Our food was excellent. My wife and I each had a Ruban sandwich. I had a bowl of chili and my wife had a bowl of potato soup. Again, both excellent. The menu lists several excellent and varied options. The waitress was courteous and efficient. My only complaint is the beer selection was very limited. This experience was so unique in how terrible it is that I spent hours reading the Google reviews. What do I find out? The owner was the mayor of Tomah! A conspiracy abounds! I legit thought I was being pranked by a kitchen nightmares spin-off. I had to look up the owner and learn more. Who is the man who thought coleslaw should go on nachos? Who is brave enough to offer high end prices and put out frozen boxed food with insane flavor combinations nobody asked for? Who thought a driving instructor turned mayor should be the town chef? There are three things that should have given us red flags and the sense to leave 1. A ridiculously large menu you can't do everything well and if you sell everything from a poke bowl to Mexican to Italian you cannot execute on 100's of menu items well 2. An empty restaurant during lunch rush time 3. A newer build without any character I cannot explain to you how surprised I was when Mexican street corn nachos came out with brown dollops with a kernel or two of corn? No shredded cheese and questionably no cheese at all? The orange liquid on top could be cheese. I asked the server what the brown substance was and she said she had no idea and looked very embarrassed. Thankfully they took it away and removed it from my bill. The presentation was similar to nachos I have served after drinking for 8 hours in college and putting whatever I had in the fridge on some yellow corn tortilla chips. As a side note, the coleslaw was fluorescent green. I ordered a broasted chicken sandwich (because of course they offer full broasted chicken meals next to pizzas, pastas, steaks, lobster, Asian bowls, and egg rolls) The sweet potato fries looked like they ran off the Cisco truck and dropped themselves into the dirtiest fryer I have ever seen. The fries were inedible. It was toxic and I feared for what the state of my stomach was going to be in several hours. The chicken tasted of the same dirty taste like their grill hasn't been cleaned since the mayoral election was lost. My poor server couldn't bear to ask me how the food was when she saw the one bite out of the sandwich and the plate pushed to the end of the table. I fear she hit her quota of comped food for the day and couldn't take yet another plate back to the kitchen. The French dip had the same "off" taste and I started to rack my brain as to what is happening back there. Could their freezer have broken and the food spoiled? But no, they really served those nachos without blinking an eye. Maybe they could taste like that for real? I saw a male going in and out of the kitchen. Could it have been our esteemed former mayor? If he knew about the returned appetizer he certainly didn't come to inquire which may indicate that complaints are more of an every day fare. Our barely touched food sat on the table as I hastily drank another beer to cure my rumbling tummy. Our server asked if we wanted to go boxes and seemed unsurprised when we said no. She didn't seem to dare ask how things were for fear we would give a real answer. Another unsuspecting family from out of town showed up and out of 200 available seating options they were seated next to us in the eerily empty dining room. We could hear their gasp when the nachos were dropped like a bomb on their table. I only wish I could have warned them... Soon they too left a table full of untouched food and quietly declined to go boxes. I felt so bad for our server that I didn't complain again about the sandwich after the nacho fiasco. After my Google review investigation and in depth search of the political history of Tomah, WI, I realized this whole restaurant is a scam. Foolish out of towners stop by off the interstate for food and are too polite to complain. The owner charges 50 percent more than the food is worth to cover those who do complain. The servers get paid well because the guests feel so bad for them. Now Mr. Mayor can impress his citizens with his fancy restaurant. We splurged and ordered ribeyes. My wife's was barely acceptable and mine was almost completely fat. I don't know why their 'executive chef' even put this on the grill. I had already visited the salad bar that was part of the meal and they insisted I had to pay for that, even though I didn't want to take a chance on another steak. I have never seen a more disgusting piece of meat. I ended up ordering a hamburger as I hadn't eaten in 7 hours. The burger was passable but the fries were limp and weren't very hot. Stopped in over the weekend while in the area, and it's a cute place with a fun vibe! I particularly liked the wooden Native American woman and Teepee sign, which appear to be from a previous business in the area after browsing photos on the wall. The staff was very friendly and always checking in to see how we were doing. The beer was great, and the giant pretzel even better. The buttery crust was perfect. I enjoyed the beer cheese sauce, but not so much the queso. My husband devoured his Ruben, and I enjoyed my herbed aioli BLT. The fries were crispy, but I wasn't the biggest fan of the ranch. Went for lunch yesterday. It's a new restaurant, but it is really nice so far. Looks great on the inside, with old pictures of the town and nice furniture and dishes. I would not recommend the lobster stuffed shrimp. I was so looking forward to my dinner. They were not stuffed. They were laid on the plate with very over done panko thrown on top. That teeny pile on the rim of the plate is the lobster. It's very misleading to put that item on your menu "MOM". It should say shrimp with panko. The waitress was nice. My stepdad had the ribeye. He said the au jus was very salty. My mom had the wine poached shrimp. Then to charge $2.00 for a half cup of the garlic mashed potatoes (not pictured) is just ridiculous. The food here is wonderful. Murray's absolutely has the most unique menu in the area. They have the standard American fare such as burgers, steaks and chicken, etc, but also add in an eclectic mix of dishes like lobster mac & cheese, poke, tuna tartare and more. My favorite menu item here is the soup. Every day they have something new, plus some regulars. If you haven't tried the clam chowder here, you're missing something amazing. Food was very good. I had the tips and they were excellent, with an (*). I've always had tips served on a bed of egg noodles or similar pasta. The server said later that i could have had it that way, but then the other side was eliminated...hmmm For $20 I think they could be a bit more generous. The prime rib special was good for the other three diners, but a bit undercooked especially for medium rare. I did not read any yelp reviews because the boss wanted to try this place. Her bloody was tasteless and she is a bloody guru. Beer chaser added 50 cents to the $7 price. Prices tend to be on the $$$/$$$$ range. A bit pricey considering that the atmospheres was much more casual than other places in this price range. We may try it again. Not sure, Since many places are similarly priced and have better atmosphere. Booths were tight, very tight!! A cute, modern pub and restaurant with wasted potential. Service was slow on a Saturday afternoon. A few tables were filled and it seemed like there was only one server. The menu had a nice selection of appetizers, broasted chicken, pizza, and sandwiches. However, the dishes were poorly seasoned and overall disappointing. Overall I had a positive experience here. The atmosphere of the restaurant portion is very nice and most of the wait staff was very attentive. Our waiter was dealing with a 19 top of high schoolers so I can't really hold the slow time against her. She also took 10% off our bill for our wait which wasn't even too bad. I've been wanting to try this place for awhile, but never had the opportunity. The one time I finally got the opportunity to go I was not impressed. Let's start with the good. The atmosphere is amazing. The decor is beautiful and you have two options to chose from. A seated quaint dinner vibe or a sports bar atmosphere. My server was very friendly and accommodating and answered all questions and was very knowledgeable. I am able to say that the food does arrive to the table hot. I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese, a BLT and added chicken, my friends ordered the chicken broccoli Alfredo and the herb BLT. The lobster Mac and cheese arrived to the table hot and tasted amazing. It was super cheesy and they did not skimp on the lobster. Now we move to the not so good. First for the restaurant to have a sports bar, the waitress was not able to provide a drink menu. She informed us that we could request a drink and they would see if they had it available to make. I just found that a bit odd. I ordered a BLT on a pretzel bun, but added a chicken breast because they didn't have a chicken sandwich. My chicken on my sandwich was very bland, but I let it go because that's what mustard is for, but what upset me most was the old molded avocado and parsley on my sandwich. Always Excited to try a new place. Here's my take: definitely Sporty Bar atmosphere. Booths not comfortable. Table way close, felt squeezed in, elbowed each other. Salad Bar plates very small. Soup was good..but not Hot! Prime Rib was cold, not the medium I ordered. To pink and lots of fat. AuJus not Hot or tasty. Baked Potato not hot, actually hard and so small. (We live in area and it's Potato Land) Sour Cream in a packet, come on that's tacky. I specialize in Bloody Mary's, the homemade mix is runny, no good thick tomato taste. For $7 + .50 for the tiny Chaser. Not happy at all. Brandy Alexander way way liquidity, should be thick and for $8 didn't cut it. I'm in my 70s and been around the block and then some. It just was a not inviting dinner plate. Presentation is everything and piping hot food is a must. The garlic potatoes Friend had was not good at all. Didn't eat. The Best part was McKenzie the Waitress. However she failed to offer the traditional Noodles with the Beef Tenderloin. That's the best way to serve them..not french fries. It respects and honors the locals who have been pillars of the community. It is what the owner says it is, a casual classy place with all the popular supper-club style dinner fare. The market was there, and the location was already established for this kind of business, so it was a good risk for the owner. It's a nice place to dine, rather than just eat, and if you must drink, well, there's the bar. The staff is friendly, and the management clearly intends to keep it that way. When I tried Murray's on Main, it went exactly like I thought it would. That is to say...not great. I went with a party of 6 and was seated right away--yay! But after 15 minutes of waiting, we had to grab a passing server and ask if someone could come wait on our table--boo. One of our party members is celiac and extremely sensitive to gluten, so in order to avoid having a poo-stomach in the middle of the restaurant, she asked which items on the menu are gluten-free. To which our young server replied, "What is gluten?"‍ She has to go back and ask the cooks. She seemed quite annoyed that she had to take this extra step to make sure my friend didn't poop her pants. We waited about 30 minutes for our food, which is about the longest before you start wondering if the restaurant is trying to hold you hostage. Half way through our wait, our server came back and told me that they were "out" of my order. Sigh. So I went with the fish fry, starting with the broiled fish. Why not, right? Two 1 1/2 ounce pieces (do you even macro, bro?) of fish arrived on a gigantic plate next to a sad baked potato. The fish was so dry that I couldn't eat much of it. One of my friends squeezed three lemon slices over her broiled fish. For the record--it didn't help. So, being the ever hopeful person I am, ordered the battered fish next. It took so long to get our second order of "all you can eat" fish fry that we almost left. When we asked our server, she wasn't apologetic, but flat out, "it's not my fault guys. I keep going back there." Ah. Sounds like these cooks need to be a little bit better about making extra fish on a fish Friday...? When our measly pieces of fish arrived, I was again let down. The battered fish is the most tasteless thing ever. It was moist, but flavorless. The best thing I ate that night was the baked potato. I wanted to order some cheesecake but I was afraid the server would do what she did best--keep us waiting and then get offended when we ask what's up. Suggestions to the owner: 1. Train your staff. Train them on appropriate wait times. Train them on having a courteous and helpful attitude (not an entitled attitude). Train them on the menu. Train them to pay attention to details. I had the 3 piece fish fry (cod) came with soup and salad and another side for an up charge. Two others in my party had fish fry as well my girl friend ordered a coleslaw which was also an extra charge (most of the fish fries I've been to in wisconsin, come with coleslaw automatically. My buddy had the lobster mac and chesse. The drinks were alright. However, my buddy ordered the "Snicker Doodle" when it came out. It just looked like ice cream, vodka, and kalua, nothing like the picture. The service is what really brought down our experience. We came after the dinner rush. So the dining room and bar were not very busy. There were no big parties that were waiting on food. Our server had four tables, and the parties weren't more than four people. Our drinks took a long time and she just wasn't observate when we needed more refills. For the price we paid I expect better service. We arrived at the restaurant at 430 and were the only table which should have been our first clue. The salad bar was disgusting and looked like it was left from the night before. The soups were caked and had crusty rings inside the soup containers. We ordered chicken wings as a starter, the wings were missing the chicken.. mostly bone. The prime rib was rich in Iron like it was sitting in blood for days but was still dry. The lobster was dry and cracking, it also smelled like spoiled seafood/oysters. We could not eat it due to the smell. Our service was also horrible. We were the only table and still had to ask for silverware, extra napkins and our sauces numerous times. While trying to eat our food a family came in and the server whispered to them to bring their dog in. If anyone asked, they could say it was a service animal. They were sitting directly behind us, no social distancing, even the other family was concerned how close we were. We didn't even finish half our meal and the server showed no concern as to why we didn't want to go boxes like, who throws away prime rib and lobster. read more

It tastes like canned apple filling topped with a brown sugar crumble on a over cooked pizza crust. Is pretty sad when they charged me 8.00 for this crap. I won't order dessert again. Growing up in the area, we remember the TeePee restaurant. MoM is off to a good start as the evolution of "fine dining" in Tomah. It was clear this is a new joint with some early growing pains. Good menu, friendly staff, excellent appetizers and even better tenderloin and lobster (for the area). Despite being her first day, Kennedy's service was excellent. While the main entrees were slow in coming, it is clear this will be a go to spot once they work the kinks out. read more
