I've been in here a few times for odds and ends; guitar strings, drum sticks, etc. It's always been a pleasant experience and the staff is always helpful. Alexis helped me today and even took the time to show me how to get points from my purchase. I think the thing they have going for them is that the staff are music nerds (as they should be) and they are genuinely pleased to discuss anything music related. It shows in the interactions that I've had with them. As far as I can tell, their prices are similar (and sometimes identical) to online stores like Sweetwater and Guitar Center. Great place to stop in for questions, repairs, products, etc... read more

This was very helpful got exactly what I came for at a great price would absolutely go again for more gear

I tend to really love Music Go Round stores in general anyways, but the Columbus store just hit it out of the park. They sent me a beautiful '81 black Guild D212 12 string and I am completely in love. Much better than they described it - basically in mint condition with the original case. I'm used to dealing with good people whenever I shop at any MGR, and this transaction was no exception. They under sold the guitar and they under promised but boy did they deliver. Fantastic price, excellent guitar with a beautiful sound, and as always after the deal was completed I felt like I had been talking to one of my friends. They are that good! A+ read more

great people, they have got some good gear at great prices and fantastic customer service!

This store totally screwed me over. I bought a tascam multitrack recorder. The record button didn't work, broken on arrival , they wouldn't take a return on it.. Because a two day window had passed.. I returned it to them anyway.. Later they called me up and offered me half of what I paid for the item as a refund... They have the rudest customer service of any music store I have ever deal with in the last 20 years... and I've dealt with a lot of different music shops over the years.. I would say avoid this store read more

Outstanding Ann Arbor shop with hundreds of instruments to choose from. Many of them are pre owned, so the prices are excellent. Very impressed with the staff, they all were interested in my interests and needs. Great place just to hang around with people who love music. read more

Update: Thank you to the owner and manager at Music Go Round for immediately rectifying this situation!! Everything was taken care of respectfully! ^I wish I could give them a zero!! Shady scammers!! Bought an instrument here a couple of years ago for $500 and was told I could sell it back to them. Now they won't buy it back because "they can't verify the brand" weird since they were very confident in the brand when they sold it to me for $500!! How convenient! SHADY!!! read more

This used music store is a great place to shop for a used musical equipment. Unlike the Morse Road location, you might actually be able to find a decent guitar to buy here. I found a few low-end Fender Stratocasters -- which is doing much better than most of the local used music shops. Beware, though, the store has some new accessories for not-so-great prices. Don't be tricked into thinking those are bargains. The selection of PA equipment is especially good. You'll also be surprised by the handful of vintage items around the store. I found it hard to walk out of the store without the hand-cranked record player I saw. Perhaps because of the rotating stock, the store can seem cluttered. It makes for a daunting shopping experience for a first-time visitor. Stick with it, though, and you'll find some good buys. read more

Music Go Round - Musical Instruments & Teachers Near Me - Columbus, Ohio

BEST LOCAL MUSIC SHOP! I'm a young guitar player and this is the go to spot! I'm always welcomed by the great staff! If I had any questions about anything the staff always had a genuine answer! I was buying a guitar rig about a year ago and I wanted to mix and swap the amp heads and amps and the staff with no issues carried and pushed all the amps around just so I (a 15 year old kid) could play on it. They treated me with such respect! When I was purchasing the rig, I was talking to an employee for about 20 minutes and he was so friendly! He was talking about how I had a interesting choice in a head and how his band had a similar setup as I did. These employees give genuine opinions on what's the best and what's ok! I highly recommend any age to come and visit! read more

I had an emergency and needed to get guitar strings. All of the guitar stores close at 7pm. This store says it closes at 8pm. (1/2 stores open later in Columbus) I drove 20 minutes because this was the only store that was "open". I made it at 7:50 and the doors were locked. If they aren't going to stay open until the scheduled time they need to post it so people like me don't rush in an emergency situation and waste valuable time. I could have went to the other store and made it. Highly upset. read more

Do not sell anything here unless you are super desperate. I got 24 dollars for a drum machine. I'm sure they'll sell it for 150. As far as the items for sale.....I would consider buying some. They have all kinds of instruments, even dulcimers. There is plenty of parking and the staff is quick and friendly. read more

There just aren't enough music stores in Columbus in my opinion. The bigger ones are on the north side of town and are hard to get to from the 'burbs. If you are looking for cheap gear or want to pick up something quick, options are limited. Music Go Round does a good job of filling that niche. AS they deal in a lot of used gear, you have to go back and check what they have every month or so. I'm not an expert on most of the gear, but the place is very crowded with gear most of the time. A lot of it looks old and kinda beat up, but I am sure there are some diamonds in the rough. Staff has always been helpful when I have been there. Check it our if you are looking to swap out some gear, if you have your heart set on a new Fender or high end stuff, probably just head to over to Morse Rd. read more

My son dropped his saxophone and broke a part off it one week before he was due to play in a concert. Other local music stores were willing to fix it but wanted to charge me $40+ to "rent" me a temporary saxophone for him to practice with while his was getting repaired. Music Go Round loaned me a sax for FREE during the repair. They fixed it in just a few days and kept in touch with me throughout the process. Highly recommend. read more

This is a great place to shop for used studio/recording gear, mics, and the like. Every now and then you can find a steal, and the more you know about typical pricing, gear models, mic models, etc, the better. In this way, great deals will not be simply handed to you. In 2 years, I've purchased three rack units for my studio and two mics, all of which were great deals, and all have held up. Some may think that used music stores sell faulty equipment, but I haven't fount his to be the case at Music Go Round. On the other hand, I would not recommend acoustic guitar re-stringing or repair here. I was late for a gig one night and had to restring my quickly before the show, and stopped in at Music Go Round. After the associate had restrung my acoustic, I noticed the action had been adjusted for the worse, and my instrument was fret buzzing and virtually unplayable. I voiced my disinterest, and the associates let me re-tweak the action using Music Go Round's tools. I was able to fix everything back to normal for the most part, and in fairness, I'm very particular about how I like my guitar to feel and sound like. Overall, Music Go Round offers good deals on used mics, used violins, starter guitars, and analog equipment if you're an educated buyer. Additionally, you may be able to find a used guitar amp at a great price, but be prepared to replace tubes for tube amps, mic preamps for interfaces, and power supply's for mics. If something doesn't work properly, the associates are usually fair about it, and they'll refund you outside of store policies. This is not a promise, rather a rule of thumb. If you can't find what you're looking for, give musician friend's customer service a call and try and negotiate a better price on new equipment! read more

If you're looking for cheap, second hand music gear, this is the place to go. My friends always seem to find good stuff there. I almost never go, although I check it out every time I go to Microcenter. 2 things knock the place- 1) They never seem to know what to point me to when I ask, "Do you have anything interesting in recently? Something you'd want to take home yourself?" I purchase almost exclusively high end and boutique stuff, but odd and quirky things work for me too. Their response always leaves me underwhelmed. 2) The last time I went in there one of the sales guys smelled as if he'd been rolling around in the trash out back, or worse yet, sleeping in it. That's just not really acceptable. I understand it was 100F outside, but keep some Ax in the bathroom or something for yourself if its a problem. read more

My go-to location for purchasing instruments and the place I send my students most often to buy their gear. The staff have always been extremely helpful and courteous. You won't find a better music store in Columbus! read more

When it comes to used music shops, it doesn't get any better of the Olentangy Plaza location of Music Go Round. The price and selection here is unbeatable, and the staff here knows their stuff. Selling equipment here is hassle free as well. You're never likely to get more than what you'd get for an item by selling it on eBay or craigslist, but we all know how it is when you're strapped for cash and looking to unload that extra reverb pedal for a few bucks. Sometimes, it' your only option. When you walk in, the first thing you'll notice is the wall of guitars off to the left. There's a great deal of imported junk and worthless novelty Hello Kitty goodness to be found on it, but you'll almost always find a decent mid-priced Fender or Epiphone here or there that's worth a second look. Just below the guitars is the amp section, which hosts a bevy of both tube and solid state amps in all shapes and sizes. About a year ago I managed to find a mint-condition Fender 212 Hot Rod Deville, which normally runs for over $700 new at big-box stores like Guitar Center and Sam Ash, for only $400 dollars. There's also enough low-watt practice amps to outfit just about every single 13 year old guitar student in Columbus. What I'm always impressed with is this locations constantly changing selection of used guitar and bass pedals. The case is always stocked with a handful of quality Boss and Line 6 pedals that are priced well below retail, and it's not the least bit uncommon to find slightly rarer pedals from Electroharmonix, DOD, and Ibanez in there at equally attractive prices. I managed to find a used Boss chromatic tuner pedal (one of Boss's most popular contributions to the guitar-playing population of the world) at a paltry $50 dollars- exactly half of what they go for new. The staff here is very friendly and even more knowledgeable about their products. When asked about a rather quirky Japanese Strat I saw hanging behind the counter with the rest of their more high-end guitars that are for sale, one of the clerks gave me a 10 minute history lesson as to why Japanese Strats are better than anything the company makes in Mexico or Korea these days, something I had absolutely no idea about. He then let me play the guitar, of course, which is another story for another day. What's more is that they truly stand by the products they sell. After buying a used audio interface that I later found out was not compatible with the version of Mac OS on my computer (which was not noted on the box), I was refunded my money with very little complication. I also bought a guitar with a loose pickup jack that I somehow overlooked when I picked it up for the first time, which they gladly repaired for me on the spot the next day when I brought it in. If you're in the market for ANY piece of musical equipment, whether it be a guitar, bass, acoustic, drums, a keyboard, PA speakers, etc., a stop at Music Go Round is absolutely essential. You may not find exactly what you're looking for every time, but you're guaranteed to find something you never knew you needed at a price that can't be beat. read more

I needed a mic check and possibly a speaker for recreational use. As soon as I walked in the door, I was greeted by Danny and asked if I needed any help. He checked my mic thoroughly and then proceeded to help me pick out a speaker for the best deal for my needs. Quick in and out in about 10 minutes! I'm not a serious musician in a band or anything, just like to tinker around at home with the guitar and mic. I felt like a valued customer whatever the skill level. Will definitely go again for any musical needs! Thanks Danny! read more

I recently decided to do something I have wanted to do for a long time, play guitar. About a month ago I went to a competitor's store and bought a "kit" that included a guitar and amp and gig bag. The guitar was a "Slash" model guitar. Basically I wanted something cheap that I could learn on. Unfortunately, the amp did not work consistently and the guitar was not constructed well as the panel was off the built in self turner. I paid about $287 after taxes and returned the kit. I did more research and discovered the store in Columbus on Bethel Road. After reviewing guitars on your website my wife and I went in. A gentleman named Danny helped me. His name tag indicated was a trainee. Danny was very, very helpful. I had questions about two used guitars and he was very patient with me and, at the risk of hopefully not getting him in trouble, he told me he thought between the two the less expensive Yamaha would be great for me. I found this to be very honest and great service. He found an amp and tested the guitar. It was obviously well built and sounded great. After answering all my questions, I decided to buy it and the amp he tested it out on. He went through all the cool functions on the amp too. Danny certainly made me feel comfortable asking any question and he took his time with me and really set me up with a great guitar, amp, picks and tuner. I left the store knowing my new guitar and amp was going to work and would be something I would want to practice daily. AND at a price about $120 less than what I paid for at the competitor's store with my unsuccessful first venture into playing guitar! In fact, I asked Danny if the price was right because I was amazed at how much cheaper it was for the quality. I want to thank Music Go Round and especially Danny in your Columbus store for the great customer service and quality guitar and amp! I am happy to say that I practice nearly everyday and for almost two or more hours at a time. Because of the great quality and customer service from Danny, you have a loyal customer. read more

Music Go Round is the best place to go for used gear. The staff there has been fantastic in every visit. They have a vast selection of gear and are always willing to point customers in the right direction no matter what their needs, helping to find the best price and equipment for every situation. Visiting other music stores in the Columbus area, I leave questioning if I truly got my value or if I've been ripped off (and in big-name stores, the latter is the case more often than not,) but in Music Go Round I always leave confident that my purchase was a good spending decision; and I have not been let down yet. read more

It's a bit like looking around at a pawn shop, but the stuff's better quality and the employees know what they're selling.

Searched Google for a Schecter C-1 Classic in Tobacco Sunburst(Rare Color) vs the Antiques Amber and See Thru Blue, which does not have a vivid viewable maple top. I called the Columbia, MO stores after finding the model listed above. Nick and Scott were very helpful on the phone regarding condition, which was "Excellent" and for an '08 without buckle rash, dents, etc. Some oxidation on the gold hardware which I expected. It arrived today and I could not be more pleased with the condition and packing. I owned an '08 and sold it while I was having "GAS" and regretted it. To get Seymour Duncans, Abalone inlay and excellent electronics makes a $449 plus 55 S/H and steal. My financial condition has improved since then and it is an unexpected pleasure to replace my earlier '08 with and excellent condition model. Great service and fast shipping, 2 days from MO via UPS. Thanks guys for an enjoyable experience and GREAT GUITAER read more

I've been playing guitar for 15 and once made a living selling vintage gear. I brought in a 1991 tobacco burst flying V that I was considering selling. These guys offered me $350 for it saying that they would only be able to sell it for $500. Knowing that this guitar would retail between 1200 and 1500, I took it with me to Chicago and sold it to a real guitar shop for $900. Either these guys have no idea what they are doing or they make their living off of conning people. Regardless, spend your money and time elsewhere. read more

Don't waste your time there. Been playing professionally for over 20 years and never entered a shop where I was not asked if I needed any assistance. Being a Los Angeles jazz native and working with some great shops out there leaves me feeling like these guys won't be open for much longer. Otherwise they will just keep selling to garage band soloists that do not know they are being had by a garage sale store. C'est la vie. Good day folks. read more

I WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. I've spent over $1500 at this store, maybe even around $ 2000. Today, even know I explained how much I shopped there, they would not take a few dollars off of a cheap acoustic guitar that had a crack in it. I was just a few dollars short. I talked to both Joe and the store manager and neither were willing to help me. I realize that this is a retail store and not a yard sale, but I've worked in retail most of my life and every now and then you can give a loyal customer a deal or a bit of a discount. I would have needed less than 10 % I NEVER complain about anything, but I made a yelp account just for this one. read more

I went to Music Go Round east with all of $1,800 cash of my tax refund to upgrade my guitar rig and my drummer couldn't come and he needed some hardware clamps but he had a fixed spending limit so I was taking a look at some of their clamps and two in particular were bundled together with one of them incomplete and not in working order by any means. So I asked about them to see if they could be separated and if I could only purchase the clamp that is usable since it would be pointless to spend his money on something he can't use. The dude behind the counter scoffed and said to me "why would I separate them"? I thought "why would I want to buy one that didn't work when I could just purchase the one that worked"? Which I didn't cause I'm not an asshole like this dude was. He said it could be used as parts which in most cases is correct but those usable extra parts is what this clamp was missing. Totally not knowing what condition his gear is in made me think, what else are they trying to sell people here? I simply put the clamps back and walked out the door without a word. I'm glad that exchange happened before I spent all my money there. read more
