It is apparently clear that Cottage Kitchen has lost the special element that made it the premier soul food restaurant in Asia! This is not because they have reduced their menu of traditional Afrocentric staples such as Black Eyed Peas but what occurred yesterday 9-17-15 has clarified to me that what they permit/tolerate is not in keeping with the spirit and culture of which the rest was founded 20 years ago. So what is this major crisis you ask? No it was not so much the black eyed peas or no collard greens for the past week. The greens is really not their fault as their supplier/market has been unable to accommodate them
The problem my friends is I had the temerity to inquire as to why certain items were unavailable as that was what I was told. Well the waitress quickly reverted to Tagalog of which I am not fluent. I then requested someone who could explain the situation to me. In comes "the manager" and I use that term quite loosely. This manager saunters over. Not walked but kind of swayed as she appeared to be inebriated. Allow me to share that upon entrance to this restaurant the manager was perched at the bar with two men. She was at all times at the bar loud, woozy as evidenced by her landing in one of the men's laps quite often. This while she appeared to have her left hand permanently affixed in his general crotch area. She was observed consuming multiple drinks and climbed up on the bar counter more than once.
Well anyway she sashays over to my table and unceremoniously places her hands on her hips and asks what's wrong. I then asked about the menu, specifically what sides WERE INDEED available? She then looked confused and asked the waitress IN TAGALOG what to say. The waitress efficiently explained to her AGAIN the situation. She then looks at me and asks: Why don't you choose what's available? I looked into her eyes which were bloodshot red , observed her swaying and dismissed her. She walked back to the bar area and resumed her own brand of "customer service/customer entertainment". As i had decided to choose the pork chops I then asked for two available sides which were not listed on the menu.
Prior to my return dinner was repeatedly interrupted by the manager's attempts at courtship/romance or what have you which involved an observation of her demonstratioLack of customer service at Cottage Kitchen:

Prior to my return dinner was repeatedly interrupted by the manager's attempts at courtship/romance or what have you which involved an observation of her demonstration of "tour guide" in which she brought the drunk guy up to the second floor (in the dark mind you) for sometime. if this is the future of Cottage Kitchen Cafe it will only be a matter of time before this business fails. By the way the pork chops were good :) read more
