Have been renting my daughter's viola from this store for the past 5 years. But today we finally bought her a beautiful brand new viola that she can call her very own! And we paid 1 CENT! Not really lol but we had to be rung up in order to process the transaction and use the accumulated store credit balance to purchase the $1,000 instrument. We had an $1100 credit from renting all these years, and it finally paid off. I love that the money you are spending every month to rent can go toward purchasing an instrument one day. This was perfect because she outgrew several violas throughout the years and plus you never know if your kid is going to stick with playing the instrument. Now that she is pretty much full grown and had already committed to playing orchestra her last two years of high school, it was an awesome feeling to BUY her viola that she can love and cherish. Great customer service and we have never had any billing issues through the years. Great music store for students and young musicians. They also offer music and voice lessons. Great place to go to rent instruments! My daughters each played a string instrument in elementary. Rather than shell out hundreds of dollars to buy one, I rented. Glad I did. One of them is no longer playing an instrument. The customer service is good. Sometimes they are slow if they're busy. And that's because they are giving each customer their 100% attention. I like that. They are hassle-free when it come to returns and repairs to. Since we rent, the labor for repairs is free. They will also tune your intrument for free. This is key. When one of my daughter's strings broke off her violin, all I had to do was pay the $1.50 for the string! They replaced it and tuned right on the spot. I bought my husband a keyboard from here a few years ago for Christmas. It was on sale too! Awesome deal! He was very happy with the gift. And I was happy with the price! I have been renting a clarinet for my daughter for 4 years. And finally we decide to get a new one using the rental credit, the store gave us a well-used one in bad shape, by trying to get a brand new one, the customers service told us we can only use $400 towards a new one, but I have more than $1000 rental credit in my account. I just went to the location off of stapley and baseline. There were a lot of people in the store and the phone was ringing off the hook! Kyle was the only employee working and he was handling it like a CHAMP! He gave each customer individual attention and made sure each transaction was done meticulously! Just a horrible financial and customer service experience with this company. Approximately 18 months ago I cancelled a credit card that was associated with my monthly rental fee. At that time I forgot to add a new credit card to my account so that my bill would continue to be paid. It was an honest oversight and I never noticed we weren't paying the bill. No one from the company contacted me to attempt to resolve the issue because both the address and phone number in their system was incorrect. The phone number this company had as my contact was the phone number of the store itself and the address on file was also incorrect. None of this is information I provided on the rental agreement and no one was able to provide me a copy of my signed lease so we could verify this fact. Once the lease is signed the information is entered into their system and the original signed document disappears from their system. The only thing accurate was my email address which no one attempted to use to reach me. I live less than a mile from the store. I have a unique name. A simple google of my name would have provided accurate contact information, yet no one could find me? It was by chance we discovered we weren't paying the bill when we visited the store to see how much equity we had built up as this company will apply what a customer pays in rental fees toward the purchase price of an instrument. We were ready to buy. It was then the store manager looked up our account and informed us we hadn't been paying our bill and the debt had been transferred to a 3rd party collector. They also informed us all accrued rental equity was now forfeited. We were shocked! At that time I wanted to immediately square up and pay all the rental fees we had missed so we could apply that amount towards the purchase of an instrument, but all billing issues are handled by the corporate office in MaryLand. One can't even add a new credit card at the local store. In fact once the contract is set up all customer information is sent to MaryLand and the local store no longer handles any of the billing issues including contacting the local customer directly and/or accepting payment of rental fees. It's like we no longer exist at the local level. One has to call a 1800 number and talk to someone in Maryland which I attempted to do numerous times. There was always a wait time and no one returns voicemails nor calls back when I was told they would do so. There also is no email option and the billing representatives are exceptionally rude. I had to be incredibly proactive and it was always the same response: "We're just waiting to get the signed leasing contract from the warehouse so we can verify the information contradicts what is in our system and if so and if so we will work with you to make this right." They also repeatedly told me they would call me back which they never did. I was always the one calling them. My only recourse is to take this business to small claims court in an attempt to rectify this issue. It's crazy! I provided both Music and Arts and the collection agency my correct address months ago, but to date after numerous requests have yet to receive anything in writing explaining the debt so not sure how to sue a company when I can't prove the malfeasance in writing. At this point I now own a trumpet since Music and Arts informed my even if I were to return the instrument I would still owe the debt. They told me to keep the trumpet and pay the debt. Not an option as having this in collections affects our credit. This should never have been in collections. By law Music and Arts must inform the customer of any outstanding debt before referring to a collections agency. Due to negligence by this business that never happened. I wish I could give zero stars. I'll update this review if once this is resolved through the court or if Music and Arts reaches out to me to in their words to "make this right." read more

We had a wonderful experience with my daughters Cello rental. She even broke it and we went in and got a new one that very day. No questions, no charge, literally a whole Cello within 5 minutes. Easy pay options, great customer service. We shopped around for prices as well and they were the best price for a Cello in our area. read more

Rent at your own risk. Store personnel seems to be friendly, however, that's about it. We rented an alto sax, and when we had to exchange it for another sax due to tuning problems, they secretly changed the rental price without telling us. When we called the store about it, they refused to fix the problem, saying they have no way of doing so (but they were capable of overcharging.). Called corporate customer service, and they also claim to not be able to fix the problem. Now we have to wait for their auditing department to maybe do something. Strongly recommend renting from a different business that knows how to treat their customers with respect and integrity. Updated 3/30/2015 - Audit department called within 24 hours and fixed billing problem. Increasing the rating from 1 star to 3 stars. read more

I took my daughter to this location to try out new piccolos and the customer service there was top notch. Mike didn't have the piccolos in but he immediately requested them in from other stores and had them in no time. They were amazing at giving her feedback and praise as she tried the different piccolos. We left with a new instrument and happy to patronize such an awesome company. Mike definitely took care of us and we will be returning for all of our music needs. read more

Very disappointing experience with the instrument rental side of this company. We ordered our child's instrument during the summer. We never received a shipment confirmation from the company, with band starting soon I contacted the company to find out where our order was. First I contacted the company via email waited a few days with no response, so I decided to call the company I waited on hold for 34 minutes when I finally spoke with someone all I got was incoherent answers and not much help. The representative told me she was sending an email to the "shipping department" and marking "high priority" she told me she would contact me by the end of the day. I never received any updates. The next day I called back waited on hold for 45 minutes and ultimately cancelled the order we had placed. The representative was rude and unapologetic. I explained to her why we were cancelling with her response being "Mmm hmm, your order is cancelled. Do you need anything else." Wow! Great customer service! I never did find out why our order was never delivered, what the snag was or anything. I have never been inside the store in Gilbert and from this experience I most likely never will. Have only purchased some accessories but have quit using them altogether. Major retailer (Guitar Center, Music & Arts, Woodwind & Brasswind, etc...) focused on school programs. read more
