CDs are also separated as featured items. You can easily spend an half hour browsing for used or new vinyls. Clearance items are also available during Labor Day weekend. My son & I stopped in to see what kinda place it was. At first we were like...meh, another hole in the wall that we've seen aplenty. Surprisingly, we both walked out with items & smiles. My son got a double LP that he'd been looking for & couldn't find in our prior travels...Pretty Cool. I ended up finding & adding a component that I was missing in my pursuit to build a retro stereo system...Great Find!! We'll definitely be going back to check this place out further & hope to find more hidden treasures for our collections & need to keep the music rockin' in our house. Friendly & helpful staff. They have a very large selection of both new & used CD's, Vinyl's, and even Cassette's. Prices were very affordable. This place has a vintage thrift store kinda vibe, but with only music. Hidden little gem across the street from the mall. read more

Best of the Best. This record store has it all, great selection of vinyl, frequent customer deals, cool employees, & fun events. Prime location but the parking lot can get full. Awesome free vinyl section near the register too. The only reason i didnt do this review sooner was out of greed. I didn't want to divulge my hidden gem of a store. They deserve the good review so here it is. They could use a larger location because they have so much inventory and it can be cluttered but that's what digging in the crates is all about. read more

I've gone to this store twice - a year between my two visits. I'm not a local, and it's a bit of a haul for me from where I am in NH in the summer. The most positive thing about the place is it's an actual record store with new and used vintage vinyl which is what I am looking for. They have stereo equipment and CDs and movies, but I don't care about that. I'm a vinyl collector. Both visits, I bought two albums. They have a new arrivals bin at the front, so I always hit that first. But the downside is that if they have anything at all decent, the prices are outrageous. Seriously, hundreds of dollars for good albums but not always in the top condition. There were items still on the wall from the last time I was here 14 months ago. No one is going to buy that stuff. Maybe that's their M.O., but I don't get that. Also, they have so much stuff in boxes and in stacks on top of the actual sales racks/bins that you have to move things around to look or you just can't even get to some of their stuff because of all of the clutter. It's a total New England attitude too, meaning I haven't found them to be very friendly or conversational. That's sad living life that way I think. Also, they were running some special discount where if a record had a certain colored sticker on it then that meant it was a certain amount off, but none of the colors on the displays for the discounts matched any of the colors of the stickers on the actual records. And they couldn't really explain that either, so that was just weird and confusing. But circling back, I still give them 3 stars and appreciate they are a record store with changing inventory, but if you have to drive any distance to get to this place I'd say don't bother. No one's paying $175 for Pharoah Sanders' "Love In Us All" in VG condition. They just aren't. That's why that record will probably still be there 1+ years from now. read more

There is a lot to digest in here. New music, reissues, second hand, and who knows what else is bursting from the seams in here. One visit will never suffice, and you probably need a game plan before going on or you'll suffer from dreaded mind eraser which happens in stores like this. It's the kind of place that if you leave empty-handed then were you even trying? Check the wall out as well for some very well-priced grails. There is one in there for $175 that I really want so I won't mention it on here as the community is always on the lookout. A real gem of a store. read more

They gouge on all their prices and it's expensive. Dirty, many records are very dusty and dirty with beat up outer jackets and it blows my mind what they charge for some of the records with the condition they are in. They do carry some unofficial/ counterfeit records too and it may not be too many I don't know but any store that promotes and supports those kinds of releases I do not want to give my money to. read more

I was thrilled to find a place that would take my husband's old 70's LPs and put them on CD for him. Richard was great, he did the work in about a day, and he charged me a very reasonable $25 a CD. There is one song on the CD that doesn't sound quite right -- we're going to see if he'll rerecord that one for us (sounds as if the turntable changed speeds a few times) but other than that his work is perfect. I enjoyed picking up my albums, because Richard obviously listened to the records as he made the recording, and he wanted to chat about the music. That was fun. The store is full of out-of-print LPs. If you go for that kind of thing, there are a lot of records to browse through. The only downside I saw was that Richard and his staff clearly smoke all they want in the store. It reeks of cigarette smoke; I have not been in a place like that in a while. But I'll deal with that in order to do business with Richard again. read more

I'm thrilled to see this place is still there - and relatively unchanged from my last visit 5 or so years ago. I don't make it up to Manch-vegas all that often, but while Boston-area record stores are closing down left and right, Music Connection soldiers on. For how long is anybody's guess - the store's friendly proprietor is probably nearing retirement age if he's not there already. It's a spacious store, and the records are well-organized for easy browsing. In the center aisles is the rock and pop, mostly 70s and 80s selections and very little post-1990. In the back are some bargain 12" singles - a great place to pick up that old Duran Duran "night version" extended single or that one-hit wonder from 1992. Joe Public, anyone? The prices are pretty reasonable, and very standardized - 45's are around $3.99 (with some bargain ones in front), 12" singles are $6.99 but there's a lot of dollar bin finds too, and LP's start around $7.99. read more

This is the best vinyl music store in Southern New Hampshire. The owner, John, is a treasure troth of music history. John has a huge selection of vinyl (new and vintage) and cd's. The store also has a large inventory of vintage audio and stereo equipment, including: turntables, portable stereo cassette players/recorders, 8-tracks and even 1/4" reel-to-reel player/recorders. If you miss the days of perusing aisles of vinyl and finding hidden gems or stumbling across nostalgic albums that instantly transport you back to your childhood... then make a trip to Music Connection, and I guarantee it'll be the first of many. read more

Walked into Music Connection for the first time this afternoon with my sister while up from NJ visiting family and met John the owner. Super laid back and friendly dude but at the same time, very personable and knowledgeable. Had kind of a back and forth with nerdy music trivia and definitely learned a couple things I did not know before. On top of that, the selection was great (as long as you don't like metal) and the prices were more than fair. Very happy to be back in an actual record store again so any and all music fans in the southern NH area would do well to pop in. read more

A little piece of vinyl heaven carved out in Manchester. From the moment I walked in I knew this place was a gem. row after row of well organized used LPs. The proprietor was helpful but not over bearing. Curious about how a specific record sounds? Then throw it on the house turntable. I have enjoyed each visit a d always find something unexpected. Just moved to the Nashua are and I was looking for a new place to get vinyl/CDs so I found music connection on yelp and thought I'd give it a try! It's a very cute little shop with rows and rows of CD's and records everywhere! It was very nicely organized and I was easily able to find a bunch of CD's I wanted. The prices are pretty reasonable, out of all the CDs I was looking at I'd say the average price was $7-$8. A huge selection of very old records but also a pretty good amount of newer stuff. The guy who was working was very friendly, he even informed me that he had one of the CDs I was purchasing on a different table for a cheaper price which was wicked cool!!! Definitely will be visiting again when I need some new tunes!!!!! read more

I have been going to this record store since I was a junior in high school. That was over 30 years ago, and over the decades, I have bought hundreds of records from here. Way back when, it was on Manchester St. in a much smaller location when, the original owner, Richard Gesner, started off. Even then, the shop layout was pretty much like what you see today with current owner John Benedict - most records are sorted by artist name in well-laid-out alphabetical order, and grouped into larger artist sections for country, rock, etc. Everything is easy to navigate, and the 45-rpm singles especially are arranged with an amazing attention to detail. There are also usually some large stacks of newly arrived material waiting to be sorted - I would estimate John has accumulated at least two times the volume of records that Mr. Gesner had - and customers can feel free to flip through these new arrivals as well (unlike some stores, which will tell you to "leave them alone" until they get priced). There is a very laid-back, casual atmosphere here that seems reminiscent of the old-school record stores I enjoyed back in the 1980s. While I admit that I am still nostalgic for the late Mr. Gesner, who had decades worth of musical knowledge committed to memory, John has done an excellent job of preserving his legacy, and above that, has updated it for the 21st Century. Mr. Gesner seemed to focus largely on the 1940s-through-1960s era, but at the Music Connection that exists now, you will find modern vinyl releases by nearly all currently popular artists who release on the LP format. Chances are that if an album has been recently released on vinyl, John has a copy of it, or can find one for you quickly. Most impressively, John has also greatly expanded the store's collection of vintage stereo components, including hard-to-find formats such as reel-to-reel and eight-track. I've also found some incredibly rare items such as vintage Sansui speakers here (rarer than passenger pigeons here in the Northeast US), which are almost impossible to find in good condition even on the internet. Some working reel-to-reel players even have the plastic dust covers intact, which again are very hard to find today. As an added bonus, John has connections to an excellent technician who can clean and restore your rare vintage components to perfect working condition. I have had two stereos and a turntable fixed already and I am very pleased with the results. Today, the Music Connection is a much larger store than the location I remember as a teenager, and as such, the sheer volume of material can seem overwhelming to a first-time visitor. I find that the aisles of records are easy for an adult to safely walk through, and John does not mind moving some new arrivals out of the way if they have been temporarily placed on top of other LPs you want to look at. Although John is usually pretty busy when I come in, I find that he is always willing to answer questions and has excellent knowledge of what he has in stock. I remember many years ago, when Mr. Gesner was interviewed by the local paper when he first set up shop, he said that most of his customers were people "who are collectors, or are trying to find a memory." More than 30 years later, the Music Connection still continues to provide an excellent resource for collectors and those who are trying to locate lost musical memories. Highly recommended. read more

My only complaint comes from one of the store's greatest strengths, it is difficult to move in there because of all of the stock. It's amazing stuff though, from obscure video formats (laser disc, CED etc) to records, CDs and tapes. Definitely check this place out when you're in town. read more

Now under new management. Mr Gesner sold the business but he still helps out the new owner. There's a vintage jukebox in there now playing 50s/60/70s/80s music. Looking forward to a tidy setup and lots of vinyl. They have lots of 45s, a small but growing new releases section, and the prices are reasonable. I'll be going back fairly regularly. read more

So I made time to go here last week and I had my friend send me a copy of his wish list too. All I can say is if you can't find what you are looking for here you probably won't find it! So many Sinatra records (not my cup of tea but they were on my friends list) I found all he was looking for. What a great selection. Like I said before he has tapes and CDs too but this trip was all about the vinyl. I even got a new sealed copy of Dark Side Of The Moon. Lots of new sealed LPs as well as used.
