$1500 for one tire?! Talk about trying to rake somebody over the coals. I'll make sure I never come do any business with you and definitely make sure that you avoid this company because they overprice everything. read more

Gave a one bc they did the job, but hear the story as me & Jason are the cats. They don't sell used tires & she's responded with lies. Towed after blowout in Ash Fork, Arizona on I-40W to a business that we googled advertising 24 hrs a day and new & used tires. Thinking we were blessed 5 min. away bc it was hot! My son asked the driver a question of how his day was going. Driver didn't respond. Jason apologized for having to get us. No response. Arrive at shop with same 24 hour new & used sign. Failing to mention they don't sell used tires. & they were closed. This important info came out in the end when they decided to let us have the honest part of the conversation because they were doing us "a favor." I thought we were doing business. While outside, I found a chair in the shade to sit on the side of their business. The owner came out and instead of being a lady & speaking like a woman that thrives on our misfortunes, asked us, "What are you doing here?" There was no before words, there were no after. There was no comeback as words used incorrectly can be saved. She could've said, "Can I help you? We're closed, but you're welcome to seat yourselves inside. It's mighty hot. Make yourselves comfortable out here. She could have even smiled. Strangely a thin cat walked up. He had tags. Have your own pet disappear for a week and you run out trying to save them all. I recognized that maybe he was either lost or wasn't being fed properly as he seemed to know the scattered wood to scratch his nails on and the chair to lay up and curlkittyball it. I asked the female if this was her cat with a response of "Yeah, we have a few of them. They keep the rats away." Keep in mind, I'm a city girl but know of different ways of life & am open minded. There aren't enough rats around for my new friend. This taking place as their handsome well groomed, well fed, blue eyed dog came up to me. When asking a female worker and the tow truck driver for prices, no one knew. Each one directing us to the other. We were charged 100 for the tow. 45 for the hook up fee. 45 for installing the tire. 180 for a $50-70$ Cooper tire. Minds blown but understanding that this particular stretch of highway in Ash Fork is littered in blown tire shreds. Drive through, drone image pictures, view for yourself this eerily misfortuned area of many travelers that encounter the same fate. I drove my son from Austin, Texas because I live in Las Vegas & he is to start a new life with his newly pregnant gf. We were tired but not confrontational. My son is not violent and wanted to know why so expensive. Driver got confrontational and when asked why all those separate fees, states "Well, it's not illegal." No. It's what crooks charge. We were led inside to the office where a small cozy lobby and a sign with all the fees they charge that are listed in all its dry erase marker multicolored glory shined out upon my face. It was glorious. You should witness the mass of fees upon glorious fees! It took maybe 5 min. to pay because their computer didn't function, after swiping multiple times, locks out my son's card & they seemed to be training the new girl that I predict is hired to deal with the upset customers that spot when they got scammed. I had to move money around in my accounts online and doing so on my phone under the pressure of being tired, being frustrated, having to calm the driver down and to diffuse his fire. It was a scene from the recent movie of a karaoke party bus beginning their journey that breaks down......(someone help me with the movie title). Tow truck driver comes out to fix a engine belt & rips them off all while being crazy. I plead to the city & anyone that wants to run a tire shop in this area....give people kindness and honesty and you will run the Murphys out of the world. Listen to her response and witness how ladylike and business savvy she is. Read all the negatives and see the common thread. They're rude and mean. End of story. We made it home. He's in Stockton to visit his gf so that he can return to Las Vegas to find their new home bc a baby is coming. I have to teach my grandchildren that in this world there are people that either treat you as their cat or their dog when they choose who to feed & who not to feed. Thankfully there are people that do exist that have both cats & dogs & treat them all equally. Yet while I was there, the way they treated us, I for that one moment in time doubted my existence and wished that with their beautiful eyes that they saw me as a dog but walk away knowing I'm a cat lover even more so but I love my dogs just as much. My story is the truth because I was born to write. Born to witness and testify. They don't talk much at all, unless it's online. Lesson learned. Keep a spare. This isn't about money. This has become about honesty and kindness. read more

BLUF: Check Engine light, loss of power, glided into the station. Yvonne and Ricky got my part and I did the repair since he was swamped with work on an early Saturday morning. They charged me a fair delivery price to run back to Williams and return with the precise ignition coil that I needed, and were able to provide a backup option should I have had to stay until Monday. I think this family owned and operated shop is one of the most honest places to stop. I got a chance while waiting for the part to see how customers interacted with Ricky (head down within a car using his diagnostic program on a laptop) and he was patient with everyone who stopped by, even with one lady who unfairly screamed at him about a tire problem. He shook off her comments and continued with his repair, unfazed. The waiting room is clean and comfortable, nice and cool on a hot day with plush leather chairs and the filling station nearby has plenty of sodas and ice if that's what you need. When you are at the mercy of other people's ethics, that's when you truly understand the impact that a good principled business will have. I was able to talk to Ricky and I asked him if he wanted to do the part replacement and he told me, "It's your car, if you want to do it I can just run the part for you and charge you a delivery fee." The fee and the part cost were fair and I was only off the road about two hours. Yvonne was available and I am very pleased that they were able to get me back on the road like a pit crew at a raceway!! read more

I hired Millennium Transport Corp. to enclose trailer my 1957 Thunderbird from Laughlin, Nevada to Flagstaff, Arizona. The trip was for the Thunderbird Concours. The car was to be picked up on a Wednesday and delivered on Thursday for the Friday morning show. Without going into detail, Millennium didn't come close to fulfilling their contract nor did they contact me to let me know they couldn't pick up the Bird. I was frantic. I called all around but nobody wanted to drive to Laughlin and back Thursday afternoon. Enter Murphy's and Mr. Matt Quinn. Matt left Ash Fork, Arizona at approximately 4:00 p.m. Thursday. He drove to Laughlin. He picked up the T'Bird then drove back to Flagstaff arriving at 12:20 Friday morning. He was as careful with the Baby Bird as I would have been. He's also a damn nice guy. Matt and Murphy's saved the day. The Bird took top honors. Matt picked up the Little Lady and returned her to the Laughlin museum on Saturday. Matt was continually in touch with us. Would I do business with Murphy and Matt again? You bet your butt. Would I recommend Murphy and Matt? You can bet your other butt cheek I would. The Little Lady says thank you and so do I. Well done! read more

Don't get stuck in the mud out in Ash Fork. This tow company charged me $1,800 to tow me a quarter of a mile. The actual tow time was two and a half hours which I appreciated them being there to help me but they charged me six and a half hours of tow time and 6 and 1/2 hours of wench time had a ray of $300 an hour. Not a very honest company From The time he arrived to wench us out to the time I was able to drive the rest of the way was 2.5 hours. I was charged $1805. A good portion of it was 6.5 hours wench time and that is not ethical. I WILL BE ADVISING LAW ENFORCEMENT NOT TO RECOMMEND THIS TOW COMPANY read more

Our Harley broke down 30 miles out of Williams headed to the Grand Canyon. After calling a few other places that told us they were 3 hours out. We called Murphy's. Great service and very friendly! read more

If you are a trucker or have a motor home, this is the place for you. If you are a regular vehicle, get prepared to be screwed over. We got told they could help us with our blowout, they were very kind and helpful, but just not in it for keeping people safe. They had towed us to there shop, they said they had the tires, just not the rims, so they towed us out to discount tire and it was a whole thing. Essentially, the tire shop was more helpful than this place. We are thankful for the assistance, but we got screwed in the whole experience. The employees are all amazing, the business is just out for your money, not your safety. read more

Two months ago my wife and I were coming back from Utah where we're had bought a tow behind travel trailer. My wife had broken her foot a couple hours before we got a flat tire on the trailer and we were stuck on the Jolly Road exit. We were 60 miles from home (Kingman Arizona) where she was going to go to the hospital to get it fixed. I searched the trailer for a spare and Jack to change it, I found the spare but no Jack. It was midnight and the phone reception was very weak and the only place we could call was this company. I explained my situation to the man who answered the phone and asked if they could change the tire for me and he replied " no problem, and because of the late hour there was a extra charge" he quoted me it would cost almost $600 for the service. I told him that I had not added the trailer to my AAA card since we were not home yet where I could get my policy and add it. He said the charge would be cash or credit card. He did not care about the situation we were in and said I could call other tow companies and try to get it cheaper but he has the best prices. I finally unhooked the trailer, drove my wife to the ER and was done there about 5 am. I took her home and grabbed a Jack drove back out there and spent 5 minutes changing the tire and took it to Kingman and had all four tires replaced for about the same amount he was going to charge to do a 5 minute job...... So all I can say is "shame on him and his company" . He brought a whole new meaning to gouging and totally showed no compassion what so ever. Never again ........... read more

Very kind people here. It's hard to find honest truck mechanics and I would recommend Bobby. He did a quick diagnosis and got me back on the road in no time. read more

Mike towed our tractor to Albuquerque from Joseph City. He was very professional and did a great job getting us to Albuquerque safely. I would highly recommend Murphy's towing, especially with employees like Mike read more

People were rude to the point of argumentative, place was filthy and overpriced. I wouldn't recommend the place to my worst enemy.

We had a rollover accident nearby and my car was taken here prior to releasing it to the insurance company. As a towing and trucking company, I get that their job isn't to be like, nice or anything, but my husband and I were in shock just trying to salvage our things out of the car and regardless of our attempted positivity, we couldn't get a "hello" or a smile or really anything more than a grunt from the lady working behind the counter. Rude, not great person-to-person interaction, but I mean they did their job and let us go back to my crumpled up car. read more

Matt is the freaking best I swear. Matt is very professional plus courteous at the same time

I was pulling my trailer on my way to the Grand Canyon last week and discovered the trailer battery wasn't charging properly. I stopped at Murphy's in Ash Fork, AZ to have it checked out. Brent, the pleasant and knowledgeable mechanic ran some diagnostic tests on the battery and then explained to me what the problem was. Even though Brent spent a half hour with me, the kind owner Mr. Murphy did not charge me for his time. That was a nice surprise! read more

I was on my way east planning to get some preventative maintenance done in Albequerque. My '04 Volvo with an ISX500 started stuttering so I decided not to wait and started looking for shops nearby that could help me. Murphy's had good reviews and after talking to the owner I felt comfortable that he was familiar with the ISX. I ended up having a bad throttle position sensor and failing turbo. They replaced both as well as replaced my leaking power steering pump, rear brakes, several rusted bolts and heater hoses. They did a good job on all the work and the truck is running very well now. Getting parts in smaller town is a pain and did slow the job a bit. Overall I am very pleased with the work, Rick's knowledge, and the work that was done. I will be back for more preventative care in the spring when I come back through town. read more

Yvonne says that I agreed to the charge before they did the work so it was not an overcharge but the reason I am writing this review now is because the trailer is back in the shop and the mechanic said he would have charge me $650 ( the axle is only $250 with everything on it, it is only a 5 lug) I wish I would have known but instead here they charged me over $1600 for a job that I now know should have cost $650-800 at the most. If you get stuck here with any problems you are better off getting towed to Prescott or another large city that has HONEST mechanics and shops to choose from. I wish I would have seen this review prior to signing that paper on there desk but I didn't seen many other options. I am just pointing out it will be cheaper to tow your car as far away from this company as possible..... There is a reason they are stationed out in the middle of nowhere, they have certainly been run out of most larger towns.... they could not stay in business with other Honest and reputable shops to compete with. Wait for the owners wife response below it should be classic denial of any wrong doing or fault at all, not even a sorry for taking too long, nothing but excuses after excuses. Yvonne and her business capitalize on the misfortunes of others by over charging and lying to customers, even making up false claims in her response to my review. If she had any integrity or respect she would not respond at all or respond in kind but when she viciously attacks her customers because they have a problem with there service this tells you there is a much larger problem here. Yvonne.... did you ever learn that behind every complaint you receive there are 7 more that just never bothered to take the time? This makes it an opportunity to improve on your work and business ethic but you just don't seem to get it. Apparently Yvonne and the mechanics here at Murphys Towing are the best at what they do, will not learn anything in the future or bother to improve upon the way they conduct business. I am confident this is an attitude that will put you out of business sooner than later. Attention ashford mechanics there is a huge market for Honest, reliable, trustworthy mechanics in the area and there may be a shop for rent soon if these guys keep up the horrible work. read more

These people were not willing to help me when I got stranded in the middle of nowhere with a flat tire. I had a flat tire while driving a rental car on mile marker 51 of Indian Rd. 18. The intersection to this road is Route 66. There are no services or phone reception in this area. The rental car was not equipped with a spare tire (unbelievable!). Therefore, I got a ride from a car passing by to the nearest, and only, establishment, the Caverns. I still wasn't getting any reception. The people at the Cavern kindly let me in and allowed me use their landline for HOURS while I was trying to get AAA, Geico, and the rental car company (NU) help me. All those companies totally failed me and literally left me stranded out there. I tried a few shops somewhat close by, including Murphy's, and they said they can't help either! They just left me out there! read more

Bobby did an excellent job helping us out in our time of need. Being from out of town it was so nice to have a friendly face come to change our tire. We have horses with us and he was very cautious about not making any abrupt moves or noises so they would stay calm. He was also very conscientious about keeping our truck and trailer clean while he was working. Definitely would recommend. read more

My company's bus broken down on the way to Flagstaff. They helped us tow it from freeway to their shop, and also find the part no one can find in Flagstaff working after hours fixing our bus. Great service and fanatic work! read more

I believe they need to update their website to clarify what they actually offer. We went in today because we are passing through towing our RV and having some issues with our diesel truck only to be told they really don't want to work on vehicles and just focus on towing. If the site would have stated that we would have avoided this shop altogether and just went to flagstaff. Definitely disappointed by our experience. Not super friendly or helpful at all like other reviews stated. read more

Crooked people and also rude. We were standing outside we're told by the woman" what are y'all doing here " obviously knowing we were getting a tire , then never asked us to come sit inside knowing it would take him 40 min to do a simple tire change that literally should have taken 5 min . Then we're told " we don't sale used tires " while they are advertising new and used tires. Then told they stayed open for us , but they are open 24/7 , I was towed 5 min from their shop and got a new tire . He put a new tire on while I told him I would like a cheap used one to get back to Vegas. 400$ for a tire and a 5min tow . Stay away please save you're money and go somewhere else.also just looked up this 180$ tire and every where sales it from 75-100 read more

Blown tire and fluid leaking from the back of my van with 3 kids and dog. AAA let me sit on the side of I-40 for an hour before telling me that instead of an hour it was going to be 2.5 hours at least. Thankfully I was able to find a great mechanic and towing company by sheer luck. Ricky, the owner, sent Kevin right away to pick our 15 passenger van on the back of his flatbed. Loaded up the family in the cab and got us safely to Ash Fork, AZ. Only 1 Inn in the town that said they were full online and was not answering the phone. Kevin insisted we stop by and he got us a room for the night. By 8 am the next morning Kevin was working on the fix. Kept me up to date about the progress and finished the job quickly. My only issue is they charged 3.5% for credit or debit card. It's part of running a business, just build it into the bill. I appreciated all hard work and professionalism. read more

I cannot thank Ricky and Yvonne at Murphys Towing and Automotive enough. Our check engine light alerted at start of vacation hundreds of miles from home. Not only were they open on Saturday, but Ricky worked us in immediately, was methodical about searching for the problem, AND was concise with his explanation of the issue. He discussed our options with us and suggested a solution we were happy with. We were back on the road in a reasonable amount of time and the bill was what I could have expected from my trusted mechanic at home. I hate to be afraid that people will take advantage of me in a crisis and it was wonderful to know that I received the best care possible instead. I am sure all the locals know and patronize this business, I want to let travelers know they can stop here with confidence. read more

Vince T - When our RV was towed into a well known Southern California RV Shop with an engine problem the service advisor there told us the leaf springs were cracked and needed replaced at a cost of $4,300.00. I decided to bring the RV back to Arizona and have the springs looked at here. We live in Prescott and Ash Fork is about an hour north of us. I found Murphy's simply by doing an internet search. They answered a lot of my questions and gave me a preliminary quote for the springs over the phone before I brought the RV there by using the VIN number. Once I had the RV at Murphy's they did a complete inspection of the undercarriage of the RV. Turns out the springs (and front suspension) were not in need of replacement. Simply a broken bracket. They welded the bracket and gave me a report on the current life of the brakes and exhaust system. The entire bill came to $355.00. I appreciated their ability to respond quickly and their honesty in not replaceing the springs as the dealer in Southern California was so ready to do. Thank you to Murphy's for your quality service and for your integrity which is really priceless. read more
