happier with the results! I would recommend Music Time academy to anyone who is looking to begin their musical journey or wants to sharpen the skills they have been working on already. read more

Thanks for a great class for kids and adults :) read more
