Store manager Brad Prentice spent hours with me during multiple trips to the store, answering every question patiently with an amazing display of knowledge. He listened to what I was looking for and steered me in the right direction. I was 99% of the way to buying a particular digital piano but changed my mind at the last minute when I realized I'm not quite ready. Brad was gracious and didn't make me feel guilty about wasting his time. The whole experience was terrific. I'll certainly be back when I'm ready to buy something.

We are very happy with the whole experience. The office manager is professional, smart and well organized. The teachers are talented and good to the kids. We will be here for a while! Took forever. Got to the trial lesson only to be told the person we'd worked so hard to get wasn't available so it's with so-and-so. Uh. Fine, but we picked the other person for a reason. And booked another trial with the original teacher, only to get to THAT lesson and realize it's still not the instructor we'd been aiming for. While sitting during the lesson, another student walked in and was told "oh so-and-so is no longer with us so this other person will be your teacher today." What? So you're not told ahead of time? (The mom asked when they'd known this teacher was leaving and it was two weeks prior, but they didn't bother to give anyone notice.) I find it strange that you pay in advance for these situations. Anyway. It's too poorly managed for me, which is too bad because it is certainly a great concept.

In contrast, Gretchen can demonstrate how to move fingers and hands for every imaginable situation; and she gives invaluable advice for how to turn passages into mini-exercises for more efficient practice. While a student of Gretchen's I have managed to pass the ABRSM Grade 7 piano exam and Grade 6 theory exam. If your teacher just assigns you pieces like homework assignments and little else, then consider switching to Gretchen.

It has a small sign that does not catch my eye and is between a nail spa and a "cleaners". After all that I walked in expecting very little. A guy asked if I needed help and as I was still slightly miffed that it took me so long to find the place, I blew him off semi-politely. He kept asking and started joking but I wanted to hang on to being miffed a bit longer so I told him no thanks and continued to walk around. I found what I was looking for - piano music - but during this timeframe a young lady came in looking for an electric guitar. The guy behind the desk went right to work helping her, even though she tried to initially push him off as well. Within minutes he had helped her pick a guitar for the sound she was looking for, they were both sitting down and jamming, and he was showing her easier ways to transition between certain chords she was playing. Wow. The young man's name is Jessie. Absolute gold.
