Most of their guitar stock is focused on entry level models rather than high trim models. On the plus side they had a good selection of nice Orange amps and carried a line of affordable pedals, by outlaw effects, that I've never seen elsewhere. The two young store employees were nice and friendly. On the negative side, I was really turned off by the store owner and didnt want to do business with him as a result. He approached me while I was checking out a Jaguar guitar and I asked him a few questions about how the controls on the guitar worked (because they were really different) and what the B stock label meant and how that could affect resale down the road if I decided to sell it. His conversational tone and somewhat combative statements were really off putting. The guitar was a pretty good deal but I really didn't want to do business with a guy like him. Shopping for guitars should be a fun experience, but this was just an upsetting one. This visit made me appreciate Guitar Center a lot more because they treat customers (including kids) so well there and don't make you feel bad asking questions about guitars or taking your time checking out gear.

They seem to carry the FULL lineup of Cordoba guitars and Esteve guitars (a brand I was previously unfamiliar with but now appreciate). They also carry a few other brands I haven't seen at any other stores. I told the store owner I was looking for a cedar top (not spruce) classical guitar with a traditional (not crossover) fingerboard. He lined up 6 guitars for me to try out at a leisurely pace which was very helpful in discovering what I really liked. I had visited a few big guitar stores recently and my favorite guitar during those visits was a Cordoba C9. What surprised me is that although that guitar was one of the six that William lined up for me, I found that it was my least favorite of the six. After playing the 6 guitars for an hour, what bubbled to the top was a Esteve 9C/B with its carbon fiber enhanced bracing. It had great projection and sounded very full and balanced. #2 of the 6 for me was the Cordoba C12. Nice playability, looks, and build quality but not as impressive sounding as the slightly cheaper Esteve. So the bottom line is that if you're looking to buy a classical guitar, don't go to other stores that carry a limited range of Cordoba models. Guitar Gallery has the full Cordoba lineup in both spruce and cedar and also carries other brands no other place has.They are so gracious in letting you take your time with a custom line up of guitars. On a final note, they have an amazing selection of classical guitar strings. Probably 8X the selection you'll find at any other store. I picked up 3 sets recommended by William.

The staff was always great and helpful. Fast forward a few years, I inherit a handful of guitars from my father. My father is left handed and I am not. To convert the guitars from left to right is a chore, but not overwhelming. i know how to do the work, but chose to treat myself and have an "expert" do it. I dropped them off we had discussed changing the nut only reconfiguring the bridge if necessary. They sold me new strings and I went on my way. I was so excited when they called me and told me they were ready. I was in a rush when I picked them up. I admit it seemed much cheaper than I had expected, but in my rush I wasn't really paying attention. I got home and tried them out. The action seemed OFF. I again was so busy at that time I did not have a chance to really go over the guitars and thought maybe the new strings were still strechting and were amybe affected by the extreme heat we were having. a few weeks later things had calmed down. I took the guitars out and tried playing and then began to look them over, really look then over. The "expert" only restrung the guitar upside down. Did not change the nut. No bridge adjustment. No phone call saying are you sure ofnthe work we need to do. I called the store and in the manner of service I had been accustomed to they told me to bring them back in and they work take care f them. Io dropped them off received the normal apologies, followed up a few days later from their "expert".listing all of the things that needed to happen. I am/was aware of the work needed, but at this point I have lost all faith in this so called "expert" and just asked him to return the guitars to the shop and I would jit take them elsewhere. As I went to pick them up I thought there might have been some discussion or apology for the "misunderstanding". Nothing. That was the last time I will shop there and cannot ever reccomend them again. I would expect this from Guitar Center, but I think their techs would have at least called the first time to say, "Are you sure of this work?" You have lost a family of customers nor can I recommend you to others.

Many times, they have played at Cat Jams and not only donated their time but have dug deep into their own pockets as well, to help with the fundraising. All of this is done in the name of helping others. You won't go wrong by working with this group of individuals. The Lions of Virginia are very fortunate to be associated with these fine musicians. From what I read online, most piano dealers will quote an MSRP or "SMP (suggested maximum price)" with the expectation that you will haggle down the price. We went to our local Yamaha dealer [not Downtown Piano Works] and met with a sales associate recommended by our piano teacher. His first offer was already less than MSRP: I'm terrible at haggling, but I figured I'd try anyway and ask for a better price. A day later, he came back with another $500 off the price. I was feeling pretty good about myself and was getting ready to go to the store before his "offer expired." On a whim, minutes before I left, I thought I'd try the next closest Yamaha dealer, which happened to be Downtown Piano Works. I typed a chat message into their website, expecting a canned AI answer. Instead, Dan, the owner, responded right away. He told me to call him on his cell phone, and without hearing the other store's "lowest" price, he quoted a price that was $1500 less. There was no haggling, no wondering if I was getting a worse deal than everyone else on the internet. We drove with the kids an hour to Frederick just to make sure this wasn't too good to be true, and it wasn't. Dan and Theresa opened their store on a Saturday night, three hours after I'd first messaged their website. By the time we left, we were the owners of a new Yamaha U1. If you're in the market for a new Yamaha acoustic piano, within driving distance of Frederick, and want to avoid the usual stress of new piano shopping, I'd definitely try clicking chat on their website.

My piano was severely out tuned as it was taken apart and moved from two different location and wasn't tuned in years so he recommended it being tuned twice which he completed. I will continue to use him for as long as he continues to serve my area.
