I would go to New Orleans BHS because of their reasonably-priced oysters with cheese and cocktails. At PHP 350 for half a dozen oysters, what a deal! I knew nothing about New Orleans anyway, and if they had calamari and gambas, hey, I'm not complaining.
Then I started dating a New Orleanian, and it opened my eyes to their very particular pride in their cuisine and music and culture and EVERYTHING NEW ORLEANS. So, suffice it to say, New Orleans BHS doesn't pass the standards of real New Orleanians who love their po boys and will wrinkle their noses at something that claims to have "voodoo spices."
But! They do have a pretty good Happy Hour. Because, at least, they do it ALL DAY and ALL NIGHT. Local beers go half off at certain hours, they give out huge goblets of cocktails... There might be a little New Orleans in the normal Manilenyo's drinking habits.
To be fair, let's not base our knowledge or impressions of the great Big Easy on an experience at New Orleans BHS. There's so much more to it than their projection of Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras. But as far as Happy Hours go, hey, have a good time and order some oysters too! (It's a really great spot to day drink, too!) read more
