My son has taken drum lessons elsewhere for over a year. And has only learned patterns. We came to…read moreSchool of Rock and he learned so much in just a few weeks! How to set up his drums. The idea of ear plugs for his sensitive ears. Picking out songs he likes so he can learn them with other kids. His teacher is great! And he is really enjoying it! The lessons are twice a week so it keeps drumming in his head. It feels like he is on his way to be in a kid band instead of stuck in a sound proof room playing patterns. We are very happy with the whole experience. The office manager is professional, smart and well organized. The teachers are talented and good to the kids. We will be here for a while! I look forward to my son's concerts in the future! PS - we have been to several concerts performed by a plethora of students. Very cool. Great experience!!

I don't understand this place. I got an initial call back to discuss how the place works, but then…read morescheduling a trial lesson was like pulling teeth-- calling, emailing, finally texting. Took forever. Got to the trial lesson only to be told the person we'd worked so hard to get wasn't available so it's with so-and-so. Uh. Fine, but we picked the other person for a reason. And booked another trial with the original teacher, only to get to THAT lesson and realize it's still not the instructor we'd been aiming for. While sitting during the lesson, another student walked in and was told "oh so-and-so is no longer with us so this other person will be your teacher today." What? So you're not told ahead of time? (The mom asked when they'd known this teacher was leaving and it was two weeks prior, but they didn't bother to give anyone notice.) I find it strange that you pay in advance for these situations. Anyway. It's too poorly managed for me, which is too bad because it is certainly a great concept.

I was recently here for the second time, and it is a great, intimate venue with good service, but…read morethe seating and logistics leave something to be desired. The size of the space is good for some smaller touring performers, and the sound quality has been excellent both times that I have been here. Service was pretty quick and the servers have been friendly. Further, the food that I have tried has been good and fresh, and they have a decent drink selection. While my service was quick, I arrived pretty early so there were only a couple others there at first. They seemingly only had one server for everyone, which is wild and things were more delayed once it got busier. Additionally, the tables are so close together it would be inaccessible if all seats were filled. The row on the other side of my table only had one person, yet it was still difficult for that person to get out because the other table whose backs were facing them had most spots filled. It was hard and disruptive for people to get out of their seats to go to the restroom and such because seats were super close together. Had both sides of the tables been filled, people would have either been stuck where they were or everyone else would have had to get up to let them out. The way that the tables are placed also makes it hard for some seats to see the performer(s) without fully turning their chair (which, given the space issues, wouldnt work for everyone to do). Anyway, I do like this venue, but I hope they reconsider the setup. While this may mean a reduction in premium price seating, it would be a much better experience for attendees.

Al's Guitar Workshop - Nice set up Al!!

The Ephiphone needed a complete overhaul of the electronics (pickups and controls) and a setup of the strings afterwards since a new piezo bridge was also installed. Prior to this work, the pots were quite noisy, and there were issues with the 1/4" output where it was also crackly depending upon movement. The pickups were replaced with a fairly standard set of Seymour Duncans (SH-2N and SH-4B), the wiring harness was removed and replaced with a much quieter (read shielded) setup, new pots and a new 1/4" output jack. The sound of this instrument while plugged in has drastically improved and now has a bit more versatility when it comes to live and studio usage. There was a little less work with the Agile solid body, where it needed to be updated with stacked pots in order to give a more Gibson-esque control layout of two volumes and two tone pots (one pair for each pickup) to replace the standard master volume, master tone. This allows the guitar to have more tonal variation, especially when both pickups are in use. In both cases the work was done promptly and with an expected series of charges. Al is probably one of the better luthiers when it comes to communications (including pictures) on what is going on with the respective job orders. Like the others on this board, I highly recommend your repair/setup work come his way.

Al not only quoted me a very reasonable price but made some very helpful recommendations that I wound up having him work on doing the complete upgrade and set up, all within my budget. His attention to detail and thoroughness made my guitar turn out way better than I could hope. Am very happy with the results and the fast turn around. Would use again.
